Just imagine the Newcastle midfield with Shelvey and Mooy alongside each other. What a fine pair they would make ... Eggsactly

Agree re Australia. With a world cup coming up and them having the chance to play in it, if he's playing 20 minutes here and there from the bench with the odd league cup/fa cup start at someone like Newcastle, he'll surely soon drop down the pecking order for them as really you can't pick someone who isn't playing.
With us however he'd probably be guaranteed to start at least 25-30 games (subject to who else we bring in plus the obvious caveat of injuries he may pick up). That'd give him a damn sight better chance of playing in the world cup next summer and I can't see there being anything better than playing for your country in a world cup (well, apart from winning it).

Impression I got from his interview for Man City was that nothing would be decided until after the Confederations Cup so we might be waiting a while!

If Wagner stays and we can get the money right then I think we'll be able to convince him to come back from a footballing perspective.

I wonder if Man City would accept a deal similar to our own with Rhodes and Blackburn, where it's staggered payments.
10 Million over 2 years, for example.

I can't see Mooy back with us, no inside info or owt like that, just a gut feeling he'll want too much in wages.
I'll always be very grateful to the lad though, what a terrific job he's done for us.

Absolute masterstroke how we got him last season..... But you'd rather have Clayton right? I'd love Clayton back, maybe he will as they went down, I really rate our Adam.

Difficult to criticise him, but I do think he slows down our attack at times.
PS Someone pass the tin hat please

Difficult to criticise him, but I do think he slows down our attack at times. PS Someone pass the tin hat please He's there to dictate the pace of our game, slow it when it needs slowing, and quicken the pace when necessary. I thought he was immense in the first half but faded a bit in the second half. We didn't really play our normal possession-based game today, but when we did, Mooy was at the heart of it. At times it looks like he's slowing the game down, but in a flash he can quicken it up again and create something out of nothing. The goal against Newcastle was a great example of this. Take Mooy out of our side and we are a totally different team. He, more than any other player, symbolises our "identity" and style of play. He knits everything together with his obvious quality on the ball, and his tenacity without it. The bottom line is we can't play at 100 miles an hour all the time. At times in a game you need to take the sting out of things and just retain possession. If I have one complaint today it was that we didn't look after the ball well enough at times. We went too long, too early, too often. Mooy is always able to get the ball down, calm things down and find a team mate. That ability cannot be underestimated.

It was like watching twins (In a footballing sense) with Mooy and Davis
Both very classy midfielders who can control a game

Difficult to criticise him, but I do think he slows down our attack at times. PS Someone pass the tin hat please I think it is deliberate. Mooy controls the tempo of our game. If something isn't on, he slows the game and recycles the ball to start another attack somewhere else. I'd say what we are seeing is the classic German tempo of 'slow, slow, quick, slow'. If it's all, 'quick, quick ,quick', a team can sit back, soak up the pressure and hit you on counters, if it is all 'slow, slow' slow' the defending team pushes up, reducing space and you loose the ball. I think changing the tempo of a game is a very important tactical area.

He looked knackered at the end of the first half Last season he often looked tired for the first 20 of the second half - think he is just pacing himself really. He is so laid back he looks half asleep in his post and pre-match interviews.

Difficult to criticise him, but I do think he slows down our attack at times. PS Someone pass the tin hat please One of the things i like most about mooy is he is willing to slow down the game for a moment; for the sake of keeping possession/composing ourselves. I'll often think "he should have played that.." then he takes a moment, a little turn, and plays a pass I didnt see.

Difficult to criticise him, but I do think he slows down our attack at times. PS Someone pass the tin hat please Think you need to take the 'tin hat' off because it must be covering your eyes! Mooy's the main man and ran the show for us again today. Billing was a little less effective than previously (maybe fatigue for such a big lad at such a young age), and maybe Hogg will let Mooy help more in attack. The illusion you are seeing is because Mooy has the ability and knowledge to know when NOT to pass it. He waits for the right option to appear: something other players could learn from. Mooy never whacks in a cross when nobody is in the box as his awareness is that great. We wont have a player as good as Mooy again for a very long time.

How can I be sat at the back of the Riverside with a clear view of the whole pitch, while Mooy has 3 guys stood around him blocking his view, trying to tackle him yet he'll pick out a pass I didn't even see was on and make it. What a man

Mooy didn't do anything outstanding today but he always seemed to make time to find another player. You don't get much space at this level but he was the one Town player who could make the space and he seldom lost possession.

Mooy could find space in a single bed with Gemma Collins in it!

I said last year he's the best player I've ever seen in a town shirt. What he has done this season thus far only cements those thoughts. Outstanding. Schindler is probably the best defender I've seen at town too.
