OR, and this is way out of left field...we have almost £200m in on field assets... How do you work that one out then? I could be completely wide of the mark here and taking a HUGE leap of faith but I suspect he means that the combined value of our playing squad in its entirety would be worth pushing £200m based on what we paid for them/what it would cost to buy them from us.

Am I the only one that sees it like this. 1. Get promoted to the PL. You don't get much money for that - your $100M isn't coming until the end of the season. So you borrow, because you know its coming. Half on signings the other half on wages . At the end of season 1 you are left with - nothing after you have paid your loan off..
2. Season 2 starts -you still have to pay the wages, and you blow some more on new signings. At the end of season 2 you are left with not much, but enough to pay inflated wages in the Championship so you can keep your good players. The only timing I am not sure about is the parachute payment. I mean we just trousered $100M (which paid of loan) so does the parachute payment come at the end of this forthcoming season.
is that how it works?

Not sure when the lump sums are paid but I always thought transfer fees were paid in instalments. Not sure where I got that from though

Not all transfer fees are paid in instalments but most are structured that way and it was Dean Hoyle at a recent Q&A who explained the process of when and how we’ve done that ie Mbenza would be paid for over the course of last, this and next seasons budget

I would not care if we never paid a fee ever again. Loads of footballers...not so many great teams of history and tradition. Come on a free....prove your worth and then get a million a year. Too much player power and only 6 trophies for 92 teams.

where told all our money has gone!!.dean the messiah hoyle ad to put another £15 million to keep club going.we have just spent 2 years in premier league if im not mistaken!!!.i dont work for nasa but sumat doesnt seem to add up to me.where scrating around for lower league and freebies. dont seem to have two pennys to rub together or a pot to piss in.all smoke and mirrors id love to see detailed accounts to see where the money trail leads to.🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑 Maybe you could look at the accounts when they are released next year. All adds up to me on basic approximations and assumptions. It costs a lot to run a Premier League club...and when someone pulls most of the rug out from under you, something has to give,

Well when I told my colleague who works in finance that we'd pissed £250m up against a wall, she said that's poor financial management and I have to say, I think she may have a point. Wages. Unfortunately you can’t pay £30k a year or whatever the average salary is nowadays,...every footballer is equivalent of about 50 real people. Hence why a squad of 30 amounts to £50m+ on wages and bonuses etc. Throw in 50m on fees and agents cuts each year and your annual £100m has soon gone. Remember agents get a cut of not just new signings, but simple contract extensions etc etc, Relegated and the £50m+ of wages drops, but only to a level that is just about covered by this years parachutes and EPL money. Next season (assumijg we don’t get promoted, given promotion is a highly unlikely scenario) the parachute drops again, the wages won’t unless we remove and replace with lower contracted players. What I don’t get is why this is a surprise...the EPL doesn’t make you a king, it enables you to exist in the EPL, that is all. We’re a Championship club now, albeit we are one that will be more akin to a Derby or Forest than what we were before, a Barnsley or Luton bleating about having the lowest operational budget in the league and it’s too hard. We’re in a good position if sensibly managed to be a force in the Championship for the coming years, does anyone really want or expect more than that?

For relevance this is the chart showing PL wages for 2017/18 our first PL season..... Championship wages for the same season (3 clubs missing who are yet to publish their accounts)

Are Mooy, Mounié, Kongolo, Pritchard, Diakhaby etc all stuffed in Dean's sock drawer somewhere?

Interesting ‘what if’ analysis if TV money from the PL was removed; the losses are staggering, even ours and we’re at the bottom...

This thread has surpassed all the drivel I have read on this forum over the last couple of years. People commenting on something they have no inside knowledge of as if they have all the answers. Finance is a complex subject beyond the comprehension of pretty much every commentator on this thread, clearly. So say nowt and avoid looking stupid. The only fact you need to know is the club’s asset base, balance sheet and p & l statement are all off the scale better than 3 years ago. That gives the club options beyond any imagining in the pre premier phase of DH’s tenure. HTAFC have never been a profligate club and are not about to change that. Calm the fuck down and enjoy the footie... Having said that, most football related comments on this forum are utter bollox as well.

We're as healthy as we've ever been financially, we're buying young talent from lower leagues who are ready for the step up & have the most valuable squad of players we've ever assembled.
Not to mention the £25m-£30m we have sitting without squad numbers in Billing & Jørgensen.
The club is in excellent shape & could do far worse than to consider buying back our ground imo.

There is not any way, shape or form we shall receive £25-30m for billing and zanka, if they both go I’d say it’ll be £10m combined with possible add ons or % of future sales for billing etc, absolute max £15m for them combined.

Bull. Take a look at the market. £25m is peanuts for a talent like Billing & a proven international in Zanka in today's market. It's not 2012 anymore.

What is the point of what you are adding to this conversation? What do you hope to achieve? I want Town not to pay rent on our ground by owning it. I think now is a good time to buy it back. If the Giants want to own it too in part and not pay us rent to use it, then fantastic. Let the Giants buy as big a share as they want to and are able. So long as we're not paying rent to play our home games and not having to deal with a concert at our ground mid-season ever again. Do you oppose?

Zanka will go for at best the money we paid for him, and although Billing has the potential the situation at present won’t work in our favour for getting as high a fee as we may have got if he was in the squad and we were looking to keep him....think billings fee will be relatively modest and add ons being the part that could drive the fee up over time

Where you think the moneys coming from to buy out all concerned and pay for the upkeep god knows, I only know it will never happen.

Be amazed if the pair fetched 10 the way it’s panned out. But yes, generally I agree.
