Looks a good signing, won three player of the year awards for Fleetwood in 2015 and got a pretty good clean sheet record.

So 3 free transfers and a loan. I know they still cost money but they will pretty much match what it was costing us to pay outgoing players like Huws, Paterson, Steer, Matmour etc.
Like to think there is still plenty in the pot for some real quality to be brought in, in the middle and attacking thirds
Edit: Forgot about RVLP

After the farce that was the last two windows this one is huge for Wagner and more importantly dean Hoyle.

Worrying that we are signing a keeper who's been released by fleetwood who just about survived in league one this year What is there to worry about? Would you have said the same if Town had gone for Ingram whilst he was still at League 2 Wycombe, who is now keeping Smithies out of the QPR team? Maybe Maxwell has refused a contract as he wants to better himself? If it's true that Town are also getting Dan Ward in as well, odds are that Maxwell will be backup anyway. Seems like you're worrying unnecessarily and being negative for the sake of it.

A season in which he was voted Players Player and Supporters Player of the Year I'm sure he will prove a decent signing on a free. Goalkeeper isn't a position to go throwing massive amounts of your limited budget at

Maxwell's a good age as well and seems to have done well with Fleetwood. Or is it just because it's Fleetwood that it isn't "inspiring"? Tell me, where did Leicester sign Vardy from?

A player doesn't have to be a marquee signing to be a decent purchase. Player of the year at his club in each of the last 2 years suggests he's not being released on account of him not being good enough. Still young enough to improve, but possibly good enough to challenge for being 1st choice.
I've never seen him or Danny Ward (gk) play - they might both be great, or they might both be absolute dogshit, I don't know. 2 keepers with something to prove (albeit for different reasons) and both highly rated by their current clubs doesn't sound to me like a reason to be despondent.

Why spend big on certain vacancies when we don't have to? We DO need quality additions, but there are still bargains to be had and, as a back-up keeper, this lad may be one of them. No point in spending money simply for the sake of it... it won't guarantee owt.

Sounds like a good lad, he is doing a charity sponsored walk this summer. He does a lot of charity things for the club, a bit like fellow Welsh man Joel Lynch. Chris Maxwell charity walk

Fleetwood have conceded 56 league goals this campaign. The next team with 56 or less is 9th place Gillingham. Not too shoddy. However I must admit I don't know how many games this lad played to keep the goals against numbers down.

Look at people like Darren Bullock who came from Non league, nobody would of been inspired by his signing or Ronnie Jepson from Exeter for 90k, both ended up being legends at the club. So just because they are free doesn't mean they are crap or not good enough for the club.
Give the lad a chance to see what he is like first!

We're a tiny club in this league....next season most clubs will average higher gate than us whilst also bringing in double or triple the £ for every supporter. The only way for us to progress is to be smarter and keep moving in the right direction. We've had the revolutionary shake up...next season and beyond need to be about evolution.

Lets give the lad a chance IF and it is an if he is to join us. Lets be realistic about this, even the top clubs rarely have big name back up/second choice keeper, keep the cash for later in the summer when we need it for the quality we require.

How much did pilkington and Rhodes sign for? Sol Campbell never went for a fee to any club he played for.

We should tell Fleetwood we don't want the lad on a free transfer and offer them £500k instead- that way he'll be a much better signing.

If we do sign Ward from Liverpool on a season loan then it makes sense to bring in a back up keeper available for free and only 25! The team needs at least 3 players of proven quality and that costs money and decent wages so the main bulk of funds has to go on this area not a back up keeper.

Cant we just get John 'Budgie' Burridge? Bet we're the only team he's never played for, he'll still be knocking about.

Since when did signing a back up keeper cause so much angst? Since we lost our last 2 games, if we'd won them and everything would have been rosy
