What’s all that about, PH stated we’re interviewing UK based and international this week. Never understand how a football manager can prove anything in an interview process, pundits talk a good game maybe we should appoint Gary Neville he’d interview well. We should know who we want and be going hell for leather to get them through the door.

Ian Dowie is a smart guy and probably comes across very well in interviews, doesn't mean we should appoint him as manager We've appointed the likes of Chris Powell and Mark Robins after long interview processes. We should have a very good idea of who we want. Sit down and talk to him, if his ideas and ethos fit then appoint him.

How can someone who hasn't got a clue about football and has overseen 12 months of total rubbish be in any way qualified to choose the next manager?

Well considering we want someone with experience we go off what we have seen from their previous teams performance, Or our DOFO uses his contacts in the game and past experience to choose someone we want to take the club forward and we go get them rather than having a pointless interview process. I think the weapons here are the ones that think we should be choosing our manager based on a 1 hour conversation where some guy puts his best foot forward, yeah lets pick the guy that talks the best game.

With DW it was always stated that there was a long-term plan of succession once he left. JS was named as the preferred replacement but was brought in sooner than anticipated.
I'm making an assumption here that we've been caught cold with the situation with regard to letting JS go and as it stands we have no succession plan in place for the next manager and that we are starting with a complete blank canvas; we've no-one in mind at all and are going to go through the standard open application/interview process as it would be for any job!
I do hope the DoF has a solid little black book of contacts with key recommendations in it that he can offer up...

My limited brain has looked at a statement from our chairman to the press and is reserving the right to question the process of an interview for the position of football coach at championship level. Your limited brain however should maybe check your grammar before questioning someone else’s mental capacity.

I'm not suggesting we appoint without speaking to them but having a full interview process with several candidates seems a bit bizarre for a high profile position such as this. My point is how much emphasis can you put on a limited conversation in the grand scheme of things.

I do understand the interview process, when a club is is league 1 or 2, championship or above a managers ethos will be 'if you want me come and get me'
They want the ego trip of not needing an interview.

We should know who we want, interview him Not interview a long list of managers who've sent their CV in

Jesus wept....... So now we are having a go at the man for conducting interviews.... Stop being so defensive it’s a valid debate, how much emphasis would you put on an interview for a job like this? For example say you interview Phil Parkinson and Chris Hughton and Parkinson holds himself better in an interview and comes across well do you completely ignore the fact that one has a more successful past at this level and the level above based on a 1-2 hour interview

We didn’t interview anyone else when we went for Wagner they knew what they wanted and they went and got it. Yes they met and discussed the vision but they didn’t interview loads of lower league German coaches to see who had the best ideas

We can go for whoever the fuck we want, but if they ain’t BAME then we still have to interview. Just fucking read. Listen.

The Examiner states: "What has become clear is that EVERY single one of the men Town are prepared to interview has applied for the job, whether they are in work or not. So the likes of Chris Hughton and Aitor Karanka, who have not applied, are ruled out." Great! So now we are ruling out potentially good candidates because we are not prepared to approach them. Doh!

Its a valid point and I would love the club to appoint Hughton as the new manager, however I do not think it would bode well for us to start chasing the likes of Hughton if he clearly is not interested in the club, He has the chance of applying for the job like everyone else , obviously he is sadly not interested.

Yes they met and discussed the vision but they didn’t interview loads of lower league German coaches to see who had the best ideas And if it all went tits up because of Wagners lack of experience of the English leagues, which is arguably why we are where we are now, no doubt some will say we should have gone for Hughton. As someone has said, perhaps BAME has something to do with it as well? We have a new DOF who possibly knows the one we want but we have this procedure to go through first.

Could pop over to Dortmund, see who's putting the cones out this morning and get the press conference lined up for Thursday.Seriously though, Wagner and Jan were approached, courted, sounded out...I'm not disagreeing with PP stance (and not bothered about Karanka, Hughton etc) but at the same time if we really did want someone then go find him and sell the idea.. you do wonder if the word in football is we are a basket case now.

Our work has been ‘head hunting’ for a position having advertised openly for it and got limited interest. Ironically, just because you approach people doesn’t mean that they will be interested in joining. I know we waved lots of cash and incentives (way above market standards) at various people and they all still said no because people were concerned about our stability as a company after lots of people have left in the last 12 months. I don’t see Town as any different at the moment. So the question is who is brave/desperate/stupid enough to want to take on Town at this point in time?

You are assuming that the person who interviews best gets the job . What makes you assume this ? Actually im sorry for my use of English . The word i was grasping for wasnt assuming, it was guessing . Why are all these guessers popping up on the internet all of a sudden making out they know all about the inner workings of a professional football club ?

We tracked Jan for 3 years and appointed without an interview - what a shambles that turned out to be! I'm happy for the club to interview as long as they ask the right questions and of course make the right decision! I suppose we won't know if any decision is right or wrong until we see the outcome on the pitch. All I know is that we needed a change and we are getting one - unless of course they appoint Hudson which will be more of the same in m opinion I'm afraid.

Two completely different points:
Doesn't the Rooney rule suggest that you might find a better candidate via the interview process ?
Owen Coyle... didn't he once suggest he was too good to have to be interviewed when he applied for the Town job ? Deluded man!
