I don't thing the club would loan him out if he was a serious Scannel beater - he probably needs full match fitness and tuning up - a month of football at a competitive football should help him no end. Sensible move I think.

I disagree - the manager and the chairman have both come out and said that Lolley is a player that the whole club is excited about. I'm sure Joe knows his own short-comings. Going forward he looked great when he came on yesterday but when he was having to track back he looked lightweight and inexperienced. It's only a 1 month loan and the kid desperately needs game time. Didn't realise he was 23! He needs to 'make it' soon. He tackled the hell out of Lansbury on one occasion. Loved it. Haha! Yeah I'd forgotten about that - great tackle I thought and we don't see enough of it in today's game. As per Waterloo Terriers post though, that came from him losing the ball when trying to cut inside and was a desperate tackle that resulted in a freekick in our own half. As much as I want to see our plays putting meaty tackles in perhaps a little more experience would have meant he didn't have to.

I can fully understand this loan though if I am honest I do not really want to see him leave . It is only for a month I suppose and after his injuries last season I would admit that he needs to be playing more first team games and importantly for longer than 10 minutes. Hopefully will be playing the majority of games, building up match fitness and gaining a bit more professional savvy. We should be happy if he plays well there, but we all know what will actually happen.

carayol played for the first 20 minutes yesterday. never seen a bloke less up for a tackle/challenge , roberts was fairly bad but this lad takes the prize.. we really do need everyone in the 10 outfield players working and challenging..

Fine. Please tell me who we'll bring on from the bench now to shake things up in matches.....Hogg? Billing? Flo Bojaj? Dempsey, Paterson when available. Dempsey? Probably loaned out soon as well. Forgot about Paterson, I'll give you that.

Plenty of attacking options available. He tackled the hell out of Lansbury on one occasion. Loved it. Only because he gave the ball away trying to run through three players instead giving the easy ball. He'll go on loan for a month and come back a better player for the experience. Nothing to worry about. Vaughan? We'll see.....Scannell starts, Carayol starts, Miller starts, Bunn starts. That leaves Paterson right now, then.

Exactly this, he's not been badly managed but that is an example of why he hasnt been starting or been given more time off the bench, perfectly understandable, hopefully he'll come back a better player and be ready to push for a starting place. At one point last night he was last man and decided to try to beat his man, he managed it but it a stupid thing to do and could have resulted in a goal against. Game time should hopefully rule out those poor decisions as well as improving his all round game.

It's not exclusive to Lolley.

Game time should hopefully rule out those poor decisions as well as improving his all round game. He gets 10 minutes at most a match, he doesn't have the luxury of being able to play safe. He has to try and impress from the off. Unfortunately that means at times he tries too hard and tries to take on 1 too many. Had he come on on the hour mark I would expect you'd see a less aggressive/risky game.

he needs games so loaning him out makes sense. what doesnt make sense is why he doesnt get more games here.

I think the timing is good. Due to international breaks and not playing this weekend, he'll only miss three matches for us in the 28 days, whereas Scunny will play during the break. I suspect the thinking is that we'll need a more defensive focus at Wolves and Ipswich and really should have enough without him for the MK dons home match

He got on last night, if he plays tomorrow that's an extra game for him and there's an international break so that's another game he'd miss with us. By the time his loans up he could've played 4 games for them as opposed to 2 sub appearances for us

I actually thought he looked a bit like a young kid in the playground chasing his man back in the 93rd minute near our box. Had he been any closer, I'm sure he'd have hacked him down and conceded a penalty there. Exciting going forwards but has to be able to do the dirty side and still plenty to learn imo

I was encouraged by his cameo yesterday, Scannell despite being largely anonymous did provide Bunn with our best opportunity yesterday, if we are to persisit with this formation then Scannell has to recapture last season's form and Carayol needs to continue as he started yesterday but not disappear again like he did yesterday. I see Holmes, Bojaj and maybe Charles (for width) being on the bench in the next 3 games. I would expect Lolley to be pushing either Carayol or Scannell for playing time upon his return.

He did more in the time he was on yesterday than scannell did all game, our management of him has been terrible but hope he gets some confidence back in this loan. Nearly lost us the game in the last minute of injury time - weren't you watching? He badly needs prolonged involvement in games. Good move.

lolley or carayol?? suggest it will be lolley on his return.. carayol wants to play with the ball at his feet, he does not look like he wants to run, win the ball or make a challenge?? he is in the wrong team here, same as he was at the hard working boro set up.. Eh - looked like he could do both to me. He has a much better range of passing and crossing than your normal speedster.

Mixed feelings but the club had given clues to this happening - Powell admitted he keeps Scanz on his toes. Paterson/Bunn/Carayol historically more left wingers so not sure who provides competition for Scanz now?
That said Joe is really raw still and will be good to get some full 90 minutes under his belt at league 1 level. Hopefully he'll rip it up, learn a lot and come back to really put pressure on Scanz.
We must still have a decent relationship with Robins...

Think he's only loaned out because he's now knocking on the door finally. A few competitive games to bring him up to full speed makes sense. No need to all panic. Fine. Please tell me who we'll bring on from the bench now to shake things up in matches.....Hogg? Billing? Flo Bojaj? Paterson. The player we brought in to do just that.

You're right it was as I saw on the highlights, but it was a fantastic pass from Whitehead to put him clear, speaking of which Whitehead was immense last night, it's the first time I've seen him play for Town and he reminded me of Barry Horne with his dominance in midfield.

Lolley was a breath of fresh air - impact sub at the moment, just put him on when Carayol goes off the boil. A month's regular starts should do him the world of good at Scunthorpe.

All opinions, I thought Carrayol was the main thorn in their side in the first 20 minutes,
Lets hope we have had the gumption to insist on a " must play clause " as part of Lollys loan deal.

Joe is a raw and exciting talent. Not sure I want to see that coached out of him. We need excitement and entertainment and there's a feeling of expectation when he gets the ball that you don't get with others.
