Did anyone go to the open training session? I've really liked (and been grateful) to the fans that have travelled over giving us a bit of a view on things.

I'm really chuffed that the team seem to be bonding well, getting on and having some fun around the hard work. I don't think it is being put on for show, there is looking a really good collective spirit.
One other thing I had missed was Ben Jackson being out training with the main squad. He had looked decent in the U19's and some EDT games I saw in the last season. He's a leftback/left sided player so I wonder if Siewert is taking a look at Jackson and J.Brown for the potential LB position. If neither are looking the part then it could be a loan player in?
Its really interesting just how many U19's/EDT players have been taken along. I mentioned Edmmonds-Green in another thread (high level potential) there is also Ryan Schofield (top level potential), Luke Mewitt, Jaden Brown, Matty Daly (top level potential) and Lewis O’Brien.
That is 7 players developing through the new academy setup. It will be interesting to see how far or how quickly the progress. Demeaco Duhaney and Aaron Rowe are out with the U19's for preseason, game and a cup competition, both have tasted Premier league first team football.
Exciting times.

But that's the purpose of the new academy setup, we should be only having lads with good potential, not young lads who never kick on. The way I look at it is that these lads are being bought and announced as academy lads but they are over 18 in a lot of cases. They aren't academy lads, they are first team potential who need a bit more development. We aren't talking 14 year olds who are a couple of years off. I think that we will see the academy used a bit more fluently with the first team. Players such as brown and duhaney could probably walk into league one first teams now.

Can never bring himself to say a good word about Town, but he said that O'Brien was an excellent prospect. Payne, on the other hand, downed tools after Xmas when he didn't get a move to one of several clubs who were looking to take him on a perm move, and Scannell played one game then was hardly ever seen again due to injuries and well...just being Sean I guess!

Why did they choose Austria?
It's cold, grey, wet and hilly. Might as well have stayed in 'uddersfield.

Austria is mountainous, except Burgenland, which is flat. Cold, wet and grey, definitely not. Ever heard of altitude training?

Which equates to 2 weeks attitude training to increase stamina. In the last two years (I think they are at the same place again this year) you can see ski lifts in the background. At this time of year there is no snow on the ground.

Think they've been unlucky with the weather. It's been boiling the last 2 summers when they were there. Remember them all diving in to that lake last year

800m isn't high up in the Alps. It's a lot higher than Canalside and almost twice as high as anywhere near here!

The start of the video is unfair, all the players stepping over the hurdles but Pritch was doing the Fosbury Flop 🤣

Not really about pre season but I had a trip to Austria for the first time last year. Flew into Linz and then got a train down to the lake at Gmunden. Amazing scenery, great for walking around and a spot of boating. The locals we met were friendly too. UTT

Does Hogg have a town tattoo on his calf? Can’t quite make it out, but has a look of it unless I’m losing my marbles.

Those training tops look like the Hypercolour t shirts from the 80s, that would change colour when you sweat/get hot.
Never really understood the trend then...
