I thought he was somewhere near his best again tonight.
Villa were a very strong team.
Mooy our only player sprinting to chase the ball down towards the end and overall played far better than he did against Newcastle.

This guy is as honest as the day is long- Put a hell of a shift in again, used the ball well and made the goal. They had 3 very strong, very experienced players in midfield and didn't give us a minute but he and Hogg held their own.

Fair point. I meant McLaren finished top of the Aussies. The question was asked whether there were other Aussies worth looking at. Mooy is hardly once in a generation. Jedinak has arguably done a lot more (and dominated A-League midfields more at CCM). Rogic is an amazing player at Celtic (should be playing in a better league) and there are others like Irvine, Luongo, Ryan, Langerak, Leckie et al doing well in Europe. When Mooy dominates games for the Socceroos you might call him once in a generation, but I can't think of a single game where he's done that, with the possible exception of the friendly against England where he was one of the best players on the pitch (in the losing side). Rogic maybe but rest in my opinion a way behind Mooy.Jedinak was good but his best is behind him. Luongo please. Leckie and Irvine are well below and Ryan and Langerak are keepers so you can't compare. All I'm saying is Mooy is above all the others at this point in time and during this past 6 months he has gone to a new level. I don't know whether you are an ex-pat or not, but I think (if not) it would be interesting for you to come over and see how tough and physical a game English Championship football is. In my opinion it knocks any other sport into a 'cocked hat' with regard to endurance, fitness, athleticism, stamina and skill - and that includes the English Premier League at times. Played in both the best and most atrocious of conditions it can be fantastic entertainment for a mere pittance compered to other sports. Come over and sample a Town match - you would be most welcome I'm sure. Mooy is class.

Top player, we all agree, influential, we agree too. But tonight wasn't his finest game, he looked out of it for the last 10 - 15 minutes. On to Brentford, and back to MOM!! So that wasn't Mooy sprinting 50 yards in the 94th minute to close down their left back? Possibly so, but the lad ws out on his feet.

Not good tonight..... Mooooooo Ooooooooooooy cow. you taking the piss dumbass? wasn't at his very best but to say he was 'not good' is bullshit. I had him 3rd in my MOM behind Shchindler and Schmidt. There were far more players 'not good' last night than Aaron Mooy. His class/ability means expectations are huge every game.

Every one of our players is giving their all for Wagner. None are taking the p-ss IMO
Who knows how factors such as weather, fitness, opposition, pitch, luck, confidence, crowd support, interaction with colleagues, domestic issues (sure there's another ten influences) affect an individual's performance.
All I know is that Wagner is getting a tune out of the orchestra even when some of the instruments appear off key.

Which I think is a good indication as to just how committed to the cause he is. I also saw him gasping for breath close to the end in a little lull of the action....But then he set of charging about again.

I was interested in how he would go. After a few games (which is really frustrating to get full games regularly in Aus) I have found the Championship top notch. I agree fully with you about its standard and from a spectacle it's great and from a neutral you can't ask for more. As the season has developed and how Huddersfield has continued to improve I've found myself more engaged. I've never had a team in the U.k to follow and I'm pretty much on board(good time I guess). If I ever get a chance to come over it will definitely be on my list of things to do to catch a Huddersfield home game. Even when Mooy moves next season(which lately I think is more likely) I will stay with Huddersfield. Especially next season when watching will be heaps easier in the Premier.

Well his first club was Carlingford Redbacks in north west Sydney and Sydney was discovered by James Cook...a Yorkshireman. Cook's ship was the Endeavour and there's no lack of that in Mooy's game.
Mooy is a Dutch name though...total Yorkshire football?

He was immense last year but he has definitely gone to a new level and I reackon he got lucky finding Wagner(much like the rest of the squad). And he does speak English so that must have something to do with it also.😆

Mooy is without doubt one of the best players I've seen playing for Town in the last 40 years, however, I now think it's time to give him more rest, as he has been far from his best lately, IMO. That is not a criticism, as I don't believe he will have ever played so many games in such a short space of time and certainly not at this level - I just think that pre-Christmas he was probably the only player that Wagner felt he could not rotate, as he was so good, but now I feel he could be rotated, like the rest - Izzy Brown included.
What I loved about Mooy on Tuesday was the way he kept going right up to the last minute, the last minute chase back was a superb effort, I think it is highly unlikely he will be with us next season but what a fantastic season he has given us, I can't wish him anything but the best as it is rare, these days, that such a gifted player is willing to put the hard yards in too.

Presumably will be starting vs Iraq in Iran tonight (Melbourne time). The major concern is the pitch. Hopefully he gets through unscathed and a Socceroo win or draw and then can back up Tuesday in Sydney.
With any luck his return to England will be better than last time I reackon he was affected by the heat and humidity in Thailand and took a few games to get back to his best.

Should be relatively cool in Tehran according to weather info, it has rained just about every day this month in Sydney and forecast to continue, pitch is likely to be very ordinary with Rugby League being played on it as well.
Hope Aaron gets through these two qualifiers and comes back in reasonable shape for the match against Burton.
