Thank you , I also thought VLP was superb and cocky, think when you get to a certain level you have to be. Wish we'd of brought Colin on , on 70 just to try and get beyond enemy lines VLP was my MOM too. Played well with some strong running and even looked to play his team mates in. One of his best performances in a Town shirt. Played well but once again didn't use Lowe on the overlap once. Buhler was going crazy at him about it and he just shrugged his shoulders No end product again though unfortunately

you can see why newcastle have such a good away record...sit back...absorb the pressure then hoof for the fast players ..it's not pretty, it's not really entertainment...but it's effective and will get them back to the premier league (maybe for one season). We won at theirs early on so 3 points out of the two games is ok for me - we haven't lost any ground on brighton although the other 3 play off teams all won...
beat Villa on Tuesday and we're rocking again.. I don't want to say anything about the ref tonight, except he joins the long list of totally f*cking useless tw*ts we've had this season. Some Town fans were singing 'get your new car in the morning...' made me chuckle..

Well, they defended well, and their 12th man in the black also made the right decisions from their perspective. First goal is so important so I thought the ref was poor on that, otherwise we can't complain too much. He should have sent Colback off in the second half probably, but it probably wouldn't have made much difference playing against 10 in that type of match. It might have helped at 2-1 down, but the ref was their little helper tonight, not ours.

I'd sort of agree with that. Their defence was outstanding. We would never be able to play like that, and for that I've got mixed feelings. Wish we could but kinda glad we don't. Think you have to say well done Rafa and their defence. We didn't create a single clear chance despite our general magnificence. Oh that we would have someone like Murphy to step up. VLP MoM for me. Thank you , I also thought VLP was superb and cocky, think when you get to a certain level you have to be. Wish we'd of brought Colin on , on 70 just to try and get beyond enemy lines I think we needed an old fashioned Boothy type centre forward (like Murphy) so we could bomb the box a bit more and get our nuts on a few for 15 minutes.

A game of tiny, almost microscopic margins. It could have gone either way.

Lowë was my MOM then Smith.
Mooy had a poor first half by his standards for me, but then was brilliant second half.
I thought Shelvey was good at mopping up everything around their box. That little ginger shit (sorry gingers) wanted chinning.
Anyway onward to Tuesday.

But actually when it came to standing up and being counted we lose 3-1. The result was disappointing but the performance was good. Not perfect, but good against a team with no attacking ambition at all. It can be argued we didn't do enough to win, but we certainly didn't deserve to lose. Only one team played football, but unfortunately everything that could go against us did so. Newcastle had three chances and with a large slice of luck took them all. They created very little. I'm still proud of my team tonight. I agree we didn't deserve to lose but to say we lack cutting edge at times in an understatement. The way Newcastle played is of no comfort tonight as they're off up the A1 with 3 points and barring a miracle promotion all but secured.

I actually thought Newcastle put in a very controlled away performance. Taking their chances, all gifted and stuck rigidly to two banks of 4, working hard, blocking, tackling despite them being unimpressive. They were fit quick and organised. They didn't pose any sort of threat though and their tackling and their time wasting for 70 minutes was cynical in the extreme. Yeah but they got 3 points and have one foot in the Premier League.

Wells is a big arty-farty puffta when it comes to free-kicks (and pens). He needs to be strapped in a chair and forced to watch Peter Clarke motivation videos. Take it like you mean it.

And matching Man City. Ridiculous comment, as always. Matching Man City? They pounded us 5-1 and we've blown a big chance to close second place down to 3 points tonight. You spoke of home games, sell out crowds and big occasions. You know exactly what I meant.

Facts...
1 - the most one sided game I've ever seen us lose despite dominating.
2 - still annoyed about Coleman going up (I know the goal doesn't matter because our goal difference is so bad anyway but the incident took the wind out of our sails when 5 mins is still a lot of chances to. S had)
3 - thankfully Brighton lost so we are still only 3 points behind them if we win our game in hand.
4 - I now firmly believe we are the best, strongest team in the league, we just need more converted chances.
5 - we had 4 really good chances from 25 yards... why don't we try that more often?!?
6 - if we had scored first and forced Newcastle to attack us we would have had a field day.
7 - they tired after 40 minutes.
8 - Brighton play derby this week who have hit form recently.

The ref must have realised at half time that it was not a Newcastle penalty , and was waiting through the second half to even things up.
Ward certainly did not have two hands on the ball when it was taken off him for the second Newcastle goal.
Towns possession bossed the game from start to finish , but sadly the forwards of Wells Katchunga and Brown had little to offer
Town pushed for the equaliser, and got caught out badly
M O M should have been Mooy who was outstanding from start to finish

Except the games against Leeds... oh and Brighton... ah and the pretty good display against Citeee with the second team... and the multi-million players of Derby... and Reading... But actually when it came to standing up and being counted we lose 3-1. So we didn't stand up to be counted against Brighton or Leeds or Reading? Stop talking out of your fucking arse, you sound like a whiny teenager. We gave it a good go and came up short after conceding the first goal which was so important - accept it, man up and move on.

Folk can't call Newcastle shit. They've won 13 away this season, top scorers and best defence. We dominated possession as usual but we didn't put them under any real pressure. They defended well and we didn't put enough quality balls into the box. We'll beat most teams if continue to play the way we do, but you have to accept that like Middlesbrough last season they sat back and took their opportunities when they arose, despite all three goals being lucky. This. They flooded the midfield and we were indecisive out on the wing. Aside from the first 20 when we were losing the ball often we took two touches minimum going forward which stymied our attacks. As much as I feel we deserved a draw, their game plan worked tonight as much as Shef Weds did both times this season. Nothing to fear, Brighton will drop 4 more points than us come end of the season. I'm certain Brighton will drop more points than us. We do need to learn to release the ball earlier though, let wells, VLP and Quarner use their pace.

You might have a point. From that possession though, it screams of us needing a Rhodes (back in his early days) type finisher. Wells didn't cut it today and Quaner didn't get enough of a chance IMO. I sometimes wonder how Kachunga would do as a poacher up front. As a team and possession, we piss it every time. We need to convert this possession though. To be fair, I thought the Toon keeper saved some good efforts today. No way. Rhodes wouldn't have had a sniff today, we didn't create any of the type of chances Rhodes scores, and he doesn't create any himself. We had not target man. Where did all the shots come from?

I don't think we miss palmer but I do think we miss him pulling players out of position and creating more space for brown and mooy. I think tonight we would have benefited from lolley or even billing playing more that role.

A game of tiny, almost microscopic margins. It could have gone either way. we dont score enough..tiny, microscopic but the truth.. could we play as newcastle did and score 3??? doubt it very much.. cant help the penalty and the offside second, 3 decisions wrong(including it looked to me as thoigh the ball was kicked out of wards hands) in a short time but at 0-2 we are not coming back.. its a very hard way of trying to get goals and its proved a bit too difficult again..

News to me but the one hand with pressure on looked to have been achieved

At least we put the Mooy/Shelvey comparison to rest. Joe, What did you think of the two's performances today? I got stuck into Shevey against Brighton because I thought he was lazy defensively. Today he at least appeared to be marking someone, (didn't come within a bulls roar of anyone against Brighton) but doesn't look like he can tackle to save himself. I personally think whatever Shevey's valued at Mooy must be worth at least as much. This is not the end of the section as far as automatic promotion for the Terriers as far as I'm concerned, we can still get second spot.

Why, cos I expressed an opinion on tonight's game? Stop being a wet blanket. Tonight was a massive chance to close in on Brighton, we blew it, we didn't deserve to lose but when the chance was there we didn't take it. You can say what you want about the ref but the bottom line is Newcastle won an important 3 points. You can all say Newcastle are unimpressive and say that Brighton are bottling it but they are 11 and 6 points in front of us now respectively, think we'd all swap places with them right now.

Highlights are on channel 5 now.
Definitely NOT a penalty. He trips over his own feet and there doesn't seem to be any touch from Wells. A certain handball from Shelvey immediately before it anyway so it should be academic.
It is also clear that Ward had the ball under control. He had it clasped against his midrift with one hand (which has already been established earlier in this thread means that he has it under control).
Very unlucky that two huge decisions went against us. The first goal was huge and it was given to them by the ref.

We lost that and didn't win at Barnsley because of bad luck Newcastle beat Brighton and us through a ridiculous amount of luck I really hope we don't lose in the play offs due to similar circumstances. Yes every time you lose its because of bad luck and every other time a rival wins it's because they're playing hoofball which is no match for Huddersfield Town's (snigger) superior brand of total football. All this coming from a set of fans that hold Andy Booth as a club legend. Get back in your bin. If 'all they did was hoof it forward', what does that say about your team that conceded 3? Lol.
