I just wanted to create a thread with a list of potential free agents we could sign to help the new man get us out of this mess. This is mainly for potless to look at tbh
Players who are free agents who could do a job for us
Danny Simpson Hartem Ben arfa Steven defour Wilfred bony Bakary sako Joe ledley Martin Olsson LEFT BACK Lewis holtby Jonathan biabiany Gary hooper Ben marshall Josh mcheachran Lazar markovic Markel susaeta
I get some of these will be on big bucks but surely worth a decent contract until January or the end of the season

How many of them would you want in the trenches with you? Absolutely. Imo we have had too many of this "type". These would be the last players I would want in a struggle

I can't believe some of them are free agents, Gary Hooper? The guy has scored a sackful of goals.

BUT how many games was he available for us in the last 12 months? He'd be brilliant for someone if fit but there's obviously a problem there?

what's the deal with Josh mceachran? not seen much of him in years, could he add a bit of playmaking to our midfield? is he not up to this level or is it more application?

Either way - we ain't signing them! Olsson however - worth a punt for me - we're desperate!

Josh mceachran was the only name on the list that would be of interest to me. Remember John Terry raving about his potential when he was first coming through at Chelsea. Think he picked up an injury at Brentford and was out for a while. Don't know if that hampered his progress? Did look a player though. If he still has the appetite and right attitude then maybe worth a short contract. The rest of the list are either past it, injury prone, high maintenance or just plain shite.

Not sure we can expect a 20 year old to play to a consistently high standard for 40 matches though. Need another LB at least as competition and/or cover.

I said on another thread, one out one in apparently and the best fit for the recent one is Bakary Sako. Knows this league, powerful and can score a goal or two. Great player and I’d be trying him out of the whole list.

Shinji Okazaki is now a free agent as (second division) Malaga were unable to register him (and a few others) without going over their salary cap.
He's a grafter and will be a good signing for somebody, but wages probably an issue for many suitors.

If he isn't fit how long would it be before he got up to full fitness? If he is for how long would it take to get match fit? Would he be able to sustain say 3 games on the trot? I get where you are coming from I think most of us rated him and we have an emotional connection.. But I'd be amazed if it happened

Defour has signed for Royal Antwerp according to news reports. Not that we'd have signed him anyway.

Whether he accept that type of deal is another matter Thing is, if you have a family to house and mouths to feed (and I'm not saying that he has), would you risk going on a "pay-as-you-play" contract, especially if there's no chance of you being a first team regular because you're so injury-prone? I'm sorry but I wouldn't touch him with a barge-pole; he milked us for the last two seasons.
