Some players like Coady for example were targeted over two years ago. Two and a half years is sod all in the long term. Two and a half years of suffering. Not for me, in general I've enjoyed the last three years and not suffered one iota. Looking forward to Wednesday away. Some of us have longer memories than some of the goldfish on here and remember the 'really poor times'.

2 and a half years should be enough time, I agree. A good insight would be looking at his previous clubs and the success they have reaped due to his input since he left but despite all the tub thumping on here I've not seen a single shred of such evidence there either. Watford are doing VERY well but AFAIK the Italians threw what he'd done out of the window certainly when it came to player recruitment but maybe I'm wrong and someone can enlighten me. Maybe their prozone etc is that good its propelled them to the top of the league and not even 4 managers in one season can stop them. They're certainly doing something right that's for sure but I'm not sure its down to RW..or is it? Italian ownership, threw their Academy down from Cat1 to Cat3. (Below us) Youth system destroyed. link

The only " big picture " i look at is the up to date championship league table which shows towns woeful defensive record. Last season ended in a relegation dog fight , and this season could have been the same had it not been for similar poor performing teams in this division. Town have bought some crap in this season especially in Hudson , Edgar and Poyet , and the club needs to replace Wilson with someone who has the experience to spot real talent who can take this club back to where most feel it belongs..

What has remembering the really poor times got to do with Wilson ? My reply was to Sugy and his melodramatic "Two and a half years of suffering". If you think we're "suffering" and have done for "Two and a half years"

Get some perspective Sugy. Hudson was on his way to Fulham if we hadn't stepped in, Cardiff fans weren't happy (no doubt you'll find someone to disagree) Poyet was brought in on an emergency loan to cover Hogg. Not sure what quality of player you are expecting on the bench. By and large your complaints are the short term loans. No outcry about 'rubbish Hogg, Butterfield Miller and Coady then'. How long before our latest loan signing is rubbished?

If you think we're "suffering" and have done for "Two and a half years" I just hope your right Coddington especially when it comes to the time when fans are due to renew their season cards. Town are not much better than the three teams who I feel will be relegated , and that is mainly down to a woeful defence with a record to match. Shame Hudson didn't go to Fulham instead as he must be the worst captain I have witnessed at this level in my 52 years.

miller seems to split opinion.. edgar does not look or act like a footballer, its quite odd watching him.. like a less talented Jamie mccombe???
seriously think that either of the young centre halves at the club might have done better?

ive renewed..did have 5 now 3.. two have to travel a good distance for home games, have been doing for the last 20 years, they wont be doing so next year. They will come to the occasional games, its more down to the time than the money but the performances and the general feeling around the club hasn't helped.
as long as you pay, you can have your say...I think you are wrong about those that actually pay not being in the 'happy to be here' camp...
thank Christ..

Respectfully or not, there is very little you can actually disagree with in Fresh Prince's post, as the majority of what he has written is totally factual, not just the result of his own opinion. Argue all you want, but in Football as in all things, there are opinions which are subject to an individuals interpretation, and there are things that are simply facts untainted by opinion. As far as this whole Ross Wilson matter goes, you and many others on this thread are simply wrong, regardless of what your opinion may be. ROFL, best close the thread then Next time anyone on here wants to think for themselves maybe they should just cut out the middle man and ask you for the facts. You must have amazing insight considering the only thing you know is what you've read in the media I'd love to know what your basing that on. What would I need to have read in the media to know for a fact that what Fresh Prince is saying is the truth and not just his own opinion? I'm not saying people can't discuss it, they can discuss it all they want, it doesn't make them any less wrong.

I do like how on this site the usual suspects label you a moaner and groaner when you have an opinion that differs from theirs, Our attendances are dropping, season ticket sales will be down, That's a problem that needs addressing, and fast. And your answer is what exactly. We all know the results have been disappointing, however the performances have been much improved of late. Moaning about it will solve nothing. Take a happy pill and see where we are in a months time. ;D

Putting a successful team together is all about getting the balance right , then its down to the manager to motivate and get the best out of the players. Town have forward and midfield players that are as good as any in the championship ,but sadly have to many below championship standard defenders with a woeful defensive record to match. I thought it important that Powell used the run in championship games to try and put a successful working defence together before the closure of the emergency loan window , and that would be a far better test for players with possible extension contracts than meaningless pre season friendlies. The last thing anybody wants to see is another disastrous start to a season , as that will not help the dwindling attendances that we have seen lately.

Why weren't we doing it previously? You'd have to ask Dean Hoyle that. Whatever we were doing in the dark ages before Ross Wilson came along can't have been that bad. It saw us get promoted and make massive profits on several players. We got promoted by massively outspending our rivals. That option isn't open to us in the Championship, so we have to try and to do it smarter. The Fresh Prince gives a number of good examples of players we've been able to bring into the youth team as a result of Wilson's work. Time will tell if they're as good as we hope, but we couldn't carry on signing players and giving them wages well above the rest of teams in the division once we got promoted. If you've a better idea of how we're ever going to compete at this level, please let us know. we got promoted by massively outspending our rivals I must have landed in a parallel universe you have spent the last week telling me that outspending your rivals doesn't work, now you are saying it does work but we are unable to do it in the championship. How the dickens do you know all these things are you DH in disguise ? No I have it now your DH bank manager, First spending a lot is no guarantee of gaining promotion then next you confirm it works You my man appear to be what my dad used to call a "nark". black is white up is down

What is the measure of success ? RW in my opinion has not been successful in his time at Town no academy players have made it to the first team on a regular basis and if Mr D Holmes is the best we have then we are in big trouble, all the good buys Rhodes Pilkington etc were completed before RW arrived.
If his contacts stretch far and wide which European players are supplementing our attacking front line like those at Charlton? none, so in a nut shell no good foreign players no good academy players,no budding stars sold on for millions in fact the sum total achieved appears to be nothing.
Perhaps this is a case of the Kings new clothes and RW is the salesman who sells them?

It is one thing outspending the likes of Port Vale, Crewe and Oldham, a bit different doing it to Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough and Derby. You do realise there is a difference in budgets between L1 and the Championship, right? If spending guaranteed success, why did it takes us four years (lets not forget, your plan was to go wild for two years) to get out of the division? Of course chucking loads of money at it makes things easier, I've never said it doesn't. My argument with your "plan" was it was someone else's money you were spending for them and if it it didn't work out, then......actually, you were never ever able to give a response.

It appears to me that you change your mind to suit your posting and your memory selective that's a good way of describing it. Just for good measures Sky have just confirmed every team in the Premiership made a profit last season but why shoot For the stars when you would be happy hitting the ceiling.

I'm afraid you're incorrect - Forest were promoted before Hoyle bought us, so are irrelevant, Charlton spent less than us and won the league with over 100 points, Leeds and Southampton spent more than us, I'm not sure about Brighton, to be honest. My point always has been that throwing a load of money at it is not a guarantee, I've not changed my opinion that, despite you falsely accusing me of doing so. I'm still waiting for you answer to what we do if we don't get promoted within the two years of your planned extravaganza?

The element about Rhodes and Pilkington is fair, because look just how good they turned out and how quick they made an impact. The part about the academy is just nonsense, how anyone sees this as something that would come to fruition almost immediately is beyond me. I'm surprised they can see past their nose!

The only " big picture " i look at is the up to date championship league table which shows towns woeful defensive record. Town have bought some crap in this season especially in Hudson , Edgar and Poyet , and the club needs to replace Wilson with someone who has the experience to spot real talent who can take this club back to where most feel it belongs.. Your 'big picture' lasts weeks. Thats not a big picture though is it.. If you went back about 4 weeks your big picture would have looked pretty good, even with a lousy goals against record. If you want to look at a 'big picture' then look at it year on year at least. This season we might not make any progress in the end- might even go backwards a little. Boo hoo. First time thats happened in about 8 seasons. It isn't unnacceptable. Its what happens. If youve been suffering for the time we've been in this division, presumably because we don't win as much, then I genuinely feel sorry for you. After all those years of League 1 dross its a real shame you can't enjoy competing at a decent level. There haven't been many times since the days of Frankie Worthington where we haven't been under-achieving, so history says you should enjoy them whilst they're here. Ive loved the last 3 seasons myself. The ups , the downs , the challenges, people remembering who the fuck we are again. I certainly don't crave going back to watching comfortable but low quality victories over Notts County Walsall and Orient like some seem to.
