What's happened to him?
Might be worth sending him out on loan!

After 7weeks back feeling really fit' was his tweet yesterday. Hell of a long time taking to get his fitness back up

Fair point yes, but he has played numerous under 21 games now and am i right in thinking he returned from injury at the same time as pato? and he was involved on saturday

Gobern has also been playing in the Development squad.
Perhaps admin should unsticky the Youth and Development thread then more people might read it, as it gets posts quite often.

He seems to be one of those players who can inexplicably get injured without playing. He's definitely one that another club has had our "pants down" over. What a dreadful signing he has turned out to be.

CP is certainly sorting out the shirkers. If they want a place on the team they're having to work for it.

Defo snow. Powell is rapidly becoming The Man!
Deano will have absolutely loved that performance on Saturday. Players he's shelled out loads for - Scannell & Hogg proving their worth and academy lads delivering too.
Pleased for him.

Gerrard is a puzzling one for me because he has shown a consistency last year better than Lynch (who seems to have sorted himself out after L666s) but I do believe he lacks maturity and that coupled with his lack of getting into the matchday squad could be harming his path back to first team football.
Maybe Powell just doesn't believe he is better thean our 2 incumbents and the improving Wallace.
I would imagine that tweet doesn't sit well with Powell either (is he angling for a move)

Gobern's been outplayed by Tronstad and Billing in the u21s.
Another Lee Clark genius signing.

Who would have already left the club if he hadn't been offered a new 2 year deal by the club's hierarchy (NOT Clark) 18 months ago. But feel free to have a dig at the guy who's transfer dealings netted the club unprecedented returns... 3 managers removed from Clark and some just STILL refuse to move on.

Watched him yesterday in the under 21s and he looked very mediocre. As above both Billing and Tronstad are better players and even they are really not up to playing at championship level. I will be surprised if he finds a way back into first team football so a loan spell with a view to offloading would be a good idea. Just as an aside Gerrard was at fault with the only goal which saw us lose 1 nil to Charlton yesterday and he was subbed. Our midfield seems to be taking shape now with even Hogg upping his game so long may it continue.

Yet you bring the Clark argument into the equation. But to repsond, I wonder how much the wages of the 40 or so signings Clark made in his tenure ate into those returns of just 4/5 players.

All within budget I believe, so maybe blame the guy who set the budget? Moving on quickly to TRY to avoid another LC debate. I just don't get why folk keep bringing him up again after all these years and managers since. I always thought bringing Tom Johnston back was a huge mistake

past all that now, we need the money that gobern is being paid to go elsewhere, that's all that matters now. I personally would rather have gerrard on the bench than Wallace. Wallace comes and goes but gerrard was reasonably consistent when in the team. Lynch starts for me simply because of his pace.

Put him in the shop window ? I've not seen much from Gobern in the last 3 years to suggest he'd pull any trees up at Scunthorpe.

Gobern would struggle to get into a pub team. I really am astounded that we paid money for him. Did we but him after watching a video? Southampton took us to the cleaners.
