Some questioned the signing of Cranie from League one Barnsley on a free yet he has played well when called upon and before anyone mentions Saturday, he was playing out of position.

Whats with the assumption that Ward is better than Maxwell? I'm sure they'll battle it out in pre season and the most deserving will start the first game
Unless it's part of the loan deal that he starts so many games

Cranie has not taken us to the next level. He was signed as a squad player. We need to start strengthening the first 11 now.

So 3 free transfers and a loan. I know they still cost money but they will pretty much match what it was costing us to pay outgoing players like Huws, Paterson, Steer, Matmour etc. Like to think there is still plenty in the pot for some real quality to be brought in, in the middle and attacking thirds Edit: Forgot about RVLP You'd have hoped so three positions covered and nothing in transfer fees spent all the talk coming out of the club is there is money, Wagner himself said we need quality and quality costs money. After the farce that was the last two windows this one is huge for Wagner and more importantly dean Hoyle. Nothing in transfer fees? Rvlp is costing 750k.

Agree he was signed as a squad player but he should have been a starter all season I think 2/3 quality centre backs can take you to the next level. Boro and Burnley have the best centre backs. Hull have got a few good ones as well, although I hope Derby win the play offs for some Butterfield ad ons.

He may have been approached by Town in the January window. That could be the reason he has not signed a contract extension. He could have been one of the four targets that Wagner had during the window.

Not exactly inspiring though is it, feels like we are taking the cheap option Soccer Saturday said the other week that Middlesbroughs regular back five cost a total of £800,000 in transfer fees. How much did pilkington and Rhodes sign for? Sol Campbell never went for a fee to any club he played for. Sol Campbell manufactured that situation through being as arrogantly self centred a player as he has since demonstrated as a trait after football. Talked Wenger into cancelling his contract because the poor dear needed to get away from England...and walked straight into a deal at that famous overseas club, Portsmouth.

Worth a punt, nice we are getting our business done early 2 goalies sorted plus the 2 German defenders now for the rest! So of the 2 Germans, Lowe is a LB, is Hefelele or what ever he's called a CB then?

Strong rumours at our end that Maxwell is signing for us tomorrow and has turned down yourselves and Rangers in order to do so.
It's believed he'll replace Chris Kirkland as our number 2 whilst we continue to try to buy Sam Johnstone from Man Utd to be our number 1.

Exactly -the very good teams in this division has 3 quality CBs Burnley - Keane, Mee, Tarkowski Boro - Gibson, Ayala, Woodgate (Kalas can play CB too) Hull - Dawson, Davies, Maguire Town have one and he's out of contract in 12 months time!
