They haven't killed any momentum, the club have listened to what town fans have said on the ATT panel. The NSL from the start wanted the south stand, they just never thought it would happen so quick. The club have seen what the NSL has done so far and used the platform that's been created. It's nearly perfect for the NSL. See the point is that I think the "NSL from the start wanted the south stand" is inherently wrong. Maybe some/all of the main "organisers" did, but not everyone, we're all in their for different reasons. Personally I prefer that stand as its the best view of the game, as a fan its not possible to get closer to the action anywhere else in the ground... throw in the relative steepness of the stands and even ignoring the big expanse behind the south stand goal line, for the same height you're closer to the pitch in the North Stand. Throw in that you can go central (wont be possible in a split South Stand), and that in the FML everyone is looking forward at the action whereas in the south stand you'll have people craning to see the away fans and becoming more cut off from the game (one of the problems in the Kilner too), throw in that the rickety nature of the fml helps people to get involved as its "different" so they get out of their "this is how we sit and behave at home games" mind set a bit more freely, and theres lots of reasons why some of us tried out the south stand in the recentish experiments, and it just reinforced the memory we had of when this happened years ago (v Port Vale I vaguely recall), and it was crappy. I WON'T be in the South Stand next season. But... everyone has a free choice, it just feels like this NSL experiment needed a couple more seasons of 'protected' development, as its just going to divide the atmosphere again rather than encourage building it I reckon. We'll see I guess. Are you just looking for problems or what? Let it pan out. Give it a chance.

No, I'm just giving my opinion of how I think it will pan out and why I as an individual will be unlikely to go in there regularly if at all. I thought giving opinions and discussing them was what this forum was about? Do you have any actual opinion or any actual interest in reading opinion on this subject? If not, as you suggest, then feel free to ignore those of us who are discussing it! Obviously I hope it 'works' and I hope attending Town matches is better for EVERYONE than it is today. For some of us, it will become better, or different, by moving into the South Stand, for some (most) of us, we'll stay where we are, or move elsewhere.

Not for me either, No interest in going in a shared stand, Same as I have never had any interest in gobbing off to away fans or flicking the Vs. More into having a safe standing area, And with this move, Its gone, Not that our hierarchy ever backed the campaign. Not seen the forms yet, But I will be cheesed if the LFM has returned to being part of the biggest family stand in the world, I like the idea of being able to go in an unreserved stand, To be allowed to stand up if I so choose<, Is that gone, done ? And how long will it be before the SSL are not allowed to take flags, etc due to the stand being shared, Constantly be told to sit down, safety matters etc etc, No doubt at all that the noise levels will be significantly louder in the SS but what will happen when you are moved, And where to ? The FML has looked great at ko time this year with the streamers etc, That cannot be replicated in the SS. Don't give up on it - it will work out for the better in the long-term. We need numbers behind it. You're right, the displays might not look as good in the corner as opposed to right behind the goal in the FML, but ultimately we intended to make noise and we can do that much easier in the SS. Hopefully the FML and FMU will continue to do the displays - it doesn't need to be down to the NSL to arrange.

So we've wanted a home end for so long and get given the North Stand, but that's not good enough we want the South Stand. So Dean accepts and allows us to have the South Stand for all but 5 games, realistically all he can do with the situation at the moment, and its still not good enough for some people! Wouldn't surprise me if he just thought I cant win with theses fans and packed in!
This is the best we could have hoped for realistically!

Palace make it work and if those two blocks fill up it'd make displays look a lot better than they might have done in the FML.

No it aint, Have the SS but keep the FML as unreserved for all games, No need to turn it into literally the biggest family stand in the world, (again) Nowt wrong with the Cheapseats a few years ago, In fact it had just started to get good in there and an alternative stand to go in, Before Robinsons SS started to lob folk out for nigh on naff all. It cant possibly be considered a home end if it aint permanent, And the SS aint permanent, yet. Neither is it cheap, But then again neither are the Cheapseats anymore. This is what pisses me off slightly,,now the NSL is leaving, the fans who went in the FML before all this, and want to remain there are left with a more expensive season card now,I agree it should be left unreserved too

Best get some new flags for next season lads Great comeback Matt. You gave a load of anti NSL speil yesterday and now today, we have got the south stand, that's all you can say. Read deans message, read the NSL's target from day one before posting such rubbish as you did the other day. didnt i mention yesterday that , the rumours going round that we were getting some of the south stand ? oh right

just for accuracy...there was a voluable south stand lobby long before the NSL or ATT groups came into being... it was dismissed by the club because the trials had not shown enough interest in it...rejecting the arguments put forward that a temporary arrangement would always struggle...and the other point about only low key fixtures were chosen for the trials. At the same time club said putting away fans in the kilner was a definate no go...ever. In addition it was said there was no way on earth the club would ever think about forcing SC holders to move seats. Not fair on the fans, they said.
In other words the south stand lobby, as was, were brushed off by the club rejecting every argument put forward and in some cases quoting the police and health and safety to support their decisions.
Today i have a wry smile of irony on my face...how now all those arguments put forward by many people seem to be no longer valid, the impossible has become possible...so in other words we were told a load of bullshit because the club just didn't want to know. Nevertheless, the NSL and the ATT have put forward the same case as we did previously, but won the argument, and so credit where it is due ...well done for that...It's just a pity the club wouldn't accept the arguments put forward a number of years ago.. Better late than never and I guess credit to the club for changing their minds ...
Next up is the club itself becoming more pro active in creating a matchday experience that would entice more fans down to the stadium.. We'll get there in the end .. maybe..then there is catering...then pay on the gate prices...the matchday program.....and of course, the football !
