Nigel Adkins will do for me, too. Yes, it's painful to be "snubbed" by the Cowleys (who may or may not just be getting a better offer from Wednesday).There's a strong case for saying that we don't need an exciting, new, slightly risky project with head coaches who have managed brilliantly but only in the lower leagues. It could be exciting. It could be brilliant. But it could also take them a while.
If they don't want the challenge that we clearly represent, we're better off with an experienced, old' hand who isn't phased by that challenge.
I think we should acknowledge what the the new chairman is trying to do, in very difficult circumstances.

I think for a longer terms view the Cowleys could be a good option, but stll some degree of risk. Adkins would be about as safe a pair of hands as we could want right now and to me would tick most boxes. And he is English, is that matters. And northern. if that matters  'Nigel Adkins Barmy Army' works as well. |

We need stability, experience and pragmatism at this moment in time. |

I think a couple of managers back (between Robins and Powell?) there were rumours concerning Adkins, but I think he was way out of our league at the time. How times have changed when he is not bloody good enough!

Barring Hughton (who I don’t think would have come anyway) I think Adkins is the safest choice on the list of candidates.
Like others have said we need to steady the ship. I’d be happy with 12th at the end of the season, considering the start we’ve had. Long term the Cowley’s may have been the better option, but are unproven at this level.

If they’ve snubbed us for more money fair play won’t mock them for that but do t expect any “hope it works out for them” etc. I hope it blows up in their face and they get blinded by all those mobile phone lights and boil to death in the culdron 🤣

Huddersfield lad, 12 goals last season for an average side. Not an inspiring signing but could be a shrewd one. Having said that, if he’s the only business we get done before the deadline then there’ll be a lot of unhappy town fans Be a familiar face for Nigel Adkins when he starts... I hope it is as backed him as soon as Jan was sacked. Plus called it on 7 August on Summer Transfer Thread so I can make out I’m ITK 😉🤪 |

a friend of mine said he was doing very good work at Hull before the Allams decided they didn't want to pay him anymore. I think a known quantity with Championship experience might not be sexy or progressive (whatever that means) but it's the kind of manager this team needs right now. We tried the cockney brothers and it sounded like we prepared to make an expensive gamble on them, the borussia dortmund b-coach thing has been tapped out to fuck, Stendel will probably turn us down .. sometimes a 2nd or 3rd choice candidate might end up being the best one.

During Hoyle’s time as chairman experience almost became a dirty word. All this young and hungry business. Thing is if a manager works long enough he has failures. Even David Wagner could now be damaged goods! Cowleys will have bad times, it won’t all be fawning fans and promotion parades. I think people forget that experience counts for something. Trying to get a manager in before he ‘fails’ isn’t necessarily the best policy.
