the tried and trusted scannable card is the best option. What I would suggest might be a great idea is that when you apply for a Season ticket in the future, a scan of the ticket owners face might be taken and available when a season ticket is scanned at the turnstile to prevent fraud.

The first computer I saw was on tomorrow's world it was the size of a tall cupboard had flashing lights two big spools at the top that kept spinning. I said then it will never catch on .and I was right.

Too many old codgers at town who probably don't know how to use a modern phone to be honest. Your probably right but are they really so essential , my daughter pays £50 a month for her smart phone . I have a little Doro (less about my personal problems,) seriously though I pay £7.50 a month , I can ring and text and that's all I want ! You actually ring on it? That's so last year..

Unless I've just pulled it out of thin air, I'm sure Sean Jarvis mentioned that they were going to trial mobile season tickets soon. Many people (especially those troublesome bloody old people) may not want to use that?! I'm sure the option would be there to use the app and/or just use a card. I would guess in a few years it will be common place, and anyone who buys a season card and wants a physical card, may have to pay an additional fee to get it printed/posted. I already have the facility on my phone to add debit/credit cards, reward cards, train/bus/tram tickets, concert tickets, it can make life so much easier (but i understand it is scary at the same time to have a reliance on technology). No doubt at some point you will be able to lock your house/car with your phone as well, cutting out the need to carry around anything but your phone.

Irrespective of what's used at the customer's end, whenever I've gone to away grounds with automated barcode reader turnstiles they always seem way more efficient at getting people in than our lot in their little cells taking three goes at it before you can go through the barrier.

It takes more than a minute to warm up and is useless. I make about six calls a year and I understand millions of paid texts etc. are paid for and not used. Bit like some players bought and hardly ever used. I Teresa May and the EU!

Therefore...good...they could probably do with the walk to the ticket office to sort entry out anyway, it’ll do them good, and reduce the number of pie flakes floating about (people who eat pies at football matches also seem unable to get the whole pie into their gobs for some reason).

Those turnstile operators live in their little cells. That's their homes so we'd be making them homeless as well as jobless if we introduce self scanning. It doesn't sit well with me

On a serious note, I'm trying to get more and more time phone free. At work, I make sure I don't have my phone on me and I do lots more work. I also do lots more useless chatting to colleagues, which must be a good thing. I go walking and running phone free and that can be quite liberating but there is always that nagging doubt that I might be missing something.

The club could introduce phone based tickets for anyone interested tomorrow if they wished. But they don’t seem to trust the fans and/or turnstile operators to use it properly. Possibly with good reason!
I’ve seen the ticket office tweet people and say that an emailed match ticket cannot be used on their phone which is absolute nonsense. It’s a barcode!

It was more in reference to the number of facility's you mention that could be a drain, plus of course the game fanatics out there and DATM posters continually on site.

People want access to games via their phones but on the other hand they freak out when someone suggests getting rid of paper fixture lists and plastic wallets?
Odd 🤷♂️

Surely at some point we can opt to have our season cards on our phone? That will cut out all packaging. It is only a barcode after all. Too many old codgers at town who probably don't know how to use a modern phone to be honest. If you discount the very old, the very young, the people off their faces and the general fuckwits we’d be left with about half a dozen people who’d be able to use a phone to scan in.

Station a 10 year old near each card entry and they can help all the elderly, the very young and those off their tits to swipe in? Special entry gate for those trying to grab a beer right on kick off in the style of a drinks station in the Marathon? The gate being padded so you can sort of bounce your way in.

Insert a chip under the skin of each season ticket holder.
It's the future.

Just reading the blurb that came with my season ticket. Apparently 'the summer has gotten off to a great start'.
Gotten?
Is Phil Hodgkinson American?

FFS our youngsters need educating on how to speak English these days. "Gotten"?!?! Dear oh dear oh dear. Seems whoever teaches kids to speak and write English these days are fine with us adopting the American language. Don't get me started on the fecking "Off season", "Can I get" etc, the list is endless. When did people forget how to speak properly. We grew up with American TV, lots of it, but didn't start walking around talking like Bo and Luke Duke or Colt Seavers. Strange phenomenon, I guess it's phones and the internet and educational institutions who cant be arsed to correct it or maybe the teachers don't know any better. "Gotten" - ffs. Who writes this shit? Is it a direct quote, Phil didn't sound very American to me and I don't remember the Young Terriers having an American branch.

Gotten was a word used here before we were even aware that America existed.
