1. New manager is key. We have seen with Wagner, Farke, Wilder, Bielsa etc the difference a good manager makes. Regardless of the cost it is worth it. The new guy needs to inspire players, get any wantaways back on board. Sort us defensively as this was a strength and is more realistic than making us free flowing attacking. Karanka is the man for me. 90+ games at Real Madrid, 3 Champions League medals, good championship record. 2. Free agents. Invite players like Lee catermole in for a trial. Maybe a short term contract. Not even necessarily to play, but experienced good pro. We need some new faces to help get this loser mentality gone. Martin Olsson, Joe Ledley, players like this. 3. HoF working on January signings. 3 loans priority. Don't want to rush long term signings, but can't hang about. 4. Backroom. Think we do need stability and not make knee jerk reactions, but bolstering the team would be wise. 5. Q&A with fans, should do these regularly anyway. We can forget that one /photo/1

Cattermole signing for a dutch team is a further example of the problem we face scratching around for free signings after the season kicked off. Joe Ledley apparently in Cyprus thinking of linking up with Puncheon. Again not saying he is the answer but the more fresh faces, leadership and positive people you can get around the squad the better.

Five point plan: 1) Obvious; appoint a manager with experience of this division. Plenty of candidates no doubt. 2) Allow him to bring in his own people (at all levels - including head of football operations.) If that leads to redundancies/demotions ok so be it. 3) Guarantee him the final say on player recruitment at Crimbo. 4) During the upcoming break take the team off-site and get them turbo fit. They look to be blowing out of their fundamental orifices in the four games that I have seen this season. 5) Give the guy space and time to establish a clear "identity" - used to be called playing style in my day - and stick to it.
Please, please DO NOT make a left-field appointment for this key position just because it worked once.....
Looking forward to doing Reading over on Saturday-----if you feel down, remember the last time we played them!!

Be honest explain club bought by putting debt back onto the club. It matters because we are the working class club, and plain speaking is a given.

Ok, we know we’re in the shit. We know what we all think has gone wrong. What is your 5 step plan for putting it right? What would you do if you were at the wheel? 1. Appoint a manager trusted at this level to steady the ship. At the moment I doubt Hughton would come, so I’d be happy with someone like Gary Rowett. Phil Parkinson has been strongly rumoured and, despite the Empty Chair, we could do worse. 2. Clear out the back room. I said this last night ion Radio Leeds’ phone in. I have nothing against Hudson and the coaching staff but they are part of a losing culture at the moment. They are also part of the furniture. Our players rock up and see Hudson, Whitehead etc. and they’re the same faces they’ve seen for years. We need a clean slate, which means sadly it’s time for them to go. Let’s get someone in who will bring their own staff. 3. Do not let anyone from the squad go that we can’t replace during the remaining days of the European window. I’m thinking anyone from our defence or midfield. Kongolo must stay. Schindler must stay. Mounie can go if we need the cash. 4. Be honest about our financial situation. Be open. We’ve had two years on the gravy train and have apparently no gravy to show for it. Our wage bill was slashed automatically on relegation. We’ve released some big earners, sold some more and received decent fees, spent the square root of fuck all and fans are rightly wondering where the brass has gone. 5. Play the right system for our players. Elphick isn’t looking like the answer to any kind of question other than “show me a player we shouldn’t have signed” at the moment. We need Kongolo to play centrally. This means either a back 3 with Kongolo, Schindler and either Elphick or Stankovic, or a back 4 with someone else at left back. Either let Jaden Brown have a run or bring in a free transfer. Martin Olssen is available. I’d also look at a midfielder on a free. Hatem Ben Arfa , Yohan Cabaye, James Morrison and Joe Ledley are available, for example. I’d also look at Danny Simpson at right back. Give them sensible contracts. They want a wage. We need to find a way to give some of these guys one. We are right in the thick of it but the Championship is one of those divisions where with a new manager bounce we could pick up points easily. The next week or so will tell us everything we need to know about Phil H. Either our worst fears are confirmed, or he is as ill-equipped and unambitious as some say he is. Agree with most of that. The bit in bold though- have read a few people suggest we spent almost nothing this summer on incoming signings. Well in the main we didn;t, but easy as it is to forget this, we did actually buy Mbenza from Montpellier this summer for something in the region of £8m. The money we paid for him last season was a loan fee ( heard that was about £3m )

The money we paid for him last season was a loan fee ( heard that was about £3m ) I've discounted that as effectively that was spent last summer, not this. Most straight up transfers these days involve payments in instalments and the budget should have been amended in 2018 to reflect that.

Effectively it wasn't at all. We loaned him the previous summer.. paid a loan fee. This summer we bought him.. paid about £8m. It would have been about £11m but the loan fee was taken off that.
All a bit tragic when you think of the player, but we can't just pretend he cost nothing because he should have.
