Apologies if this has been shared on here before. It is Phils view on HTFC taken from facebook last December when speculation about Wagners future was rife Points 1, 4 and 5 show him to have the same feelings as most fans Point 6 shows he was a bit rose coloured However - points 2 and 3 show a huge financial naivety - hope he didn't think this was the case when he agreed to buy the club Point 7 - Hmmm.... Hope its visible as not sure about this cut and pasting stuff

Points 2 and 3 are not naive, they are correct. So is point 7 if you read it correctly.

Thanks for sharing this. I tend to agree with him on most points as far as them being observations, but having seen this list it's now clear that he's actually implementing #3, selling off most of the assets, not replacing most of them, and starting over again. It's a high risk strategy starting all over, I wouldn't do it this way, but hey, he's the new boss.
I think we can now be pretty sure that he'll stick with Jan for an awful long time, or if he doesn't, he'll be using the new assistant instead and Hudson might then become his assistant, but certainly will not be splashing out on Hughton or any other big name.

Some notable scribes on here were urging Dean to look for a "better manager" in out first premier league season. Now we haven't got it we are sure as hell missing it ;-)

I'm sure I read somewhere PH may cash in in 3 years when we're in the PL? He's talked about 10 years....but (completely my opinion) I get the feeling he's more a caretaker. Dean needed out quickly and I think phil was the man to buy us some time to find some new owners.... which, I guess puts things into perspective a bit when we are moaning, as maybe his hand was forced a bit into taking it on. But could be completely wrong on that

But could be completely wrong on that I tend to agree with you, I posted a while back that Dean , at only 52, is but a nipper yet..and subject to his health being ok I think he'll be back sooner rather than later. There'll be the usual excuse maybe that PH needed more time to pursue his business interests so DH felt he had been rejuvinated enough and was ready for another crack at it.. Hopefully there'll still be a bob or two left in the kitty...but DH will probably have had all his previous investment repaid so if his missus agrees he can just come along and spend it all again !!

But could be completely wrong on that There's an interview somewhere with Dean. He says that he had offers for the club but not of them were right for the club, Phil H is taking over the chairman and owner roles as Dean believes the time is right for him to step aside; however, the intention is that in three years we shall have found a suitable new owner. Very much the impression that Dean had enough but wanted someone else to steer the ship and handle the sale of the club. The fact that he has retained 25% and a place on the board (which due to the systems in place means that 99% of all decisions have to go through the board) makes me pretty certain that he still has a watchful eye on the tiller and PH is indeed a caretaker.

Hands up. I have been guilty of calling for a manager's head in the past. Clark, Grayson and Robin's to me had served their time and werent doing a good enough job. As much as I loved Wagner at the time I felt that we had completely lost out momentum and abandoned what had made us so successful in the first place so I felt it time for a change.
Right now I would give anything to have him back. Though the performance and subsequent results dwindled he still had this club from boardroom to fans stuck together like glue. That glue has now disappeared and we are falling apart at the seams. The atmosphere has disappeared and we now have a manager and chairman who are providing no grounds for optimism whatsoever.
Be careful what you wish for ey

Be careful what you wish for ey We had completely lost momentum, but we had the lowest budget in the league, by miles (for some reason). It was always going to show sooner or later. The players would run through a brick wall for him...they just ultimately did not have enough quality. The fans would run through a brick wall for him as well, most still would. He galvanised a whole football club so that it was all pulling in the same direction, and probably had no idea he was doing so. He changed the careers of a few, players who would have never seen the premier league (and salaries to match) without him. Man management is 90% of the job and he was unbelievable at it, until the strain began to show. He probably cared too much by the time it started going tits up. The fact he's moved on to Schalke, a massive club, showed what impact his work had had outside Huddersfield. I'm convinced he'll make a sucess of it, he's too good not to. For the first time in his managerial career he'll have a budget on par at least with his peers. Sadly, his like won't be here again.

We still missed out on a great opportunity to establish ourselves in the PL with poor recruitment last summer and sticking with Wagner when he was looking to leave at the end of that season.

When he took over we were bottom of the championship. Now he's gone we are bottom of the championship. When he was here we beat man Utd at home. Beat Leeds three times on the spin , drew away at man city and Chelsea, and even topped the premier league table. Not sure what someone has to do for you , Arterrier and otium to rate then as a success. All you weirdos got entitled in the premier league and look where we are now . In the shit. Hope that gives you a warm glow

Did anyone really think we'd get a 'better' manager in absolute terms though? I think practically all the fans regardless of their position at the time would've killed to have had the Wagner of his first two years back, the question was more 'Could he ever be that for us again without the shock of the new and with the backwards momentum we'd gained?' Managers/coaches at any club can run into that situation, even if they're the best in the world. Whoever we got in wouldn't have been another 2016 Wagner, but that's not to say they couldn't possibly have worked out better than how 2019 Wagner was looking.
I never called for him to be sacked and wouldn't have dreamed of it because I fucking loved the guy, as much as I was concerned about the change in him as soon as we gained promotion. That only concerned me more as time went on but I desperately wanted him to get his mojo back and I'm sure even most of those who actually did call for a change wanted that too, they just lost faith that it could happen and, to be fair, it almost never does once the initial momentum goes.
And that's saying nothing of the fact that he was planning on leaving anyway. Of course there'll always be some who'll be dickheads about the manner in which they demand something but it's hard to point at most of the people who suggested a change was required when in the end both Wagner AND the club felt exactly the same.

not meaning to sound funny but Wagner wanted away. He was touting himself around all over the place wasn't he? (at least that's what Dean suggested in a recent interview) so why would you want someone here who did /does not want to be here? Strange. I think going for a rookie manager again expecting the same success was a huge mistake as well. Wagner for his first 2 seasons did an amazing job. Siewert seems to have done exactly the oppposite. Lightning never strikes twice.
Having said that I hope the guy suceeds.
If we lose tonight tho he might be toast.

It kind of did. First with Wagner and then with Farke at Norwich. The big difference is that JS started in the PL, whereas the other two started in a league lower. It’s still too early to know if he’s up to at this level but agree that he needs to start winning games soon. Two big ones for him this week, even if tonight isn’t really that important for the season.
