I was one who could understand if not always appreciate Powell’s pragmatism. He got far too carried away with levels of opponents etc.. I have to admit it was good to have a defence who could keep other teams out after having been so utterly leaky under Clark for so long -losing or often drawing games with late goals conceded. What on earth was to be gained by consistently putting lolley on for 5 minutes was beyond any reason though. 5 minutes was a luxury. Just looked looked at 1 run of games: 2 0 0 1 9 0 1 0 22 0 2 9 12 games, 46 minutes in total. All of the 0s he was on the bench unused. Wow that’s worse even than I remember. I thought at the time it was to teach some kind of lesson to the lad- I.e. if you don’t start working harder in training I’ll keep giving you one minute humiliation.

It would not be the first second or even a third time that a town player had failed to make an impact then made it big time with another club even at a higher level
This also happens to people employed in so called normal jobs especially after being fired or under rated
Its called trying to prove yourself

There's no doubt it was the right decision to let Joe go, he wasn't doing it at Town & probably never would have done. Lots of players come good when they move on from a club, it may be to do with all sorts of reasons, but it doesn't mean the selling club were wrong to move them on.

Will the phrase 'doing an Arfield' become 'doing a lolley'?

It should be remembered that Joe Lolley had years and years at Town to prove himself - and didn't. The occasional goal or flash of brilliance has to be balanced with those games where he did next to nothing and those months and months when he was "unfit", "still living the student life", "running wrongly/splints", going off to numerous specialists etc etc and apparently costing us a lot of money. For whatever reason he NEVER delivered for Town on any regular basis and spent absolutely ages getting back to match fitness, nearly being available for selection, breaking down again etc etc.
He's now delivered for Forest this season so good luck to him but I don't think that even his greatest admirer would claim that he delivered for us - for whatever reason. Only my opinion, but I think we were right to let him go, and on the same subject I notice that the Hef, who I really liked for lots of reasons, is struggling to get a place in their first team.

Just to add to this post, Lolley played under a lot of different managers during his time with us and I don’t remember any of them saying he was or would go on to be some sort of superstar player, far from it. He’s having a great spell presently and good luck to him but the decision to allow him to leave was absolutely the right one.

Has he really turned into a top quality player in the space of 12 months? Or is it just the confidence that comes with playing at a lower level. Like how Tom Ince looks a superstar in the Championship and useless in the Premier League
Be interesting to see if any premier league sides take a punt on him

I hope we all vote, even if it’s just to stop that sewer dwelling pikey from Leeds winning it.

"Pikey" or "pikie" is a slang term, which is pejorative and considered by many to be a slur. It is used mainly in the UK and Ireland to refer to people who are of the Traveller Community. In a pejorative sense it means "a lower-class person", perhaps 'coarse' or 'disreputable'. It is not well received among Irish Travellers or Romani, as it is considered an ethnic slur

Were you calling for him to start every week when we were struggling for goals last season? Thought not.

Good. He's a 'funny shape' like Ramadan Sohbi right? Has he? He played like he'd supped 10 pints a Friday night.
