(Sun) 09-4-2023... FA Women’s League - (Northern Premier League)
Huddersfield Town Women 0 v AFC Flyde Women 1
So the poor form of The Town Women continues with a controversial late loss to Flyde Women who due to that leapfrog Town Women who drop to 8th in the table but still have a game in hand over Flyde Women...
Next up is Stoke Ladies away on Sunday 16th April (KO 2 pm)

Looks like the pish poor standard of officiating has seeped it’s way into the Women’s game as well sadly ! ☹️

I’ll not pardon myself for sounding like a broken record, but when you have a lot of money sloshing round a sport, corruption is rarely far behind. The WSL is getting pump primed on a regular basis. Is that for the purposes of equality, or is this another vehicle for the TV & betting companies to exploit?

Town seem to have been on the wrong end of a shed load of decisions this season. Along with losing key players it probably means they just need the season to end, retain their position in this division and rebuild for next year. Hopefully with some support from the new men's owners.

I’d sound a tad hypocritical if I supported them buying success.

Some observers and attendees that I’ve spoken to recently suggest the manager is not up to the job, barking orders and generally confusing the women with instructions.
It would be really good to see the new ownership build bridges with the women’s team, the women’s game in general is on the up and for once, Town shouldn’t be left behind. It wouldn’t take much to really help them grow and compete.

I was speaking to a lass who goes to every ladies' game and she though the men's team already supplied them with kit, loaned them their coaches, gave them use of the gym and hydrotherapy. When I told her otherwise she seemed genuinely surprised.

At Watford on Friday they were advertising their women's team, who play at the same level as Town, on the boards throughout the match and were selling it over the PA before the game and at HT. How much effort/cost was that to them? Town are too bothered about the well past it's sell by date dizzy penalties. Still, players who have left can look forward to being on the cover of the programme on International Women's Day 2024.

However, how long do you put up with begging for scraps before you call it out? Especially when people wrongly presume that you're getting a lot more support than you are, as shown by Mosher's post. It's also a massive sliding door moment right now, and as it stands, Town aren't just missing the train, they're not even in the taxi on the way to the station.

(Sun) 16-4-2023... FA Women’s League - (Northern Premier League)
Stoke City Women 3 v Huddersfield Town Women 3 (Ibbiston 78’ - Hlume 83’ - Fields 90’)
And so The HTAFC Women will be travelling back up the road happy as Larry after a monumental comeback from being dead and buried in this match with an incredible three goals in the final twelve minutes and they pick up a valuable point and a huge boost and feeling of wellbeing after that comeback of all comebacks...
That was the last trip on the road for the season so I hope the Ladies have a well earned bucket on the bus back to Yorkshire !
Two home games now to complete the league season and next up is Derby County Ladies next Sunday at Stroth’s Hall (KO 2pm)

(Sun) 23-4-2023... FA Women’s League - (Northern Premier League)
Huddersfield Town Women 3 v Derby County Women 3... (OG 15’ - Mason 65’ - Sanderson 86’ )
So Town Women who found themselves 0-2 down after eleven minutes contrived to carve out yet another fantastic comeback to lead 3-2 with only four minutes to play - but sadly were done by a Derby sucker punch in injury time (90+2) and yet more controversy by officials as HTAFC Women are saying that the equaliser was definitely handball by the Derby scorer...
So The Town Women stay in 9th in advance of their final league match of the season next Sunday at home to Loughborough Lightning who prop up the league table -
Depending on other results HTAFC Women could finish 6th - 7th - 8th - 9th - or 10th so plenty to play for and support The Huddersfield Town Women in their final league match next Sunday 30th April at The Stafflex Arena (KO @ 2pm) and for those who will be too nervous to watch Cardiff v Huddy Town on the TV this could be a good diversion for those like maself who get far too nervous about dramatic finishes for the lads first team ! 😉

It's a national disgrace how the WSL have skewed it in favour of the PL teams. Manure starting in the 2nd division, Belles being screwed, the restructuring based on finance, it's all been bollocks. When I first started watching the women's game part of the reason was Yorkshire being represented so well by the Belles. My "step daughter"** wanted to play for them. As the article says: at one time any young girl up here would have wanted to play for them, they were inspiring to a lot of young Yorkshire lasses. **Step daughter is only "" bracketed because I never actually married her mother, still see the daughter, despite being split from the mother over ten years.

A Yorkshire club with a decent history - Hope they improve a bit and rise again... But not at the expense too much of our HTAFC Women’s Team !

Totally bizarre story here from The Women’s game in Bonnie Scotland... In the Scottish Women’s Cup semi final at Hampden Park after 71’ minutes Celtic coach Fran Alanso decided to take off Amy Gallagher and replace her wi American Kit Loferski a normal enough scenario in any given match - However eagle eyed officials spotted that she was wearing an earring an illegal infringement in the women’s game up here (not sure if it’s totally across the board or not) and so with Gallacher off and up the tunnel to the showers the game raged on as Hoops staff tried to remove the earring but to no avail. So after five minutes they gave up and had to ‘substitute the substitute’ and the records will show that she played a part in the match without being on the pitch whatsoever in what must surely be the least impacted substitute in the history of The Women’s game - And I’d imagine that The Celtic Women’s team will have a wry smile the next time they hear the song ‘Substitute’ by The Who !!! Apt that her name is Kit when she clearly wasn’t Kitted out properly and she with that earring offence she certainly wasn’t erring on the right side of caution ! (Hope I’ve got that earring/erring spelling correct to avoid confusion !) 😊 The incident had no impact on the scorline and Celtic held onto their 1-0 lead at that point to proceed to a cup final clash v Rangers Women... (Sun) 30-4-2023... FA Women’s League - (Northern Premier League)
Huddersfield Town Women 3 v Loughborough Lightning Ladies 1 (Sanderson 15’ - 31’ - Mason 90’+4)
And with WBA Women, Liverpool Feds, And Stoke Women losing to Derby, Burnley and Forest Women respectively HTAFC Ladies jump from 9th to finish 6th in the top half ahead of AFC Flyde Women on Goal Difference - A creditable finish given that HTAFC Women lost key players to rival clubs during the season...
I think HTAFC Women still have to play The Sheffield & Hallemshire cup final and can hopefully end the season with silverware 🏆
But for today - A fantastic day for Huddersfield Town fans with the guys and women both winning well ! 👍

If only HTAFC itself were so supportive.

Wonder if our new owner will support them as women's soccer is huge in the USA. Think would benefit both teams having stronger links.

I've never really understood why DH didn't choose to improve the links with the womens team. He appears (IMHO) extremely keen on projecting himself & protecting the DH reputation but anything you read about the HTFC / HTWFC relationship seems to portray HTFC badly. Seems an opportunity lost to me.

Not really the right thread, but just wondered if Convictatthemac was going to any of the ladies' World Cup games and could give those of us interested in the women's game some local insight to how the event is going? I really hope I've remembered the right username for our Antipodean brother

Still, players who have left can look forward to being on the cover of the programme on International Women's Day 2024. I have absolutely zero interest in the women's game and probably never will regardless of whether its Town or whoever. Its brilliant that young women are now being encouraged to play and can join teams etc but I do find it irritating the way its continually rammed down peoples throats. The insistence on televising games and having them on prime time despite the viewing figures probably being in 3 figures at best just winds me up and of course we are all paying for it via our Sky subscription. As does their insistence on showing the scores and tables in the app above the lower leagues for example. So if Town want to support the women's team a little then great but lets concentrate on priority number one which is the football club and please don't start ramming it down fans throats and making up faux interest and don't just assume Town fans will automatically be interested in the women's team. I'm aware its possibly not a fashionable point of view but I'm sure its a very popular one, and no I'm not sexist. Promotion of the Giants in the Davy era used to annoy me for similar reasons.
