Reading have failed to win their last 34 away games. That run will end on Saturday. I'm going for an optimistic draw but just you know what's going to happen with a stat like that.

God are we in a mess already. What has happened to our club? These players are a disgrace to football and us fans at the minute and I don’t care what anybody says these players couldn’t care less. Ooo we’ve just been battered by Cardiff and haven’t won a game all season but that’s okay let’s go on Instagram and post a load of drivel about how we’ll keep fighting and results will come. 🤣 until every player starts to put in 110% we’ll continue to struggle. There’s a large number of players at current I wouldn’t be bothered if they never played for us again. Hudson said it’s a clean slate for everybody so get back to basics 4-4-2 get mounie upfront with grant and play hoof ball cos all this tippy tappy is working wonders (not). As bad as we’ve been over 18 months all the goals we concede are from our own downfall. I honestly staying in the premier league is the reason we are in this mess. The players started to believe there own hype and a couple of poor transfers windows is coming back to bite us badly. What a shocking squad we’ve ended up with😂 Anyway onwards and upwards is all I can say I beg we beat reading but it’ll Ben another struggle. As bad as things get 3 wins on the spin and you’re back in the mix. UTT There's more chance of a deal being struck with the EU than Town posting 3 wins on the trot at the moment. Three wins in a season rather than in a row is a more realistic target.

Our wingers are totally ineffective, so why play a system that puts so much emphasis on wingers. Look back to DW changing to 3 at the back. We were a good goalscorer off getting results i think at the time. We have that now in Grant and hopefully Campbell so I would like to see 3-4-1-2
Grabara Stankovic - Schindler - Kongolo Flo/Bockhorn - Hogg/Bacuna - Trev - J Brown Pritchard/R Brown Campbell - Grant

You'd have had Reading down as relegation dead certs pre season but now, I can't see past a Reading win the way we are performing.

Even with a Puscas in their side, this is not going to happen. Must win? For Hudson, yes - if not, it will probably rule him out in the race to see who gets the manager's seat. I'm tipping him to get a response from the players and for Town to chalk up the first 3 points ot season.

Well, we'll see. I just get that feeling that the players themselves will respond accordingly in the name of professional pride. So much so that I'm going for a 4-1 win. Mind you, I'm also assuming that he'll make the necessary corrections from Wednesday, i.e. omit Menbza, revert to 3 at the back in a 3-5-2 (or more accurately, a 3-3-2-2). And most importantly of all, install some ZING. My line-up and shape: ------------------------Grabara------------------- -------Stankovic--------Schindler---------Kongolo Hadergjonaj-------------Hogg-----------------O'Brien -----------------Kachunga-------Chalobah-------- ----------------Grant-------------Campbell => => 4 - 1 TUT TOWN!

This game will tell us if Hudson has the credentials to be manager. It will. There was a passage of play in the 1st half on Wednesday that was the best quick passing move we'd done for over 12 months. If that sort of play was extended I'd be happier. The players do look as though they need to be fitter though and that won't come overnight. If he stops the suicide goalkicks it might help my blood pressure

I am going to this game on Saturday fully expecting Town to lose and put in another absolute shower of a performance. Anything above that would be a bonus. We are not only in freefall, we are sinking like an anvil dropped from a Boeing 737. We are paying the price once again for not speculating to accumulate. We do it the other way around and it just does not work. We are a laughing stock and to make matters worse all those negative comments we attracted last season look now to be words of wisdom. I don't know what it is about Town but as soon as we look like a real football club we get dizzy and fall over.
To make matters much, much worse here is what could happen in the next five months ... Shindler, Kongola, Grant, Mounie, RVP and of course Chalobah who will never be one of our players make a hasty exit. Chelsea may swap the loan as they did with Izzy Brown when he was at Rotherham. Seriously, can you imagine playing with Elphick in the middle with Stankovic (who is much more reliable but not ready on his own to play a Schindler like role) and the full backs as Brown and Hadergoneverasitistoomuchlikedangeroursandimghtgethurt. The midfield will be Bacuna, Hogg, Reece Brown and the young lad who is wet behind the ears but a good prospect. Up front it will be er ... Campbell who by then will have proved why Hull really released him and a n other. Not only relegation will be secured but odds on for the drop right through to League 2.
None of this is fantasy at all. It makes more sense than expecting us to actually stay up. When you stand still in football you go backwards. When you intentionally pull yourself backwards as we have done it is a sprint to the bottom.
Real questions have to be asked of not only recruitment but of retention. Why have players of the calibre of Joe Lolly who will score a hatful against us this season, Jack Payne who has embarrassed us already, Dwain Holmes who is a star in the making at Derby even though we discovered him and nurtured him and even Michael Hefele who may have had an injury problem recently but at least he did actually contribute massively to team building. I know that sounds daft but in the current situation team spirit is dismal.
I lived through the last time it happened and it has scarred me for life. I reckon we lost a sizeable chunk of our fanbase too. Not only that but we became a smaller club in terms of stature. We were forgotten by the early 1980's and even ex-players like Bob Wilson, who had played at a packed Leeds Road, were commenting on the size of the crowd that season against Barnsley (under Buxton a decade later), yet he had played in front of more at Leeds Road. He should not have been so surprised. We face that again. I still find it hard to see how teams like Bradford, Barnsley and Hull are our 'rivals.' Until the despair of the 1970s relegations we had hardly played them with any intensity. Even Leeds United were not a rival until Revie and even then they played most of their football in a different division. We were bracketed as the rivals of the Manchester clubs, Burnley (a proper rivalry this with them having by far their biggest ever attendance against us in the 1950s) and to an extent the Sheffield clubs. Soon we were playing the likes of Halifax for a derby ... and losing.
How could Dean Hoyle stand aside and let this happen?
