Whatever happens with Wells - we can not continue not taking the chances we have created against Newcastle and Southampton and not scoring - we very nearly lost to Southampton at the death but should have won on balance. I think Wells or someone similar would be good to come off the bench to snatch one. Who can we realistically buy with 3 days to go ? Hope he stays to be honest and review in January

I'd like to see Wells on the bench but the simple fact is he's running down his contract and basically trying to do the club out of millions. He's been told he'll be sold or rot in the reserves and that's exactly what should happen. It's a great statement the club are making. Wells is history, end of.
Laughable after supposedly being hungry for a chance in the Premier League and when he gets it he's deciding not to take it. He won't get another opportunity imo, he's not good enough, this was his one time offer and he's blown it for himself. He's not thick so I can only assume the money he thinks he'll make out of a free transfer is more important. Bye bye.

It's amazing the tricks the mind can play when you haven't seen someone in action for a while. It seems like Wells has suddenly turned in to Jermain Defoe over the summer It took Wells 10 games (end of September) to get 2 goals in the Championship last season. Mounie has 2 in 3 Premier League games

Wells seems to have got upset that we've brought in two extra strikers and obviously feels he's been pushed down the pecking order. At the moment he's recovering from surgery during which time I hope he grows a pair, mans up and meets the challenge head on. Simply taking his bat home tends suggest he's not up for the challenge, but this is a fantastic opportunity for him and surely he will realise that Wagner wants him to step up. I always felt Wagner had a soft spot for Wells and I'd expect that he's talking to him regularly trying to make him see sense. I think he'd do ok in the premier league even if he doesn't start many games but as a sub. Non of the strikers are guaranteed selection because we have competition for places, so Wells has the same opportunity as anyone else, if only he'd give his head a shake and grasp the moment.

Just wondering if the surgery you refer to could actually be a bigger pair of testicles? Like, unfeasibley large. Buster gonad esque. It would be funny to see him come on in the 89th minute of a caraboo cup game with 'em in a wheelbarrow.

When will people face facts, he is not good enough for the Premier League. Have you ever wondered why nobody has tried to sign him before? Nobody knows if hes good enough....he hasnt played yet!!! I happen to agree with you but at times some of the knee jerk statements on here baffle me. Hes been badly advised like gary roberts before him.....but we arent exactly flush with strikers right now and i wouldnt want to see him go unless we get a replacement in....and definitely not to burnley where he could damage us with a few goals! X number of millions is no good to us so late in the window if mounie gets an injury at west ham for example......if he goes then please lets make sure we have a replacement lined up. It's not a knee jerk reaction, I've watched him other the last few years. I'm not going to use the chances to goals argument. My main problem is he is a center forward who doesn't get in the box. He's either 10 yards behind the play or out wide, usually on the wrong wing. Then look at his goal scoring record in the championship. It's not great, 14,18 and 10 in his three full seasons. Not good enough to earn a transfer to the premier league, if we were still in the championship. As for badly advised, maybe he's realised he isn't going to get much game time in the Premier League. So he's decided to move on to get more in the championship.

Don't get this 'hard working' tag hes got. One of the main reasons his goalscoring record was so dismal last season was his lack of effort to actually get in the box and put himself in goalscoring positions. I don;'t see how floating about outside the area whilst our wide men are about to put over a cross, counts as hard working. His movement generally last season was poor IMO Agreed and in my opinion not a small factor as to why Van La Parra was accused of no end product as much as he was. I'm not saying it isn't a frustrating part of his game but half the time last season he either puts an early cross in to a non existent striker and gets dog's abuse, or checks back, delays and finally puts a cross into a stagnant striker who has by now jogged into the box, offering little movement and is comfortably marshalled and again gets dog's abuse, or tries a shot himself because he's already seen the futility of the aforementioned, and gets dog's abuse. Yep, this was last year's unsolved problem. We don't seem to get as many players into the box as other teams, which makes it much harder to pick a man out. So why not tell Wells to get across the first defender at the near post, and RVLP to put the ball there early? And once opposition scouts suss that out, tell Wells to pull back to the penalty spot, etc.? I think they were both given too much freedom, when a bit more structure might have helped with their assist / goal stats.

Southampton ended up with 3 players marking him. Tends to delay crossing the ball, why this should be ie, crossing to near post for Mounie, or far post for Kachunga. Nahki playing upfront on his Jack, is difficult, as he's small, therefore will always find beating tall CB's very tough. Would be surprised if any club pays 8 to 10 million for Nahki - UTT.

Buying Nahki when we did was a real statement of intent at the time. I'm assuming that for the club it was a massive amount of money to pay. His goals kept us up and then got us promoted.

Always seemed to me to be measured on a different yardstick to everyone else. If he'd missed the Kachunga chance on Saturday there would still be comments flying around saying he's useless, get rid etc.

If he got half the leeway that Kachunga and Quaner do (yes Collin you had a magical 5 minutes against Wednesday last season but generally you seem to have difficulty controlling a football) one might notice how many times last season he was often the ONLY Town player in the box when we attacked. Additionally I know no more than the average supporter on here about what really goes on at the club but we've a hell of a lot of posters who seem to know, as a fact, things about his attitude, what he's said, that he's "taken his ball home", that he's in a mood etc etc based on absolutely no evidence whatsoever. Give the guy a break - look at Quaners,Kachungas, DePoitres etc career stats for goal scoring then tell me we wouldn't miss Wells if he goes.

Kane missed an opportunity greater than any of ours and arguably a second chance that was better than most, if not all. He's recognised by many as one of the best in the world. Salah did too, before he more than made up for it. This is one weekend and I've not even seen every game! It's like people watch us and no other football at all.

Really good points, many forget, that players play under instruction from the Manager/Coach. Nahki's goal scoring record last season wasn't great, but his contribution to the team's success was massive. I agree, many are very critical of Nahki's efforts, he's been good value for Town, since signing from Bratford! Just don't see any club paying big money for him. Would be tempted by 5 million, the unfortunate timing of his injury, will not encourage Club's to sign him - UTT.

Thing is wells could do well at a Burnley type team who play 442 who play with a stereo typical big man. I know he might not be first choice here and he seems to have been badly advised but I'd like him to stay maybe become bit of a super sub when teams are tiring getting in behind etc. He just offers something different to the others

I hope he stays, fights for his place and earns it. Then signs a long term contract.
I suspect thought I won't get my wishes!.

Good post, wells is a genuinely good footballer too,i hope he stays but if he goes its understandable on his part,he was slated for his penalty misses at one time but the ones he took in our playoff games were coolness personified, especially the one against Reading, missed that and it would probably have been curtains!

Wagner shows no favouritism towards any player ,so now its down to Well's to show Wagner that he has the ability to do the job required at a higher level. What seems to be preventing this happening is this contract differences between player and club ,but surely the premier league stage would be a perfect platform for Well's to try and prove himself.

I am happy for us to be a stepping stone!.
