Hate VAR, not just cos of these incidents. It ruins the moment, and football is all about those moments. VAR is basically a ruined orgasm. Been saying basically this for ages but never managed the quality metaphor

Is Sabiri in the German squad for tonight's game against Phil Bill's Denmark u21's ? VAR's had a Serbian player red carded for a tackle that looks to have broken an Austrian players leg. Just looked like an accident to me.

Phil starting. The Danish goalie, the commentators informed us, has spent the season at Oldham and has now returned to his parent club Leicester City. Oh and Phillip Billing has spent the last 2 seasons in the PL with Huddersfield

Still, the majority of my fellow drinkers were happy when die Deutsche mannschaft scored.

Nevertheless has shown his superb range of passing in that first half and playing quite well. imo.

stats on SSN showed bacuna 3rd in the midfielders who have done the most walking on the pitch after pogba this last season but he's not being lambasted as lazy.

I watched the last twenty minutes of the first half and he was moving around the pitch more than probably anyone, in particular always the quickest to get back into position when defending. Could've been more robust when around the action mind. The game itself was pretty slow.

The powers that be doing everything they can to make sure that France beat Nigeria. The usual soft VAR penalty, which they miss, but then given another chance to take it because the goalie was half an inch off her line - totally ignoring the fact that there were at least 2 French players encroaching.

Did I dream this or did Bournemouth actually pay £20m for Solanke? He's absolutely shite.

Boothroyd committing managerial suicide there. England 1-0 up, down to ten men & he puts two forwards on against one of the best teams in the tournament? What the fuck was that about? Bizarre.

Looks like we really have given up on Phil Billing. Not one mention of Denmark U21 v Austria U21. Fwiw, it looks like he played the whole game in a 3-1 win for his countrymen, which is good for Denmark as they still have a chance of qualifying for the semi-finals. Philip Billing, already the forgotten man in Huddersfield? Could be a dodgy situation if nobody meets our asking price and PH keeps insisting that he has no intention of being lowballed!

If no one comes in to buy him he'll need to get his big boy pants on, man the fuck up and start playing football again. Sell him, keep him, it's a win/win for us.

I'm not that confident atm that it's a win/win for us. He's only got a year left on his contract and time can go quickly! A combination of Denmark getting through to the semis of the U21 tournament, him missing the first week of pre-season training, and probably not being taken to Austria (hope I'm wrong on that one - would all-in-all like him to be with us and fight for his place in the Championship), and general slackness-in-persuasion on the part of his advisors could result in him still being here by the start of the season in August! If it got to that stage, then I'd want Jan Siewert to start looking at what sort of olive branches he could offer, bearing in mind the next time he could be sold would be January. Don't forget, he's only got a year or so left on his contract, and as the (albeit amicable) escapade with big Collin Quaner shows, it's not always easy to shoo away players. Otherwise, I agree - if he does end up staying, then it's time to get his head down and work hard.

Club has an option for another year. 2 years is a long time not playing, he’d better shape up because he’ll be forgotten by the time he leaves and would most likely only get a Championship contract. All assuming we don’t sell this window.

Didn't realise we had a 1-yr extension option with him. Mind you, these can get complicated. If Town has a UEC (unilateral extension clause) with him, then this would give Town the exlusive right to extend the employment relationship with Billing. If he has a reciprocal clause, then both parties would need to agree to the extension. And, as far as I know, even a UEC can be contested, for instance, in the event of the player not being legally advised prior to signing. Here's quite an interesting article on the subject: www.lawinsport.com/topics/articles/item/unilateral-extension-options-in-football-contracts-are-they-valid-and-enforceable
