Promotion has already gone imo After 1 game? Wow! Obviously not mathematically but on the evidence of that would you say promotion was likely? In all honesty, probably not.

Siewert was given had half the season to assess the relegated failures of last season ,and low and behold he is still included v Derby some of the biggest failures of last season especially the clueless Flo .
The one thing i was looking for last night was a clear attacking game plan with a strong defence , active midfield , and hopefully not a lone striker "ESPECIALLY AT HOME "
Sadly this was same as last season as little or no end product Mooy looked unfit , Prichard on the charge is still continuously running into a brick wall and Kachunga still cannot hit a barn door at 10 paces
Amazingly the defensive problems of last season have still not been put right as the back five including keeper looked seriously disorganised when Derby were in or around the box
Siewert and his management team should have been looking to bring in abit of quality in the close season to lead the charge up the table , but his chosen team on the field last night looked totally predictable and clueless for most of the game eventually running out of ideas.
These players do not have what it takes to get town into the championship top six ,and will no doubt end up costing Siewert his job sooner than later unless something positive is done by the new owner..

What worries me is that some of our players do not have it in them to play the way the Manager wants them to. WE don't press fast enough, we don't push forward as a unit with any tempo etc etc. IMO opinion the Manager needs to either adapt our play to suit our best players or play the players best suited to the high tempo game he wants even if that means dropping some of the more established players. Said it before the squad is not suited to 433, it's more of a 442 squad or a variation on that. The midfield weren't compact enough meaning Derby moved through us pretty easily leaving the defence exposed and the 3 strikers not pressing quickly enough. Either the players don't understand their roles in 433 or Seiwert doesn't know how to use the formation effectively. I'm not sure which is it is. I thought we were nearer 4231 than anything else last night. The problems came from playing Bacuna deeper than Mooy, when they were switched at half-time we looked better. I don't see 442 in this squad at all.

Obviously not mathematically but on the evidence of that would you say promotion was likely? In all honesty, probably not. Erm... Due to the fact it's only been one game I'd say it's early days and I hope we improve. The second half was a lot better than the first half, so one could argue that by September we'll be top of the league and on our way..... Probably

Watching on Sky last night but my assessment would be.
- Kongolo is not a LB, looks so uncomfortable coming forward and crossing. Play him at CB where he is class. Elphick looked way off the pace and was continually pulled waaay out of position. Schindler is good enough to play as the right sided centre half if Kongolo plays alongside him. Not sure who plays LB if Kongolo doesn't... - Pritchard and Mooy work well as a double pivot, that's how to unlock a championship team who form two banks of 4 when defending. Play Pritch in the hole, wasted on the left. Last night, the Pritchard / Kongolo combo offered ZERO threat down the left side. - Mooy and Hogg are good enough to play as a two against most teams. Bacuna is an ok back up but not really sure what he does; is he supposed to be box to box; can't seem to track a man or beat a man... - Flo needs to learn to cross, else give the young lad Brockhorn a go. However, our tactic cannot just be for fullback to swing in speculative balls, especially with one front man not necessarily known for his aerial prowess. - Pace out wide is fine but needs end product, Diakhaby and Mpenza will improve but VLP has better (not perfect) end product right now... Can Koromo play out wide? - Grant is class.
Any comments about sacking the manager are ridiculous, he needs some time before we judge.
Also comments about fitness levels; kind of natural to be slightly off, most Championship teams were similarly off this weekend.

I could have summed it up in a lot less words.
We are still shite even in the Championship!

The worst bit for me was that, for all the talk, all the time spent ‘planning’ for the Championship and the wait to start a new season with a clean slate...we were utterly out pressed, out though and out vattled from kick off. They snapped and harried is like we used to do to other teams, winning every 50/50, regaining possession high and were full of energy. We looked knackered from the off. No heart, no desire.
I can accept losing to a better team but after 8 months of being told we were regrouping to be out battled at home was unacceptable.

Thought Kongolo and Pritchard had poor games and Schindler, Mooy and Flo were our best players personally, funny how we see things differently. Might need a trip to specsavers! Watch the match again on sky and in particular Pritchard’s involvement. He was our one footballer last night! I’m not going to, but fair enough I might have got Pritchards contribution wrong. He looked to be showing plenty of endeavour without getting anywhere to me, probably because he should always be up the middle and not wide
