Fair play to him. He has found his level. Middling championship team. He would have served us well next year.

Yep, we've lost a useful player and a barrow load of cash on this one I'm afraid.

Miss having Joe. Finally sorted his long-term injuries and then we sold him. What's done is done but we made a mistake there

Not good enough for Town according to the majority on DATM when he left!

Pleased for the lad, but his time at Town rarely suggested he'd go on to be a regular starter.
You win some, you lose some, we move on...

Not good enough for Town according to the majority on DATM when he left! He wasn't good enough for the Premier league, which is where we were. He still isn't.

Hes become one of the best players in the Championship. Tom Ince was too so that in itself is no guarantee hed be able to prosper in the prem. But he also could, and it wouldn;t be a surprise if he was snapped up this summer for around the £12m mark. Fair play to the lad.
Whether he was good enough for the prem when he was here or not is a mute point , as like Ince we sold him but didn;t replace him with anyone better.. or even as good.

If we knew we were going to be in the Championship in 2019/20, most of us on here would have been saying we should have kept Hef rather than Lolley. And some were actually saying we should keep Hef for the EPL, as some sort of cheerleader.

However,I suspect he would not have shone if he'd stayed at Town in the EPL and without Ince's Championship pedigree, he would have been worth nowhere near the £12m you quote. And we would still be meh about him.

Amazing how quick some people can forget the 4 and a half years in which time he could have potentially played 200+ games and the amount of times he did something you could count on one hand.
We've had a crap season but neither Joe Lolley or Tom Ince for that matter would have made a jot of difference to that.

Given the club we’re apparently always planning for relegation to The Championship, selling the players we had who were good at that level doesn’t sound like very good planning to me.

I just don't get all of this. We let Lolley go because a) he was perennially injured b) he wasn't good enough at our level
Now, I know that we have subsequently been relegated, but we doidn't know that it would happen so quickly giuven how well we fought last season. Nobody could predict that he would improve in the interim - albeit at a much lower level - but I still can't believe that keeping him would have been a good move. Why? Just in case we get relegated is no basis for hanging onto players like Lolley and Hefele. They both did their bit when we needed them and simply weren't good enough where we were at.
I simnply can't agree with all the folks saying that we should get him back or that we shouldn't have sold him. Players DO actually improve at other clubs - a different manager, training regime, style and all sorts of factors play a part. Scott Arfield is another example. Hell, we'll even be playing against Matty Crooks Murray Wallace next season if he stays at Miwaw - not heard anybody crying out for him to come back (yet).

Yes, of course, my mistake. Mixing him up with Murray Wallace, "a future captain of HTFC".

Fuck me, Dwayne Holmes might be in the premier league next year. Shit happens, good luck to him and Lolley. Few thought Arfield to be the player he turned out to be. More concerned with the fact the Vulcan is up for sale

What about the ones that come as no ones? Jordan Rhodes, Pilkington, Vaesen? Loads but cant be bothered naming them all. It just seems that way as a fan, same for most clubs.
