There are just too many qualifiers- it weakens the appeal of internationals and you players pulling out etc. Major tournament Qualifiers should be cut to 6 or 8 games max- mixture of home & away similar to 6 nations. Less quantity, more quality, fresher players, better football.

No friendlies, no players pulling out because they can't be arsed, just full throttle, competitive rugby. The quality has nothing to do with how much the players play together. The problem with football is that the country comes 2nd.

As fifa keep expanding the number of qualifying countries we're going to be pushed to get a full league program in eventually. Can see championship being cut to 20 teams soon. It'll be the season we finish 2nd and only one goes up!

Mooy could become the $30 million man as Premier League suitors circle Aaron Mooy's soaring valuation has hit a new peak with compliments from Pep Guardiola pushing his market worth, in the eyes of at least one Premier League club, into the $30 million range. With parent club Manchester City last month rejecting an $11 million approach from a Championship side for the Huddersfield loanee, the midfielder's dynamic form and Guardiola's endorsement has provoked a new of interest. The World Game has can reveal that a flurry of enquiries followed almost immediately when Guardiola said of Mooy - in the build up to the Terrier's goalies FA Cup draw with City this weekend - "He's playing amazing this season, so we are glad of that." Guardiola impressed by Mooy's 'amazing' form Pep Guardiola has labelled Aaron Mooy's form 'amazing' as the Australia international prepares to watch parent club Manchester City take on his loan side Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup. The Spaniard, who is strongly considering including Mooy in City's first team squad next season, added: "it's not easy coming from Australia to the Championship and playing as good as he is." sources in England suggest that the director of football at one Premier League team placed Mooy in the $30 million bracket as he weighed making an offer. Other top flight clubs have also taken heed, along with the Championship's more cashed up clubs, and it looks highly likely Mooy will be a Premier League player next season. It's just a question of by what route. Mooy was forced to sit out City's fifth round clash with Huddersfield at the John Smith's Stadium, ruled ineligible under the terms of his season-long loan. The same will apply for the replay. Should City decide to cash in on a player they picked up for a token fee from satellite side Melbourne City, the transaction would dwarf the previous highest transfer fee paid for an Australian - the $10.05 million Leeds shelled out to Celtic for Mark Viduka in 2001. Mooy's agent reveals: 'They thought I was dumping treasure in the swamp' Aaron Mooy's agent, Paddy Dominguez, reveals the initial reaction he got from many people when he orchestrated the star midfielder's deal with Huddersfield Town was that he had done him a massive disservice. The only uncertainty, assuming the Socceroos star maintains the form which has helped Huddersfield move to within touching distance of an automatic promotion spot, is whether Mooy stays and plays for City, is sold on to an existing EPL side or goes up with a Huddersfield, and is signed by them. Mooy's Australian-based agent Paddy Dominguez declined to comment when approached over the latest speculation over Mooy's future. theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2017/02/19/mooy-could-become-30-million-man-premier-league-suitors-circle

We need to realise we see this from another angle (and a very fortunate one at that), accept it and move on.

"Dumping treasure in the swap". Yeah, cheers Paddy.
These monthly stories written by his agent for the shackle dragged news agencies get more and more hyperbolic each time.
Yes, he's good. Yes, he's improving. Just stop the hype and let's just see where he and we end up

I was told on Saturday that Mooy has already signed a pre-contract agreement for a £9m transfer to an existing Greedy League club. No names mentioned.

City were crying out for a bit of creativity in Midfield Saturday. I wouldn't swop Mooy for any of those City midfielders.

We'll find, or be loaned, other gems next season....whichever league we find ourselves in. The most important thing to me this season is that the footballing world has noticed us (even if the media ignore us at their peril) and the 'big clubs' now know we play football in the right way and we can develop, protect, and showcase their own talented youngsters.

There's not a chance Mooy will ever play for City though. City couldn't be seen to be drafting in a 26 year old who had failed at Bolton, impressed in the A League, and then spent a year in the Championship, for one of their £30m+ midfielders. it would be embarrasing for them. He will though be sold to a team for a massive profit, and fair play to them...and him

If we did get promoted he would be a bargain at that, not to mention he is key to how we play, £9 million to maintain the team is nothing when getting promoted.

I would think an established Premier League team might be able/prepared to spend far more than us on wages though. Time will tell. It's fun times ahead.

Tbf I thought Delph, Fernando and Fernandinho all looked a bit cluesless when it came to creating anything on Saturday.

However, a bit surprised they had a good deal more possession than us. Their midfield was strong but created bugger all. Really like to see Mooy play at a higher level, hopefully with us, because its difficult to assess just how good he is. Whether he could find the space he does in the Championship, in the Premiership is an unknown, they close down very quickly. There aren't really any similar midfielders in the Premiership to compare him to.

Delph, Fernando and Fernandinho are varying qualities of the same player. They are all runners who are alright alongside someone creative, but as a three? No thanks.
Be like us playing Hogg, Whitehead and Keith Southern and then wondering why we didn't create much. Strange from a side managed by Pep.

Mooy was part of a midfield that was as good if not better than the England midfield in last years friendly Eng v Aus. There was a thought that he still needed to prove himself because of his past and tbh because he was Australian. Pep said it himself. If City are so prejudiced to think that way, it's their loss.
