we were playing with ten men, he played well against wigan, but he was shite today! he played well against wigan cos the ball was always in the air and the only was they attacked was from long throw ins his passing is disgraceful for a midfielder did you see that point today when he had the ball and all the field ahead of him he turned back and passed it poorly to lynch who had to hoof it out

Was absolutely dire. Should never feature in midfield at home imo. May do a job in places away from home but looked a skilless donkey. No point clearing deadwood if this is the calibre of the replacements imo

Agree with Offtopic - as a Burnley resident I can only repeat that the vast majority of Claret and Blue supporters I've asked have said he's a liability at central defence or full-back. Nippy players make him look foolish, and the thought of him and Hudson as a central pairing would give me nightmares. Still, he'd be cheap...

Edgar was poor an unispiring and offered no more than another centre half, our lack of midfield creativity lost us the battle today. He didnt pass it well and Leeds bossed the centre of the park and thankfully didnt look great up top until their 2 late subs changed the dynamics.
Butterfield should have gone early 2nd half for his late foot up and Austin 30 seconds later, Coady again slow, plodding admittedly reads the game well and cleans up but we need that extra bit of fizz in midfield and sad to say we're missing Hogg's energy.
Lynch could have cost us dear, failing to accept his injury stay on and get caught moments later, Powell was screaming at him as he came off, disappointing a senior pro acted in that way.
Desperate for a Striker and midfielder next week, today if anything showed how potentially close to the drop we still are when some were muting mid table security after a couple of good wins, back to earth with a bump.

Can't believe Gobern has been casted off over this guy. Don't know how he played against Wigan but my first impressions were he looks naff!
A burnley mate warned me that he's sh*te, I'm afraid he's not wrong based on what I've seen today.

Today, he looked exactly what he's purported to be – a defender playing in midfield.

Absolute tosh. It was clear Lynch was hurt, he tried to run it off but we should have had someone ready regardless. Leeds managed to get their sub on before us. This isn't the first time that we've taken ages to make a change either - remember the 5 mins it took to get a replacement on for Holt at Rotherham? It's poor from the management team, not Lynch.

Hudson even suggested to Powell and make the change gesturing afte he pulled up on the first instance, right in front of me.
Powell asked Lynch if he was ok to carry on and needed to come off, indecisive by Powell and a blatant lie by Lynch you just dont run off what looks like a hamstring pull.
Leeds almost exposed his injury with the next move when he had to pull up again at half pace and couldnt get near their chap - all in front of me again.
Powell bawled him out all the way off and down the tunnel.
Tosh or what?

Think some are being a bit harsh...but i couldnt believe powell wasnt urging him up the pitch 5/10 yds to engage the leeds midfield. We stood off them for so long it was ridiculous. Not as bad as some are making out, but clearly not as good as last week........the one i feel for is goburn. If after excelling at rovrum and v watford he is routinely dropped for a centre back makeshift it hardly augurs well for him long term. Having won at wigan the pressure was off today.....cant believe we didnt just get at leeds and go for it. Asit is, we lost anyway and the over caution frustrates even more when we lose 3 key men, 2 of which could be struggling for a few wks.

Powell on Edgar:
"“Like everyone else, David Edgar had to get himself going at the start but then he made a few tackles and passes and did. We needed him today because we knew Rudy Austin would break from midfield and would be competitive. He was steady and he’ll be a good acquisition for us.”
Got himself going? He was steady? What game were you watching Mr Powell? He stood out as shite on a pitch containing plenty of players playing crap.
If he gets many more games in midfield I fear for our season, I really do.

We are supposed to be clearing out the deadwood and getting in players who will improve us... So we drop gobern and put a defender in.
I presume he will now replace Smith at right back... Would he be better than Peltier in that position ?

He was shocking today, just seemed to float about the place doing sod all as others have said looked like a centre back playing in midfield.

What's this obsession with defenders in midfield... Just because they are defenders it doesn't mean they are holding midfielders.
Fxcking hell.

Lynch tells "a blatant lie" yet Powell is getting grief because of unprofessionalism by Lynch. Lynch should have known better, only he would know whether he was fit to carry on.

Won 80% of his headers bla bla last week
3 questions 1. What percentage of his passes found a town player?
2. What percentage of his passes went forwards
3. Of 2 what percentage we're successful?
I'm guessing 1= 50%, 2=40% and 3=20%
Awful, legs went so hope-less Powell went 4141. Govern should have been on if I put my Powell negative hat on, Lolley and attacked for once in my head! Powell even managed to out do his own negativity leaving him on

I thought Edgar did ok. But hey, let's not miss the chance to slate a new player after one home game.

That miss hit straight to the keeper in injury time was particularly special

He was only okay against Wigan. Steady, a blocker, probably useful in away games. The Examiner and others went way OTT in their rating of him last week, I gave him a 6 on here in my little report. Yesterday, he was much the same but at home he'll always look worse because we're surely meant to be trying to win aren't we?
He's also upset the balance in there. Butterfield was poor last week, not so good yesterday either, and despite his 'goal' at Wigan, Coady has been just as bad in both games. Sooner Hogg's back the better, because right now it looks as though Powell likes recruiting really pedestrian 'holding' players which Hogg certainly isn't.
For Edgar see Poyet.

I dread to think what Austin would have done to Gobern if he had been in there.
Never mind him, Billing needs to be staking a claim in there.

If not now, then when...? Don't know, hard to say really, probably when he's ready, on last weeks showing with Powell watching....Not yet. Lolley on the other hand played very well and thought he would have got 30 minutes at least yesterday. Play Reading at the stadium at 1pm on the 3rd Feb. Will be watching.
