12-12-2021 Women’s FA cup (3rd round)
Huddersfield Town Women 3 v Loughborough Lightning 1 (Sanderson 48’ - Elford 89’ - Sanderson 90+3’ )
And so the Girls march on to Monday’s 4th round draw (Talksport 7pm) and once again put the men’s team to shame showing how it’s done by scoring Late and not conceding Late...(Take note Corberan by any chance please)
Huddersfield Town Women Development Squad also through to the next round of their competition with a good 4-2 win away at Durham...
Again congratulations to both Ladies teams, and thanks for giving this Town fan (Westie) some Christmas footy cheer that the guys team seem totally incapable of doing !

Could have really gone either way!
Town dominated the first half but missed a couple of great chances, so it was level at the break. We got the goal we deserved early in the second half, but as soon as Loughborough equalised from a clever chipped free kick, the game really opened up and our play become more erratic, searching for the winner. They had as many good chances as us, including a goalmouth scramble I'm still not sure how we kept out! Absolute elation at the second, the third was just a bonus.
I usually only get to see Town away, and today was my first trip to Storthes Hall. 2 o'clock kick offs might not be so bad, but trying to drive up that narrow road to the ground when scores of parents in 4x4s are trying to leave with their kids who'd played that morning was an interesting experience...

Domination 1st half 2nd half we looked a little nervy.

Huddersfield v Everton in the 4th round of the FA cup. This should be played at the stadium. Watch the contrast in levels from a club in the wsl to our girls.

See they’re 9th in the WSL will probably be a bridge too far but non the less still a great experience for the Huddersfield Town Women and gotta have hope... As you say Kenny, it should be at the stadium, not sure of the dates of that round, but probably no rugby, and hopefully not a clash of fixtures with The HTAFC guys team at home the same day...

Town men’s team play Stoke City in a Friday 7.45pm match on 28-1-2022 so enough time for the pitch to be made up to standard for the girls I’d imagine... Not sure what the club will do, but I guess a worry could be the state of play with the bloody Covid new variant pandemic by then, but hopefully they can get it under control as soon as possible without impeding the footy, both for The Lads and The Lassies too much...

19-12-2021... Women’s League Cup (Round 2)
Loughborough Lightning 1 v Huddersfield Town Women 3 (Montgomery 29’ - Elford 51’ - Mallin 66’ )
Well maybe Lighting really does strike twice indeed... Town draw Loughborough twice in two different cup competitions, beat them twice by 3-1 and Elford scores twice in a week against The Lightning - at least both games weren’t at the same ground or it might become spookily coincidental !
There are a few minutes highlights on Huddersfield Town Women TV and it looked a very entertaining match, Loughborough Ladies will feel unlucky at hitting the woodwork twice (Lightning striking again) though Town did also and fortune was on our side when one of our goals nicked in off the post.. a good end to end match and yet another success for The HTAFC girls, coupled with the Lads doing the business yesterday it’s been a great footy weekend for all at Huddy Town and it’s all very nice and enjoyable in the week running up to Christmas...
Well done to the Terriers and Terrieresse’s at Huddersfield Town !

Town ladies were worth the win. Bloody cold though.

Town ladies were worth the win. Bloody cold though. A good way to keep warm ilson is have some whisky 🥃 disguised in a 500 ml diet irn brew bottle ! No use if one is driving though but if not then fine... Not a problem at Huddersfield Town first team games with England’s very adult and sensible licensing rules, but hey ho - so so very different in Scotland as I found out at a Dumbarton game in August ! Fortunately for me, it was two friendly stewards that gave me the option to drink the diet irn ‘brewery’ And bin the bottle and proceed thru the turnstiles to the match.. It however might have been a different outcome if it was ‘L’ division at the gates, however I did use the ‘brewery’ in The Wineshed at a Clachnacuddin Highland League Match in October and appreciated it in cold and wet weather that day. If your wondering what The Wineshed 🍷 is, it’s the equivalent of The Cowshed at Clachnacuddin !

Fair summary (especially on the weather!). For the first time in four games I've seen, I was a bit disappointed with the girl's attitude at times. Quite a few instances of very poor body language (at least) when team mates made errors and more dissent to officials than I think there should be at that level (although of course accenuated by the small crowd making everything audible). Didn't seem the happiest of teams despite another win.

From the whispers I'm hearing it seems the fa cup game against Everton in the cup is going to be played at the JS stadium.
Tough game for the girls in their first game back at the stadium against plays like toni Duggan and co

I'd agree that the liner on the dugout side took a bit of stick though...

Everton game definitely being played at the JSS / Great, and so it should be! I know we're gonna get smashed, but I hope Everton put out a full side. Really looking forward to seeing the likes of Christiansen, Duggan, MacIver, Anvegard et al at the JSS.
