In this division in this day and age, £3.5 million just doesn't go very far. It would cost us more than that for the striker that we need. Then again we'll probably get a loan player for the rest of the season, he'll do well and then we'll say we can't afford him permanently leaving a gaping hole in the team for next year. Yep that's right, good strikers come from the 3.5m tree don't they? Where do you think Austin and Lambert etc... came from. Do you think they were automatically given a £3m price tag at 16 or something?

We signed Butterfield for 300K (and sold Clayton for £1.5M) as per DH at last season's Canalside Q+A introducing Powell. So that's more than an eleventh and just less than a twelfth If the £3.5M is correct. The deal just gets better and better... if we can replace him, which I believe we can. Do you have anyone in mind ? If we could get anyone near for what we will be spending I will take my hat off to whoever does it. It's a tall order at this late stage and I don't believe that loads of loans will see us in a better position !!!

This is almost exactly deja vu from 12 months ago but substitute Butterfield and Clayton. I would suggest that most fans should be satisfied that they can find replacements, Coady and Butterfield didn't do too bad replacing Norwood and Clayton, so IMO we should believe they will until proven differently.

Wish I'd of bought clayton and then sold him for 1.2m plus butterfield, then sold butterfield for reports of 3.5mill, I wonder what people who do shite business like this have got lined up next.... ( sarcasm in the last sentence for those who are truly in a bubble)

Can't be positive now, dean looking abit stupid after saying he would not be sold. And 3.5 is a joke, should have been 5 million minimum once again another poster who gets is facts wrong. What Dean said was we dont want to sell and we have turned down three offers for him from Derby. Town have had a valuation which maybe derby have met.We will see but everyone as a price

Heard a rumour that Jake Buxton is part of the Butterfield deal. Good business if that is the case! Oh my God. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse. Probably the single biggest reason free scoring Derby missed out on the playoffs last year. Should be playing for Accrington, if at all. In reality, he didn't play a game from March 3rd to the end of the season. When he got injured they were 2nd in the league and one point off the top.

Good player is Paterson, I presume we would be looking to play him behind the strikers as we've just signed Carayol to play wide and there's no way Powell will drop Scannell.

disappointed to see him go ( if this is true) but the realities of the situation are that our strategy is to buy players then sell them on for large profit.
This is the only way we can financially make up for the crap support this town and area gives its championship football club.
2 facts to consider-
1-Its a strategy that has worked well so far. 2- Its the only strategy we have.

Looks like Hogg and whitehead will be playing together after all.
Why do we need Paterson ? Surely it's time to get players where we need them rather than where we have plenty ?
Let's focus on getting ready for the first team players in at Striker, RB and CB.

Shame Rodolph Austin can't get a work permit, would love him here. Out of interest, why wouldn't he get a permit? He's captain of his country?!

Surely we should be putting the money in the Bank to offset losses given the apathy towards the football club from the wider public of this town.
