Say what you like about Powell but look at it this way. The players on the field have scored 3 goals between them in 5 league games, that is 1 goal every 150 minutes! That is totally uncceptable. We have won 3 points and sit 22nd without a win. No matter what we all think on here if he keeps this run of form going he will not last much longer!

I have a suspicion that the lack of signings this window may be down to the fact that Dean maybe hasn't made his mind up with Powell.
If Powell gets us firing then happy days and maybe some of the money will be used to further strengthen. If not then adios and the new manager will have funds in January.

My thoughts exactly! people who know the game will have a understanding of the situation the manager finds himself in. players he wanted to keep sold and expected to be happy about it. Dean as the owner has to do whats right for the club is statement we will always sell to make long term progress might seem negative but really its reality. i believe the manager will be backed but like anything else if things dont improve(and im not talking about the next couple of games) there wmay well be a change but it will not be the total fault of the manager or the board. We are where we are and lets see what happens because this division is tough and i believe town can and will survive but dont rely on the huddersfield public for any great support the giants are in the same boat and they have a relative winning team. The only gripe i really have is the academy start producing or change the personell

Hi all firstly after years of reading the forum I've finally decided to join so please play nicely . I guess my question to those who want Powell out is what more do you think he can do. I know we'd all love to watch exciting attacking football but we just font have the players to do it. If we went out like that sure it'd be fun for a while but we'd soon all be bored of getting out scored. At least this way we have a chance of grinding out a result .It's not just him either is it. All the managers we've had under Hoyle have been the same other than the intial period under Clark where we were actually spending money on players. Surely at some point we have to accept we just don't have the personal rather than just keep on sacking managers .

I didn't go to these games. Can you put your finger on why they turned out like that. Do you think Powell sent them out with any different instructions and intent or in wildly different formations than usual? Wouldn't it be more to do with how Derby, Norwich and Ipswich were set up to attack us? Or did team just collectively say - what the f*ck - we might as well have a go back? These are not meant to be rhetorical questions. Couple of the away games - say at Brentford and Bournemouth they forced us back and we couldn't do much about it.

Don't get me wrong I'd love to see us be more attacking and the games you mention are certainly a few of the more enjoyable ones in recent years .The point I was trying to make more is that I see the problem as more than a Powell thing . The last 4 managers we've had have all served up the same dour football .Maybe we've just made bad choices when it comes to managers but 3 of them at least had some level of success elsewhere so why are they all doing so bad here? Or are we all just expecting too much?

The problem with our last two managerial appointments is that neither of them have a sustained period of success at Championship level. Robins kept Barnsley up in his first year but I'd class that as the anomaly not the norm, next year they finished 18th and he did the infamous MR walks out. Powell faired better in Charlton's first year back in Championship, finishing 9th. But he was sacked with Charlton at the bottom of the league. Powell & Grayson are both successful L1 managers, Robins hasn't really achieved anything substantial anywhere. They are the level below what the club needs in its current position. Mick McCarthy for example – proven Championship manager but not so successful in the PL. He has continued to prove he is capable of getting a team to compete at this level, just like Grayson has continued to show he is capable of doing it in the league below.
