82 MINS. Town score - Grant, from Hogg pass. Scrappy, but he was in the right place. Excellent.

O'Brian could quite easily start the first game. Schindler and Elphick look classy.

Diakhaby took some piss down that right hand side. Won possession a couple of times and was fouled a few times.
O'Brien looks decent too.

Game changed when our "senior" team came on.
Schindler and Elphick totally comfortable at back.
To be fair, for most of the match we created nothing (Grant isolated in the middle) BUT we could actually have scored 3 -Pritchard and Kongolo missed good chances.
Defensively never troubled after 60 minutes.
O'Brien man of the match for me - worked hard, tackled, forceful runs.
A good work out, and Grant scored again.
Impressed with our defence and with O'Brien particularly. Only a friendly, but the way we played reminded me a bit of last season - worked hard but created nothing at all till last 10 minutes. That team doesn't look to have many goals in it - I know it was only a friendly, so a good work out and understandably got better when our seniors came on.

Very early days but a decent couple of results against a second tier German side that is or should be a week further into their preseason due to their earlier start to the season.
Shaking that losing feeling from last year can only help.

Mooy cost more than him and looked worse in both games. Why are Diakhaby and Mbenza judged differently by many on here?

Looked promising v Arsenal, defo a player in there.

A clear step up in quality when the more established team come on at 54mins. I would just like to make a few comments about some of the players of both Huddersfield teams.
1st team:
Ramarni-Edmonds looks ready. Composed on the ball, good reading and positioning and solid with Stankovic at the back. He's ready as a back-up Centre-half whenever needed.
Stankovic carried on like he finished last season. A composed ball playing centreback (in this game) or DCM if we want him there.
Bacuna was the best player on the pitch, feisty and good on the ball.
Matty Daly showed his quality but was a bit in&out of the game.
Jaden Brown at leftback looked good at times but got caught out a few times too.
Bockhorn, Koroma and R.Brown collectively show good bits but its clear they have only been with the team a week or so.
Overall all though lots of positives that these are players who will be able to step in and do a job or push established first XI players for their positions over time (minus Baca, Stankovic, Daly who are already there or pushing the 1st team).
2nd team:
Schofield: He played the whole game and I think people can see why I rate the lad so highly. tall, flexible, commanding presence under pressure. One area to work on is his long diagonal goal kicks to the wide players.
Elhpick&Schindler: simply looked like a pair of classy CB's who had been playing together for years.
Kongolo. If he stays we have our leftback position sorted. Simple as that. At championship level he's going to be good getting forward and we all know he is as good as Schindler if needed to cover CB in a game.
Diakhaby: showed some lovely touches, some strength and worked hard on chasing back/positioning. Definite improvements.
O'Brien: As an 8 this lad is going to be seriously pushing for a starting place. When I watched him over the last 2 years in the U19/EDT he was more a 10/attacking wide player. He looks great in this attacking centre-midfield role. That year at Bradford has done wonders for him.
I'll leave it at that as I think its needless to do a player by player breakdown.

Why are Diakhaby and Mbenza judged differently by many on here? I thought Mooy had a steady first game, not as involved in the second. Haven't seen enough of Diakhaby to make a judgement as to his long term prospects. But... if he can play like he did in the last 20 minutes of the second game - tackling back, beating a man and putting crosses in, then he will be a real asset.

Please don't compare Mooy with those two. Exhibit A! I think Mooy has earned a little slack Those two on the other hand, not sure why people feel the need to be apologists for them. Tis what it is, so far they've been a disaster, no point pretending different. That may change and if it does they'll be judged accordingly. I'm confident neither will ever be good enough to be compared to Mooy though

I'm confident neither will ever be good enough to be compared to Mooy though Absolutely bizarre! So it is ok to point out the second game's biggest Town threat was poor in the first game but Mooy who underperformed IMO in both games - Meh its ok cos he's Mooy. If you can't critique a player's performance equally then your opinion is already skewed. Most everything about Town last season was a disaster - I don't understand why some folk seem to solely focus on them when COLLECTIVELY we were garbage. To some, I swear they think we got relegated because of Diakhaby and Mbenza alone.

Diakhaby and Mbenza hardly played and when they did they offered nothing barely even touched the ball most games. So it’d be pretty harsh to blame relegation on them!
