There are 2 types of ex-pro's who go on to become pundits who's opinions hold some gravitas. Those who have enjoyed a distinguished playing career - preferably winning honours regularly along the way - or those who perhaps didn't have an extraordinary playing career but have stayed in the game to manage which they have done consistently over many seasons. Garth Crooks was/is in neither of these categories. Added to this, he must have been retired close on 30 years. He was a decent player at Spurs and then ManU but nothing more and I certainly don't remember him ever being a manager. Tbf, I thought the BBC had stopped using him as a pundit years ago! Is my memory going nuts, or was he a presenter on Top of The Pops for a while?!

I think the BBC only retain Garth Crooks and Mark Lawrenson to stoke things up a bit.
Both of them are pretty fecking useless.
The problem with pundits is that they should be refreshed every ten yrs and phase out the old guard. All channels are guilty of the same, but we still have to listen to the same ex-players that we've been listening to for the last 25 yrs. There are the occasional new ones that appear, but they're still dominated by players who were on the pitch in the 1980's...
You might as well just spend a few hours on here to get the same insights as those idiots...

Whats to disagree? Man City dominating their rivals away, all deserved, Williams helping keeping Liverpool to one goal, strikeforce speaks for itself really, all three played exceptionally well. Mounie got two and did well, not on the well level these were with movement and link up play etc. Think its right considering opponents we had also. More a Championship fixture, its about as non bias view as youll get

Why does it give the option to choose Merino in midfield but not Hogg? Do they just pick names out of a hat?

Are people really that bothered by who he picks? It's same with Lawerence and Merson predict us to lose everyweek. Stuck in their ways.

His teams are a waste of time reading. He has his favourites and it doesn't really matter how they perform - if their team get a decent result they're included. First it was Dunk, now it's seemingly Williams.

Not sure why anyone is arsed. Who cares who is in the Team of the Week? We won, end of. Don't care if we never have a player in it for the rest of the season to be honest.

Williams?
Everton only conceding one was nothing to do with him, it was purely down to Liverpool wasting 4 or 5 simple chances

Everton only conceding one was nothing to do with him, it was purely down to Liverpool wasting 4 or 5 simple chances 23 shots and only 3 on target Both the Mane and Gomez chances were off target but far easier chances than shots that might hit the target from 30 yards away There's your problem with statistics. Clear goal scoring opportunities is always a better stat to look at

Why the hell is there a Garth Crooks thread?!?! How can people possibly care what this man thinks I see these threads as the opportunity to get yourself ahead of the queue for when the Armageddon hits. If we have a week where Lawrenson predicts us to take 3pts and it's followed by Crooks having at least 2 Town players in his team of the week, then I'll be down Morrisons and stocking up on the beans & tinned spaghetti...

Brighton clean sheet can mean only 1 thing - Dunk is in his team of the week again. He is obsessed with him.
