Couple of games annonunced: www.htafc.com/news/2019/june/town-to-face-greuther-furth-in-austria/Only been through Fürth once, twas on my way to Bamberg for their annual beer festival. Odd fact about the town of Fürth is that their town hall chimes out the tune of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" every day at mid-day. Just checked who else from Germany is going to Austria, nr. to where we are and at the same time, and so far it's: Werder Bremen, FC St Pauli, Darmstadt 98. Wouldn't mind if it were St Pauli (often seen as a cult club in Germany owing to their almost exclusively left-wing following). Really hope the incomings and outgoings have been sorted by then, just to get an idea of who will be competing for a place in Town's 2019/20 side. Any fans going have about three hours to get from one venue to the other. Will that be possible by public transport? PS Just had a look at the map - probably can be done - looks like they're less than 20km apart bus services usually excellent in AUSTRIA

PS there is a bar at Town's training ground in Brixen which should be open, I would think it will be the same at Wörgl too

Here's a timetable as it stands atm. S-bahn S6 // From Wörgl Hbf 14:20 ==> Holzfilzen (but get off Brixen im Thale, approx. 14:45) ----------------------------15:22 ==> Holzfilzen (but get off Brixen im Thale, approx. 15:47) ----------------------------16:20 ==> Holzfilzen (but get off Brixen im Thale, approx. 16:45) REX (1521)// From Wörgl Hbf 14:50 ==> Schwarzach-St.Veit (but get off Brixen im Thale, approx. 15:12) REX (1523)// From Wörgl Hbf 15:52 ==> Schwarzach-St.Veit (but get off Brixen im Thale, approx. 16:13) That's five separate trains that each give you a chance of making the game in Brixen im Thale for 17:00 after the one in Wörgl.

Should be a good test though, my co-favourites for the German 2nd division title will be getting close to firing on all cylinders as their season will kick off two weeks later. They were also rumoured to have been interested in Sabiri last year, too, so may want to take a look at him in the bargain.

I'll be on the plane back to dear old England just as this ones about to kick off. Believe there's quite a few going Friday to Friday as well. Same here, we'll be on the plane home then, however if anyone is desperate for some non Town football on Friday 12th then Red Bull Salzburg are playing Feyenoord at the Leogang stadium 5.30pm ko which is roughly 40 mins on a train from Kirchberg. Leogang is east of Kitzbuhel, if anyone has one of the 'Tourist cards' that some holiday lets/hotels provide then these give free bus and train travel between Worgl and Hochfilzen which means you only have to pay 4.70 euro return train from Hochfilzen to Leogang (Steinberg), if not its about 14 euro return from Kirchberg. Loads of trains there and the trains back are at 8pm and 9pm (last one), its a 10 min walk from LeogangSteinberg station to the ground, you actually pass it on your RH side as you approach the station. The ground itself looks very similar to the one in Jenbach where town played Torino a few years back, I'm fairly confident it will have a bar Me and 'Sticks' will be going if anyone fancies joining us

Anyone any idea on what prices are like getting trains from Salzburg to Kirchberg.
I've been looking at buying advanved train tickets for the airport transfers but not sure if you can just rock up and pay on the day for not alot more.
Been reading that you can get discounted train passes too for tourists but whenever I look into it further I get stuck. Me German is nicht zehr gut.

Use www.bahn.com and you can book online, if you are willing to book a specific train it's quite cheap. I'm not sure that there is a specific tourist train pass as such, if there is then it's probably not worth it unless you are using the trains a lot, best bet is to see if your hotel does the tourist card, I think it's called alpen card and that gives you free trains and buses between Worgl and hochfilzen

I've just had a quick look myself and weirdly, depending on some services a flexible ticket is cheaper than a specific train one!! the standard flexible return ticket price on most trains is 68 euro but the tickets are sold as 2 singles, the cheapest fixed train ticket I have seen is 9 euro 1 way but I suppose it depends on what your flight times are as to what trains you can book, also if you are booking for someone else please ensure that there name is showing on the ticket before you click the buy button as you have to have an ID that matches the name on the ticket or at least you do if its a specific time one, I guess it may not be the case if its a flexible ticket. If you aren't comfortable booking online then you could try using a Bahn.com agent in the UK such as www.myrailtrip.co.uk 01766 515630, trainseurope 0871 700 7722 or International Rail 0871 231 0790 (IR Only seem to offer full price tickets) All of these will charge a booking fee or bump the price up but it takes the risk away from you making a mistake online.

If you can't be bothered booking online and just turn up in Salzburg and want to go directly to Kirchberg, then there's a direct (REX - regional express) train every two hours on 08 (09:08, 11:08, 13:08, 15:08 etc) from Salzburg (takes 2 hours 45 mins), they don't give a standard price on the Deutsche Bahn site, but 50 euros would probably be enough for a single to Kirchberg. Last year, I paid about 25 euros to Zell am See, which is about halfway on the same route.
It's a stunning, mountainside route, and the train goes slow enough for you to take in the scenery - so the 2 hours 45 mins will go very quickly. Zell am See (which is a lovely lake set in the mountains) was also well worth a visit if you want to break the journey up a bit.

There are also advance tickets from €14 if you want a quicker journey, changing at Wörgl for the S-Bahn (S6) to Kirchberg. You won't find ticket prices for train journeys made solely within Austria as bahn.de is German. For Austrian rail travel you want www.oebb.at

There's no need to go through an agent because like you said they will charge extra. www.oebb.at/en would be the best place to book tickets if you're starting and finishing your journey in Austria. It's no different to using TPE or LNER websites. If anyone isn't confident enough using a foreign website, find someone who is. It really isn't difficult at all though.

Just in case anyone has missed it, Town have tweeted that the first match against Greuer Furth in Worgl has now had the kick off brought forward by an hour to 11am local time, this is to give Town fans plenty of time to get back to Brixen im Thale for the 2nd game. The last train from Worgl to Brixen to comfortably get you back in time is 15:52, if you fancy a quick walk /jog or you always like to miss the kick off then the 16:20 is for you!!

So the players left behind are basically the ones that we want rid of, Zanka, Billing, Sabiri and Hamer.
