Great post pipes. I remember after the first game at hull, seeing him and Scanz get straight on the London train, thinking it odd. It now comes out how he was hardly here and the shite level of training. Thank god he's gone tbh. Not good enough or dedicated by sounds. You thought it odd that Scannell got straight on a train to London? Would it have shown dedication if he got straight on a bus instead? Lol not funny Coddy. How the hell could Powell give his all going back to London twice a week though.

This football management lark is all too easy, granted not the day to day stuff, which I accept is challenging.
However it has to be one of the few vocations in life where if you fail miserably, take a month or two out, then decide to start all over again, people are falling all over themselves to hire you again ~ invariably on better terms than your previous job, at which you failed miserably !

It seems to happen at very high management levels quite a lot. There seems to be a feeling that only a select number have the relevant experience in 'big' management jobs (major retail, NHS, Post Office etc)so they seem to go from one to another and get golden handshakes when they cock it up. And so the merry go round continues.

As nice a guy as Powell may be, I expressed my anger after seeing his team sheet for game 1 of his tenure. After this I reluctantly backed him but have to say I'm certainly not sorry to see him go, certainly after what has come out this week.
We can call it stabbing the guy in the back after he has gone but I fail to understand
1. How a guy earning (I'd guess) hundreds of thousands of pounds doesn't feel the need to move closer to his employment and throw himself 100% into the job
2. How he can let a Championship football team get so unfit. Yes, I'd imagine Dean's example was probably an extreme but the fact of the matter is, no matter what our budget is, we have NO excuse not to be the fittest team in the league
On top of this, 3 Pipes post is spot on so I won't go into the other reasons I felt we'd be better off without him

Is it just me that thinks that Powell would do a good job at QPR? most of them are naturally talented and have already proven themselves at other clubs, that's why they spent by the bucket load even if some were misguided signings. He can create a good atmosphere amongst the team, play some half decent stuff and they would get promoted i reckon. I bloody hope they crash and burn though regardless of who is in charge

Have a Snickers old boy. So basically, you're angrily telling me I'm right. Funnily enough I've just had a snickers.. multipack size . I don't get angry on a football message board .. well only once.. ever Do tell, Ted, I must have missed it. Guessing it might have been to do with your old pal, Woolley

In the same vein i am disgusted at the team Wagner played (where was the youth?!?!?!) at Sheffield Wednesday regardless of the fact that we were the better team for 60/70 minutes I'm joking before i get attacked

Leadbitter scored an 'absolute cracker' around the softest wall you will ever see.

Leadbitter scored an 'absolute cracker' around the softest wall you will ever see. Regardless it was still a peach of a strike, if Dempsey had smashed that free kick in you would have drowned in your own tissues. It's not uncommon to see a poor wall, it happens at the top level and it was still a fair way out. I thought it was going to be retribution after the Charlton home game where we hammered them with ten men and conceded in the last minutes but sadly not

Regardless it was still a peach of a strike I was stood right behind it. Good strike but Smithies was slow getting to it and the organisation of the wall was nothing short of pathetic, a point I made to a couple of posters on here before he struck it. Cut the Dempsey shite out, you're about as funny as Les Dennis.

Also, just how soft is their pen?

This is a better angle - bit harsh on Smithies for me - Peltier following their guy in the wall is a mystery.

Also, just how soft is their pen? Funny you should mention that Walt; I was at the other end of the pitch in the North Stand and I couldn't tell, literally couldn't tell one way or the other. My instincts were 'soft' but I'm a tad biased when it comes to Town, I'll accept. Funny thing (for one who gets knocked as an armchair fan) is I couldn't tell for sure until I watched it on the box later that night. Sometimes TV tells you more than actually being at the game.
