But we shouldn't have been taking penalties now if he'd scored from 6 yards late into extra time, Golden opportunity missed. This is the difference between a top class striker and a striker that needs 3/4 attempts at goal to score once. If I was Wells I'd have that contract signed sharpish, he's never going to get a better chance of playing Premier football and fight for his spot and the pitch. Dean Hoyle won't let him walk away in 12 months for nothing. That's not really true though. If Nahki decides to stay and force his way into the team then there is not a lot Dean Hoyle can do. With the news he may be out for at least three weeks its unlikely he will be going anywhere soon although you can never say never. As for his contract situation you are correct if he wants to run his contract down town cannot force him to leave so as long as he is still at the club I'm sure he will be supported.

According to Wagner, Nahki has a screw in his ankle from an old injury from about 10 years ago which is now causing him pain, he may need surgery to remove this screw and will be out for 2 to 3 weeks, also we haven't had any official bids from any clubs yet.

Good news if true. Get a few clubs after him and you can end up getting much more than hes worth.
Whatever we do get, the chickens will take about 20% of anything over £1.6m and the player himself will get a pretty big contract settlement for his remaining year. So hopefully its a few million

I'd be happy with what we originally paid, his wages since he's been with us and a little cherry on top.

If/when he comes back to play against us he should get a massive ovation.

I'd like to see him play, for Town, in the Prem. It was his rock-soild penalty which kept us in it.

Just put some more money on him to go to Burnley. No secret they want another striker & Dyche likes him, plus think we'll drop our valuation with him being injured and only 1 year left.
Thank him for his goals over the years but time to move on. Makes me think that we may be in for another striker though? If Wells goes, Wagner also seems to be unsure on Depoitre then no doubt we'll need another striker.

The list of suitors should be getting longer by the day.
For any club in the Championship needing to score a few more goals either to contend at the top or get away from the bottom, I doubt there is a more proven striker available than Wells. Even Burnley might fancy a shot as with only a few months left on his contract, he'll be available at a reasonable price.
Yes, I don't believe he's the most complete striker but he's certainly good for a goal every third game.
Surprised Norwich are in though as if they are wanting to emulate what we did last season then they could find a better-fit striker elsewhere. It felt as though Wells was a little bit of a square peg in a round hole at times. He was certainly better than the rest of what we had available for #9, but Mounie has already shown in just 3 matches how that striker has to play.
Think we'll get 6mil+ add ons. Fair for everyone.

It's alright talking about his movement (which isn't even that good anyway) but if Wells had played in the first 3 games I very much doubt we would have 7 points. You can't underestimate the impact having a big target like Mounie has. With Wells up there the ball would be forever coming back and we would be constantly under the cosh

I don't care who you are, no player is bigger than a club, especially ours. The bloke has consistently refused a contract.. could have been ill advised or simply just wanted a shot at the big time which he doubted he'd get with us which is understandable, but at the end of the day he's never been "loyal" to us so why should we be to him? His goals have been essential in the years that kept us up but we've grown and moved on, and he's not going to be influential at this level. 1 year left, sell up, bank as much as we can and spend elsewhere that can improve us as a team.

Him starting first 3 games wasnt really ever a thought was it? Depends whether he would be replaced or not. If not, id rather keep him (unless an offer we cant refuse). A few million wouldnt make much difference if he could score a couple of goals of the bench

I'd hope for more composure when one on one with the opponent's keeper. No doubt the lads goals kept us up in the season before last and he got the shit kick out of him most of last season. Respect, but we've moved on now and hopefully Nakhi does too. Just not to a club we'll be playing this season.

Wouldn't start him, Mounie is first choice, all our attacking options are similiar, Nahki off the bench, last 20 minutes, would have posed a different challenge, to the Southampton defence - UTT.

Hard working, scores goals, constantly trying to improve - not much to dislike, but you have to feel he is at the limits of his ability for Wagner's style.
May well flourish in Dyche's system though - not sure I'd be happy with Burnley getting an upgrade on Barnes.

Don't get this 'hard working' tag hes got. One of the main reasons his goalscoring record was so dismal last season was his lack of effort to actually get in the box and put himself in goalscoring positions. I don;'t see how floating about outside the area whilst our wide men are about to put over a cross, counts as hard working. His movement generally last season was poor IMO

I'd like to see him come on and see what he could do for us, but his Wikipedia page shows a recurring pattern of this and it smells of ill advisement.

I'm not saying it isn't a frustrating part of his game but half the time last season he either puts an early cross in to a non existent striker and gets dog's abuse, or checks back, delays and finally puts a cross into a stagnant striker who has by now jogged into the box, offering little movement and is comfortably marshalled and again gets dog's abuse, or tries a shot himself because he's already seen the futility of the aforementioned, and gets dog's abuse.

Have you ever wondered why nobody has tried to sign him before? Nobody knows if hes good enough....he hasnt played yet!!! I happen to agree with you but at times some of the knee jerk statements on here baffle me. Hes been badly advised like gary roberts before him.....but we arent exactly flush with strikers right now and i wouldnt want to see him go unless we get a replacement in....and definitely not to burnley where he could damage us with a few goals! X number of millions is no good to us so late in the window if mounie gets an injury at west ham for example......if he goes then please lets make sure we have a replacement lined up.
