Schindler for me as well. To be honest, I think a more than reasonable case could be made for anyone of Mooy, Hogg, VLP, Kachunga and possibly Smith.

Wow. Some exceptionally cringeworthy posts in this thread. I am a massive supporter of the A LEAGUE but seriously to say it's comparable to the championship is just wrong. The League kicks off tonight so if anyone is interested judge for yourself. Getting back to Mooy. He is a very good player and his spell here will determine how far he progresses. With some luck you get promoted and he extends his stay. the A-league is better quality then the Championship i watch both religiously, the CS is more physically demanding but the A-league has better coaches and play better football like it or not. watch the sydney derby tonight, 70,000-80,000 people with one of the best atmopheres in world football way better then anything the CS has ever experienced even the PL has never experienced anything like it. its the truth Please dont talk shit. So the Sydney Derby is better than past Man United v Liverpool, Sheff Wed v Sheff Utd or Arsenal v Spurs? Dont talk shite, theyve history, territorial, work related etc etc and whats so serious about the good old Sydney rivalry? Probably you shop at rival UGG outlets.

A lot of talk about someone who's been our 3rd or 4th best player so far I'm struggling to put a possible three above him. Mooy, Kachunga and VLP for me, so far (with honourable mentions to nearly everyone else!)... but none above him. Schindler, Hogg, kachunga better for me and quite possibly Smith. Could chuck VLP, Lowe, Palmer in to the mix. What a season!

I'd have Schindler, Mooy and Kachunga up for top spot, with the next category being Smith, VLP, Hogg and Lowe (who each in most other seasons would be heading for POTS!). Would be great to keep this up and being able to have an argument for Nahki and Palmer too. Things are too good, I don't like it 😉

Probably watch on average 40-60 games a month across most leagues throughout the world. You mean you sit in front of your telly or computer 40-60 times a month when football is on. On average, I go and actually watch football only about 4-6 times a month. You really put me to shame.

Not saying he is POTS this season but I have enjoyed watching Payne as much as anyone else, and he is not even on most folks list! We have some great options now.

There's only a few teams in the championship that even attempt to play decent football whereas every team in the a-league plays possession based proactive football. It's a much better coached league. The championship has better defenders though because the good Aussie ones all go overseas to asia and europe and teams would rather bring in attackers for their foreign spots not defenders.

I think this whole argument's getting a bit silly and rather pointless. There's obviously a greater number of decent teams and players in the Championship and thats the end of it as far as I am concerned. Maybe one day when the A League has a greater number of teams in the league they might come close but that's a long long way away. I think us Aussies as guests on this forum also should show a bit more respect to the long standing members of this forum. All the best to Huddersfield Town for the remainder of the season.

I'd still like to hear the storey of how we lucked in to him and when. I guess that spot was earmarked for Billing or big Ivan in the planning for this season - and then along comes Mooy. Suppose the main thing for Aussie to worry about is does Championship football improve him - or does he get shagged out? Apart from quiet spots usually at the start of second halves he seems to be coping pretty well physically. I often get the impression he is pacing himself through a game but maybe that's just his languid style. He definitely paces himself throughout games. Very quiet first half hour against leeds. Totally bossed it second half. Similar against Rotherham. Very clever player. Very confident in his own ability (better than most of his opponents so far)

I live in Melbourne. Comparing the A league to the championship is laughable. There's a different, boring, more time on the ball style to the A league not because the players are technically more gifted. Because it isn't as aggressive or competitive. Watched a few games on telly and one live but won't pay to watch it now simply because it's crap (and I say that as a man who had a season ticket when we got relegated from league one).
Atmosphere. If you call a load of young half Greek/Italian/Turk/Lebanese aussie tits thinking there back in the motherland singing shite ultra songs and letting off the odd flare a good atmosphere all the power to you. It doesn't have a patch on proper English games.
You guys ain't on the same page as us when it comes to football, on anything. Kevin bloody Muscat as a coach better than any in the champ? He was one of the dirtiest scumbags around when he was a player.

I think Wagner would say Hudson was MVP because as captain he's led by example in training, focus, consistency and self improvement- he's shown how buying in fully to Wagner's ethos bears results. An old pro who's been around the block showing fresh enthusiasm and open mindedness. Much maligned he has shown the younger players how to follow and how to lead. This is why we are top still- not the form of one or two players but leaders all over the pitch and united approach. This is our chance to secure the future of the club. Dean knows it, Wag knows it. Players believe too.

I hate Kevin Muscat as much as anyone, but much as it pains me to say it he has had his team play modern, play out from the back, possession-based and high pressing football. His off-field persona is completely different too, quite articulate and insightful actually.

By no means an expert. Ive watched British and European football regularly at all levels since a kid and I've been in oz two years and will watch the a league if it's on telly, in a period where you think it's at its highest standard.
Numerous times I've been in a pub with a group of English and Irish lads watching a game last season and everyone's purely taking the piss at how shit it is.
Stop kidding yourselves. Go away. Your a league where has beens go and become top players again or one or two out the league might make it into a decent European team. Melbourne victorys squad wouldn't get out the championship.
Oh yes we no, you beat juventus second string or who ever it was in a meaningless friendly.
I love your city but you lot are on a par with the yanks when it comes to talking 'soccer'. Ive been here long enough to be an expert on that.
