Surely at some point we can opt to have our season cards on our phone? That will cut out all packaging. It is only a barcode after all.

I’d expect massive queues as people try to scan everything from a Tesco Club Card to a tin of beans. The fact the Club had to tell people that they couldn’t use season cards last season from years ago was concerning at best.

My dad would be buggered, he'd never see a game again if he had to use a ticket on his phone. He can barely turn the thing on.

Oy!! Tbf, he’s right. You see that's what I struggle to comprehend, home computers and Mobile phones have been around near enough 40 years. Half the life of what we probably consider an old person. Personally I worked in engineering for the last 40 years of my working life, modern machinery evolved massively in that time and I had to adapt to it. Programming computerised machinery as well as running them. The notion that because you're old means you're out of touch couldn't be more wrong, at least in my case and the 'old people' I worked with.

See plenty of senile old folk boarding planes using their phones to get access to the departure lounge and access the planes. Funnily enough, it's the younger ones who seem reliant on a sheet of A4 that they printed off at their mum cos they don't actually own a printer.

They see me with a smart phone and are surprised I know my way around it...…..At my age.

The human race will collapse with the overuse of technology.
I've no issue with apps on phones, but for something that would cause so much grief if there were a problem with your phone or even a power cut to electronic readers etc., then a backstop of a paper copy or something where a human being can read it old school is sensible. Wasn't there an IT glitch at Manchester airport not so long ago that caused chaos and cancellations?

Can not elaborate but I’ve seen technology fail in an industry where failure costs lives, so to me use it but always be prepared in any walk of life for it to fail.

I have a little Doro (less about my personal problems,) seriously though I pay £7.50 a month , I can ring and text and that's all I want !

Won't be climate change that gets us it will be technology. Computer says no and refuses the overide.
Onboard system says the airport is there etc.
Card entry turnstile does not like your card? Scary stuff
I have grandchildren specifically to assist with IT, it's the modern version of sending them up chimneys or down the pit.😉

Judging from the average age of posters commenting and suggesting they're not old, I'd say about 117...
