Bring back Smithies and Wells
Nahki to partner Grant up front and our Wembley hero back in goal. Should pick up both for no more than £10 million and then we can build from there. Makes sense to me, please discuss.
EDIT - merging

I don't know what Smithies is like nowadays, but if we have any ambitions of going back up then Wells is not someone we should be looking at.

Smithies would be a decent goalie in the Championship .A favourite at Loftus Rd. No Nahki for me.Think we need someone along the lines of Glenn Murray to partner Grant.🐶

Smithies and Wells were lower Champs at best. I would not take them back on freebies.

If your saying Wells we might as well get Rhodes back too. In the Championship, if we had a choice of either, then it would be Rhodes every time.

Both were slagged off and rubbished by a portion Town fans when they played for us, what makes you so sure they'll want to return?

Getting old players back is on the same lines as when a team is having a bad run, the players out of the side are always bigged up by some fans saying they should be in the team cos they're ace...they are out of the team for certain reasons, usually.
When we were getting promoted no one ever said bring back Butterfield or Clayton, it was always, quite rightly, "we've moved on from them".
Unfortunately, this bring back old players thing usually only comes around during a bad run...& they don't come much worse than what we are having now. I've not seen enough of either of them to know how they are currently playing (well Smithies isn't playing) but Wells's record is nowt that an aspiring promotion candidate would be attracted by (just looked it up, 8 in 37 appearances this season). I think we would have got promoted a lot easier if we had had a very good striker instead of Wells, so why go back now? That is not a slur on Wells by the way, I think he was what we needed at the time we bought him & he did not let us down when our only aim was to not get relegated from the Championship, however, we have different expectations & needs now.

Why should we discuss your fantasy? Next you’ll be asking us to discuss a suggestion that we sign Messi and Renaldo. If you think that’s absurd, at what point does a suggestion become absurd? It’s one thing to discuss this in the pub, but a bit of an ego trip to ask for folk to discuss your fantasy

I'd take Smithies all day long, proven quality, low risk signing and hopefully fairly cheap in comparison to Lossl.
We could have done with Wells this season but we now have what looks like a better version of him, plus he left for financial reasons and spent a lot of his time with us saying he wanted to do better which was the ultimate irony bearing in mind the way things panned out. If Mounie leaves I would imagine the club will be looking for someone with some aerial ability and hopefully movement and aggression to go with it.

I suppose at most matches we sing about how we want to bring Boothy back that he should play in every position. It's not a serious suggestion though, but it's still better than this one.

Neither thanks. Bringing players back rarely works.....move on to fresher new targets and create new heroes Is there anything tangible to suggest bringing back smithies, who is now surely a better keeper than when he left, wouldnt work out? It's one thing bringing back a fan favourite at the end of his career, who just wants a comfortable pay day, but how often have we brought back players in their prime? Not arsed for any of the other names, but id take smithies. He'd be a safe option as apposed to bringing in someone who could be poor and only having an also poor backup in hamer.

Cranie. I cannot recall him once letting us down. The ultimate pro and has done great for the Blades, just having to bide his time to get a look in then when drafted in their defence has become as mean as ***k ! I'd take him back as a squad player. Like you say, never let us down, but was a bit out of his depth in the few PL opportunities he got.

What is with peoples weird obsessions with bringing ex players back. A perceived lower risk as we know already what they can and can’t do.

Rated him when he was here, went to QPR who's fans then universally raved about him, fans who'd seen much better keepers in recent history than us I might add given their last 20 years compared to ours pre 2017. Won players players and fans player of the season whilst at QPR. Earned a move to a Premier League side that doesn't look to have worked out. Forget the fact he's a Town lad, it just looks like a decent opportunity to pick up a proven Championship keeper for a probable smallish fee.

Calls to bring back Lynch, Butterfield, Clayton as well as Rhodes. And each one we dispensed with before we were successful at that level. I know we Yorkshire folk love a bit of nostalgia but some Town fans seriously baffle me! Also didn't Smithies move to Cardiff for about £4.7m which is far more than we paid for Lossl, so I wouldn't expect Warnock and Cardiff to let him go 'cheap' to Town at all, especially when he is only 1 year into his 3 year deal.

Danny Ward (striker) from Cardiff.... Only played 29 games over the last two seasons, bit of a “sick note” I think. Still, could keep Danny Williams company in the rehab room!
