Maybe folk will get off Dean's back now - "as the very first bid came in a few weeks ago, he wanted to leave us there and then. He didn’t want to play for us anymore from then on with immediate effect."Players simply dont care. its possibly a reply to what butterfield has made fairly well known .. believe who you like.. one looks like he is getting a big move and improving his career, not sure what axe he has to grind? other is struggling to run a football club in a big league..

butterfield going is no surprise fantastic offer by derby and one we simply cannot turn down. they next 4 and a half hours are absolutely key we need players that will give there all for the shirt coming in not more season long loans who are just lacking game time and dont care who they sign for

Didn't Dean once say ' We're no longer a club that needs to sell our best player's'? Though tbf, he recently said 'every player has his price' Unless we became Real Madrid or Barcelona then everyone sells Even Man Utd couldn't keep hold of Ronaldo when one of the really big boys came knocking. Likewise Liverpool and Suarez

In professional team sports, tapping up (British English) or tampering (American English) is an attempt to persuade a player contracted to one team to transfer to another team, without the knowledge or permission of the player's current team. This kind of approach is often made through the player's agent. It is expressly forbidden in many professional leagues, but is not illegal.

At the end of the day we have no ambition as a club and a good player like butts deserves a chance at a crack at the prem , he wont get it with us thats for sure , no ambition or a want to get any better thats where we are at simple !!

Though tbf, he recently said 'every player has his price' we dont need to sell - in that if we dont sell a player we're not going to be in danger of administration (because hoyle has been subsidising)...but all that means is we can hold out for good fees for players because clubs have to meet our valuation rather than bully us knowing we'll have to accept any kind of money big difference to him saying we wont sell our best players

He didn’t want to play for us anymore from then on with immediate effect."Players simply dont care. Players 'dont care' to play for a team whose sole ambition is to avoid relegation. If you were the fulcrum of a team that was investing and showing ambition then there would be more of a case to hang around.

Rubbery had ambition, great wasn't it! The fanbase is too small we we have to sell to balance the books. Unfortunately even if Hoyle sanctioned a £20m spending spree I don't we'd get more than 2k more on the gate

Not long now to get our very much needed additions. I fear if signings are not made today we really are planning for relegation. They have had weeks to line up replacements as the likelihood was that the deal would happen, surely it's just putting those plans into action this afternoon.

Hardly going to say he wants to leave...because if derby had never come in with the right bid and he had to stay fans would be 'at' him Very sad to see him go

If you read the examiner article again from the point of view of a player that has been told it is upto us as a club to decide whether to accept a bid for him and being the holder of his playing contract the acceptable number would rise if he did not play and give 100% for us in the meantime. Then both articles would seem to be consistent,

Ah the old he didn't want to be here excuse that gets trotted out after we sell someone If you don't want to believe DH then try reading what Butterfield says.... From his Derby interview “ From day one this move really interested me. Once I heard something could potentially happen, I started to look further into it and there is such a talented squad and now that I have actually come down to the Training Centre and seen it, I am surprised at just how impressive it is. “It’s fantastic and this is a top, top club. With that, you can see why this club is one of the favourites for promotion and everything is set up here to be a Premier League club. “It’s quite strange how unlucky the team have been with injuries to the midfield position. I have signed now, though, and I am just itching to firstly get out on the training pitch this week, get to know the lads and prove to them that I can be an asset to the team. “These two-weeks are going to be key to settling in, but I just can’t wait to get into the games now and pull on a Derby shirt. Read more at www.dcfc.co.uk/news/article/jacob-butterfield-everything-about-derby-county-is-impressive-2662143.aspx#O2D2rv1yWIDQwGyJ.99One wonders why DH bothers when he tells it as it is and the clubs supporters believe he is lying and trotting out the same old excuses. Give yer bloody heads a shake

We dont pay massive wages and the likes of rhodes, coady, butts will prob have TRIPLED their wages at least - do you honestly think any of those 3 would have wanted to stay??? they will have known what they would be offered and will have made it clear they want to leave Everyone goes on about player power how players and agents force moves the minute someone offers them more money, yet when it happens here dean is lying

Someone's just put a pic on Facebook of a snippet of an interview so I don't know who's saying it, but it says we won't be rushed into finding a replacement!
Hold the bloody phone we knew this was happening for well over a week. I'm not having that we haven't had time to find someone else.

To be fair, Butterfield never said "I want to stay / I'm happy here. the Examiner have twisted his words to lead with a headline that has been misinterpreted. To me, the article tells me that if he doesn't get his move, he will carry on as usual.
Powell:
"We wanted to keep Jacob here and he played well in games since the interest came in but equally he made it very clear to me and the chairman that he wanted to leave
Deano:
"I said some time ago the player was not for sale and he was a key player for us. We all wanted to keep Jacob here but he made it very clear as soon as the very first bid came in a few weeks ago, he wanted to leave us there and then. He didn’t want to play for us anymore from then on with immediate effect.
Butterfield:
“My contract has another three years to run, and if nothing happens, I am quite happy to carry on as usual.”
What is clear is that there was an agreement that we would only accept a bid that met our valuation: “The club have said, both publicly and privately to me, that it will take a really big bid for me to be sold."
Curb your enthusiasm folks, the rest will NOT appease most. Don't expect a direct replacement today!
DH: "We are not going to be rushed into a hurried replacement, we have not done that before. It's important we get it right and that means we all must be patient to get the right man in, just as we have done in the past."
Powell:

Taking us to the fringe of propomotion play off is 'great' by that yardstick (and were top of the league on occasions during his tenure) Just wish he would have had bottle to see it through

Absolutely 0 point in keeping a player that doesn't want to be here, so the fact we got the best available price is good from Hoyle. The fact we haven't got a replacement yet and have left it to deadline day to find one is very annoying.

Hold the bloody phone we knew this was happening for well over a week. I'm not having that we haven't had time to find someone else. Hoyle, official site. Must have come as a shock, even though Hoyle is adamant that Butterfield apparently didn't want to play for Town with immediate effect, weeks ago when the first offer came in.
