Not sure what Hughes has done to merit being called a decent manager . Seems to me to be one of those blokes who landed good jobs early doors largely on the back of a great playing career and then the perceived wisdom becomes that he is a “premier league manager “ it would be interesting to see him keep the job at saints and when they go down try to get them back up He's done a decent job at Stoke. OK, it hasn't ended well this season - but apart from the elite few, it eventually goes badly for every manager. Top half finish a few years in a row - their highest finish in 40 odd years. Blackburn and Fulham were both quite a long time ago, but got them both into Europe. Nowt to be scoffed at. Chadders has “liked” your post but not a lot of stokeys I’ve heard seem to have any time for Hughes . Not sure how he has done a decent job .. when he was sacked they were firmly in the shit .. with loads of 20m players who couldn’t get in the team . But chadders might put me straight on this .. I concede he did a pretty good job at wales and blackburn but that was eons ago

Three top half finishes. A Stokealona period where we played some of the best footie I’ve ever seen. You have to give him some credit. Unfortunately in the end he lost the plot and seems to have let discipline go to pot
Should have left at the end of last season while he still had credit in the bank. Now he will always be seen as the man responsible for ending ten years in the top flight
On another point I see Wagner is being linked with Leicester He might be tempted

The last Town manager to take his eye off the ball when linked with the Leicester job saw his career rapidly go downhill afterwards. I’m sure Wagner won’t make the same mistake.

Stoke's Premier League identity was always the Pulis-ball, direct, hard to beat style.
How long can you carry that on, while still engaging the fans? Until this season I don't think they ever looked like going down.

For the first time since I came on this board I now fear for your safety It could well be you’re relying on us to get something against Swansea and given the mood in the Stoke camp at the moment I can’t see it. You need to get something from Chelsea or Arsenal and that’s going to be very difficult

One point will do nicely.

I hope the stoke players can run on naked and bare their arses to sky tv.. then play to score as many own goals as they can score before the police come and lock em up for 'arseing about'.. means we got a point at least tomorrow.. personally think pride might outdo nerves.. swansea have the worst 2 full backs and least talented holding midfield players in the league.. Tammy might be their only 'saving' grace.. have a feeling for 3 draws on sunday.. tomorrow could be anything..

As if Stoke will care now. It's entirely up to us.
Interesting revelation about how the fixtures are worked out though, so that none of the expected top six play each other in the final matches

I mean, you say that, and after watching that tonight you'd think so, but over 37 games Stoke are the ones who are already relegated and Swansea still have a chance. Just hope its a full strength Stoke alleviated of all pressure with a point to prove.

Stoke drew with Liverpool at Anfield 0-0. Surely they can get something from Swansea

Can lightning strike twice? Can we keep a clean sheet at the Etihad then at Stamford in a matter of days? I ruddy hope so!!
Regardless of what happens with our game on Chelsea, I really hope Stoke do beat Swansea. Even if we are safe, I'd love for Stoke to end on a high. 10 years in the PL, and going out on a limp is not right. Come on Crouchy, give us one more robot dance!

Hi guys Stoke fan here in peace.
Congratulations on staying up - you've really deserved it and your last couple of results have been superb ! Wagner has done a great job for the club and the fans. The comments on the Oatcake tonight are praising your efforts this season, just wish Stoke could have done as well but the writing was on the wall for us at the end of last season.
Anyway well done, do it again next season, and hopefully Stoke City will be back up in the Prem in the not too distant future !

We (Stoke) have got a huge rebuild this summer, hopefully starting with getting a new manager after hopefully getting rid of Paul "1 win in 15" Lambert, although the confused messages from the Board appear to say he's staying. If he does stay we've got no chance of even making the play offs. We'll also have a hell of a job shifting all the deadwood that b`^×®rd Hughes brought in. Ironic that the Welsh sh*t has survived with Southampton.
Hope Wagner keeps grounded and continues to bring in the right players to move you forwards - don't follow the Hughes route. If he stays at Southampton he'll do the same to them.
Good luck from the Potters !

Bye Paul. You sorted out some crap but a 13% win rate wasn’t good enough
Now, what’s Mr Wagner up to 😊😊😊😊
