Throughout the fifties, early sixties, we always went to Bridlington. The old RAF huts to the south of the Town, about a mile down the coast. They must have been sold off and converted into holiday homes, ours was San Remo, owned I believe by a woman in Bradford. They're still there. Mid sixties, we got a caravan, and went to Mablethorpe for a good few years. Can't remember the name of the site, but the one where the water tower was, now blown up and gone I believe. My sister and I were just left to do our own thing, told you can't get lost, just remember to look for the water tower! Happy days, though it really is a "one horse" Town. My two younger brothers got rather luckier being 12 and 19 years younger than me and my sister. By the early 70s, they'd started going abroad, right after we'd left home. I don't think I'd have swapped childhoods to be honest. A good friend of my dad used to own one of those wooden chalets in that approximate position on the edge of the caravan park ( is it Belvedere ? ). Family owned a mill at Bailiff Bridge and dad went to school with the brothers, and funnily enough my dad's boss owned one of the other ones when he worked at Heaton's valves in Brighouse. Had quite a few day trips to see them, and stayed over a few times as well, this was all back in the 60's. Happy days, and when in Brid in March I had a walk down the coast, and they are still there and looking well.

I'm missing the summer festival for the first time in years.

Dorset in the caravan, in between Weymouth and Lyme Regis, weather looks set, can't wait Came back from Eype near Bridport last Saturday. Lovely part of the world. Lyme Regis is very nice as was Weymouth. Went to Charmouth when BBC4 were filming Beach Live. Dan Snow looking pensive at rehearsals but the programme had been savaged on twitter. Bovington Tank Museum was good and worth a visit if that's your kind of thing We're staying on a site at Eype, Highlands end

Off to the motherland - a fortnight north of the border to show my kids their heritage before we start taking them abroad next year. We're staying in Saltcoats but will take in Arran (home of the sweater), Glasgow and Edinburgh (although it's festival time so will be rammed), Loch Lomond (my birthplace). I used to work in Ayrshire every summer in the mid-80's. Saltcoats included. Two years running we went over to work on Arran for 3 days...slept at a pub party every single night! Amazing place.

in the 11 years since we've had kids we've made a conscious choice to stay in the UK each year, rather than pay for foreign holidays we would be stretched to afford. the kids have loved it. We've taken them to all the places we used to go as kids - Northumberland, various parts of Scotland and Wales, Devon. Taken them to castles and museums and national parks. Wanted them to realise how lovely Britain is before we let them discover further afield.
I do fancy two weeks in Menorca next year though!

Stewpot, the place at bridlington is listed as "South Shore Holiday Village" online, but it did come up when I put Belvedere holiday cottages Bridlington into google. No doubt we are talking about the same place. Numerous wooden chalets, with a bar / dance hall on the sea front.

Taking the kids to Orlando for our holibobs but will unfortunately miss the Chelsea match. Do any of our fans living in Orlando know of any bars that will be likely to show the game, because, being chief holiday planner, we happen to have a rest day from the parks on the 11th ? Try Dewey’s Indoor Golf & Sports Grill 7720 Turkey Lake Rd, Orlando, FL 32819, USA Phone: +1 407-203-2222 Excellent place to watch Town win the play off final

I'm off to France. Normandy and Brittany. Looking forward to it, although I do miss the Chelsea match. Los Angeles a few weeks back, Venice in August, and where I am now, in a barn in the middle of nowhere somewhere between Worcester and Kidderminster. Miss Town v Cardiff....not really bothered!

We'll be missing the Cardiff game because we're heading to the lakes that weekend then heading to Mexico in early January & bizarrely the only game we'll miss is Cardiff away 😀

I am planning a few days away while my wife is in Europe with my son. Not sure where yet but probably somewhere close to Orlando so we can go to Universal.

Maybe an open air do at Peasholm Park. This year will be the first time I've missed a Scarborough week for 10 or so years. Will miss the fish and chips, and the Lanturna Restaurant as well as the cricket. Treat yourself if you haven't been but book well in advance. A shame you can't get a full week of festival cricket now.

No doubt we are talking about the same place. Numerous wooden chalets, with a bar / dance hall on the sea front. I walked past the holiday village, but these wooden chalets are further on. In fact they stand on their own with a huge field at the back which was our cricket pitch in the old days. I think there are only 3 or 4 of them, painted different colours, but they weren't part of the holiday village. As you pass the final one there's a road cutting leading down to the beach, which the sailing club at the top used to launch the boats.
