It just goes to show how far the terriers have progressed, good effort but we came up short today , not much luck and playing against a very cautious team who we expected better from. UTT 'Cautious' makes Newcastle sound a lot more attacking than they were!

Much that I dislike Boros and Burnleys style of play when they were in our league they played ugly football but it got them up .Newcastle are doing exactly the same.We will learn from that loss tonight,we were too slow in build up and lacked a cutting edge.It will make us stronger.

I'm fucking livid for various reasons, at Town, they worked hard but no end product, the ref terrible, Danny Ward never rated him. Big crowd in and we blow it just like we have done on every occasion in the past, something I thought we'd stopped doing, evidently not. History has nothing to do with it. The side with most of the best players in the league was gifted a lead in a game they came to draw. Their keeper made two quality saves and they fouled, blocked and nicked their way to victory. There was no negative reflection on our performance today. We did as best as we could in the circumstances.

I also don't recall us blowing it many times on the numerous other times this season that we had a big crowd in. What utter b0ll0x

How did we lose to that shower of shit? Ironically, we were too dominant, forcing them to hit speculative long balls out of defence, which with a combination of luck and poor refereeing won them the game. Honestly don't think we were dominant. Three teams have wooped us this season - Newcastle tonight - Sheff Wed - Fulham All played our own game against us with quick counter attack. We cannot defend against our own style of football it seems. Eh ... Newcastle and Sheffield Wednesday just defended their box and had a couple of jammy counters. We can't play like that in a million years. Fulham arsholed us at our our own game for 45 mins. When other teams come out a bit we usually find the space and win.

If it's the sign of a good team to play badly and win, then Newcastle are the best side in the world right now.

Newcastle made Middlesbrough and Burnley look like Barcelona! I know Rafael is a cautious manager but that was as defensive a team as I've seen in a long time. It took them until the 72nd minute to put 3 consecutive passes together! We lacked a cutting edge, but take the fortune out of all four goals (both pens are soft) and that game ends 0-0. And that's what Newcastle came for. I bet they can't believe they got all 3 points from a defensively sound but terrible attacking performance. Going forward they were the worst team I've seen with the exception of Blackburn. They'll get found out in the Prem.

I think Newcastle did have a plan, let us have the ball and pressured hard on Billing and Mooy, and didnt allows us around the back. They did it well. However we could have got something out of that game, we didnt have much luck with the ball or decisions. We played well though against a team of good players apart from a couple of defensive howlers. My biggest worry is that we may lose mental momentum which is crucial for us. Villa game is really important to get back in the winning habit. We ARE a great team and need to bounce back

We cannot defend against our own style of football it seems. You might have a point. From that possession though, it screams of us needing a Rhodes (back in his early days) type finisher. Wells didn't cut it today and Quaner didn't get enough of a chance IMO. I sometimes wonder how Kachunga would do as a poacher up front. As a team and possession, we piss it every time. We need to convert this possession though. To be fair, I thought the Toon keeper saved some good efforts today. No way. Rhodes wouldn't have had a sniff today, we didn't create any of the type of chances Rhodes scores, and he doesn't create any himself.

I don't feel as bad as I thought I would if we lost. We played so well. It's been a long time since we had a team where everybody is bloody good and then we bring on subs who are bloody good too. Their defence was good for sure, but the best team lost today. I'd sort of agree with that. Their defence was outstanding. We would never be able to play like that, and for that I've got mixed feelings. Wish we could but kinda glad we don't. Think you have to say well done Rafa and their defence. We didn't create a single clear chance despite our general magnificence. Oh that we would have someone like Murphy to step up. VLP MoM for me. Thank you , I also thought VLP was superb and cocky, think when you get to a certain level you have to be. Wish we'd of brought Colin on , on 70 just to try and get beyond enemy lines

Deserved so much more. Shame badly let down by our absolute vagina of a goalkeeper.

But actually when it came to standing up and being counted we lose 3-1. The result was disappointing but the performance was good. Not perfect, but good against a team with no attacking ambition at all. It can be argued we didn't do enough to win, but we certainly didn't deserve to lose. Only one team played football, but unfortunately everything that could go against us did so. Newcastle had three chances and with a large slice of luck took them all. They created very little. I'm still proud of my team tonight.

First goal is so important so I thought the ref was poor on that, otherwise we can't complain too much. He should have sent Colback off in the second half probably, but it probably wouldn't have made much difference playing against 10 in that type of match.

One of his best performances in a Town shirt.

We lost that and didn't win at Barnsley because of bad luck
Newcastle beat Brighton and us through a ridiculous amount of luck
I really hope we don't lose in the play offs due to similar circumstances.

They didn't pose any sort of threat though and their tackling and their time wasting for 70 minutes was cynical in the extreme.
