Grabara Hadergjonaj, Elphick, Schindler, Kongolo Hogg Bacuna, O'Brien Pritchard Grant, Mounie Surely Bacuna can't start again? It would send a bad message to the rest of the squad that performances don't matter. He's been well below his best and required subbing off early every game so far. O'Brien and Chalobah are ahead of him for now IMO. Bacuna and Brown are the only forward thinking midfielders we have though |

When Hudson stood in after Wagner quit he made 5 changes to the team that drew at Cardiff, dropping Flo, Zanka, Durm, Mounie and Pritchard As I've said before I think that selection was influenced by Siewart. I'm sure someone on here, towards the end of the season, alluded to something having happened in training in the build up to the game which meant Hudson only had certain players to choose from due to the disciplinary fallout |

The current squad in my opinion can only be lined up this way to get everyone playing in there best positions. -----------------GRABARA-------------- ----ELPHICK----SCHINDLER-----KONGOLO--- --------CHALOBAH-------HOGG----------- ---DIAKHABY---PRITCHARD---VAN LA PARRA-- ----------MBENZA---GRANT------------- You can play the press using that formation but you also have the ability to rotate in spells diaks vlp and mbenza. Quite like it, but I think Elphick would be struggling against the darty Junior Hoilett. |

Quite like it, but I think Elphick would be struggling against the darty Junior Hoilett. Kongolo is the only CB we've got that wouldn't struggle against Hoilett I know. I'd put Schindler on that side of the back three and move Stankovic to the middle. Or hope that Bockhorn has been improving and put him on Hoilett's side and keep Schindler in the middle of a back 3. With Elphick at the right side of a back 3, we'd have to make sure Hoilett doesn't get the ball too often. There's no way that Warnock would fail to identify that as the small chink in Town's armour :-) |

Yes there is a need for a blend with some pace in the team but its no good having 11 whippets who cant bloody play!! Look at quality footballers - Macguire, De Bruyne, Kane - they are not blessed with massive pace but read the game well. Schindler is the same for us. Its about a blend. |

Correct, but I'd argue those you've named are quick. It's just not their primary asset. Put them in a Championship team and they'd be the quickest players in it. It's ensuring we use pace properly, rather than just have it. I'd play 3 at the back. 3-4-3. Wingers plus wing backs, with two solid holding midfielders in the middle to keep the team balanced. Wing backs can drop defensively. Wingers get closer to the striker when we're in possession and act as inside forwards, with the wing backs pushing on to provide the width. Brown Hogg Chalobah Hadergjonaj Van la Parra Diakhaby Grant Probably a little bit insane, but more of an option with the personnel we've got than a flat 4-4-2 or 4-3-3. |

They don’t all need to be super quick but there was a moment at QPR when Elphick looked like he had diver’s boots on chasing a ball down. Guarantee any of those players you mention are quicker than him. Pace also more important in a three where you have to cover space in the channel behind the wing back. Not to say he can’t be a good player. He’s just got to compensate for it a hell of f a lot |

My god if we played your 442 we'd be skinned alive. So focus on keeping the ball. If you've ever played/coached football at a decent level you'd know your team wouldnt work on any level imaginable. VLP - a natural right footer whose played his career as a left winger/central striker playing left back? Kachunga - a striker all his career (before town) playing right back? O'Brein/Pritchard - two players whose whole career has been playing central either holding midfield or attacking midfield being deployed as the wide men in a 442, natural instinct would be for them to drift inward to allow VLP and Kachunga to overlap, who then covers the full backs when the midfielders have drifted inwards? I'm not saying your idea is shit it just wouldn't work at Championship level football, at all. |
