Depends who gets it surely? If it’s cowley or Adkins good, if it’s Harris then in my opinion it’s a shit appointment and I’ve a right to say so. Stop taking the high moral ground happy clappers. Who's 'happy clapping'? Once again for the seemingly umpteenth time point out one poster that has been happy with what's gone on. It's just a silly phrase people throw out when they can't think of a sensible reply.

Out yourself Phil H or relative of Phil H. Who is it cowley or Harris? Wow, so if I express positive / hopeful views then I’m either Phil H or a relative of his.....? Exactly my point regarding this constant sniping! A Director of Pure Business Group perhaps 🤔

No, I switched my name for a few days because I was getting increasingly hacked off with the lack of an appointment for such an extended time, and with Mooy keeping busy with a pair of tweezers removing the Brighton’s bench splinters from his arse rather than being the maestro of our team. Your comment about our remaining star players is stupid to say the least. We’re in real danger of doing a Sunderland or worse. I say this as someone who’s been going to Town games for 50 years through thick and thin and I don’t need your sarky and rose tinted remarks. Now bore off yourself. I see that you've changed your name again from "Division 3 Here We Come!", reverted to a previous one; I guess that you must have become a bit touchy over it? Yes, I have over 50 years service too, but your accusations and complaining are going way over the top. Last time we appointed it happened in a flash - and it was the wrong one. Was that what you wanted again? This time the club/chairman goes about it at a more leisurely pace in order to make the right decision, doing his due diligence, and the forum/fans erupt. Damned if you do, damned if you don't it would seem... Tracking Siewert for 2 years is not exactly “it happened in a flash” is it? If you’re referring to Hudson, he’s also been with us for years and part of the succession planning. As for my temp name, it’s also a reference to the revered Webber saying we have the set up of a third division club. And Depoitre who helped to keep us up with some magnificent efforts against Man U and Chelsea said a similar thing. We need to stop living in happy clapper land and take on board what observers say and fix it properly. I’m more than happy to stay in the Championship forever or even drop to League One for a season, but we cannot continue this poor decision making. Hopefully Phil can fix it, perhaps he’s got an almost impossible task...but he won’t convince many if he appoints Harris or Parkinson. Even appointing the Cowleys is a risk not worth taking in my opinion, just look at what’s happening at Stoke.

Have you been to a game? The fans have been absolutely superb in the last 12 months despite the dross that’s been served up.A team not fit enough to play 90 minutes and haven’t won a game in months! If people want to have a dig on a forum rather than at the ground then fair enough imo. They were happy to take the plaudits when doing well, they’ll have to accept some criticism when they aren’t. Us the fans are probably the only positive thing about the club at the moment. Don't think I've seen Any other team with a run like ours have the match day backing we do.

I don't know whether Harris will be a good appointment or not, IF he gets the job I won't pre judge, he will get my backing as manager and given a fair chance to turn things around, that doesn't make me or anyone else a 'happy clapper'. if we start getting results I doubt anyone will be complaining.

Thing is town have plenty of scope to satisfy me by this appointment. I’d be happy with Adkins, pleasantly surprised by Cowleys, fairly happy by Rowett even, ambivalent on Stendel and very disappointed but not surprised by Harris. Of the names linked only Harris would piss me off utterly.

Yes, I get to most of the games but missed Cardiff this season and agree, at the games, the core fans are awesome. What I’m getting at is the constant snipes from keyboard warriors at every move of the club. These same ‘fans’ will likely whinge about any new appointment should we lose the first game and be back to chairman out / sack the board etc etc...... Criticism, absolutely, but not the above. That’s simply destructive. You're wasting your time trying to argue subtleties on here. The majority understand you aren't criticising people for raising concerns or complaing about about specific things. The thickos who don't, also seem incapable of appreciating this even after a post that clarifies this. Unfortunately, us perceived 'happy clappers' not only have to be thoroughly cheesed off with how the football is going, we also have to put up with these brain dead spanners sniping at bloody everything!

Do you think he isn’t trying to turn it around? that’s quite a claim, what’s the reason? Imagine a club which was in the Premier League merely four months ago (the premier league, which the whole planet watches).... It’s new boss then asset strips the team and doesn’t re-invest... Then if he were to appoint a third division manager, or one from a small and mediocre hoofball club tucked away in an insignificant corner of London, or a failed one that’s just escaped collapse... Any objective person would surely question the intentions and competence of the new boss and management team of the club that was in the Premier League just 120 days ago. I take it you are just ignoring the cost of 2 years in the greedy league, the FACT that we had no offers for our 'better' players and therefore had an ongoing very large wages bill already in place here, at the very least till X Mas?? What is it about all these circumstances that are not the chairman's fault that you find hard to understand or so easy to ignore with your conspiracy theory? Our huge piles of premier cash came in one door and went straight out the other you pay a fucking huge premium just to be there, it's a fallacy that you can pile up the cash unless you don't pay premier wages and you don't spend anything on fees.

Phil said "We don't need to sell anyone" this statement means we had the funds to keep these players and pay the wages.
So, in reality, we now have a huge war chest of cash to spend in the next window, he promised one in, one out. Now we are told there's no money, so what's changed? Why lie? If he wants the confidence and support of the fans then back up your words. Don't string fans along otherwise people will start questioning your integrity and motives, especially after whats happened to recent clubs (Bury, Blackpool, Bolton) a lot of fans are now more sceptical of new owners.
I am not saying his motives are bad or he will mess the club up but he is certainly on probation to prove himself and for that reason, I will hold judgement on him.

The way I view it is that yes we didn’t have to sell anyone, but that therefore took up our budget for the season, hence the lack of expensive arrivals. When one left that then became available to bolster the playing staff. The loans won’t have been cheap deals, and although we’ve recouped 20m + in transfer fees that money will be to safeguard us the next couple of seasons so our playing budget (wages) doesn’t have to drop too dramatically and plunge us back to permanent lower table obscurity. (Yes I’m aware we’ve had a poor start, but at the moment that’s all it is) Just my opinion.

One of the problems facing PH is whoever he appoints some fans will be happy with, others will not be, supposing it is Adkins, very mixed views on here towards him, then depending how things pan out one group will be saying "Told you so" either because he's a success or otherwise, that will apply to every candidate.

I fully agree, Phil is in a thankless situation right now, I do genuinely understand that. A good manager would very likely have stopped Mooy moving and perhaps Lowe too, and might have sorted out Billing and VLP.

Not Phil's fault but it is an issue he has to deal with as he said "might take 3 windows". Asset stripping inferences is obviously bollox as we got more for a player or players who did 'not' want to be here under any circumstances. Selling players who don't want to play for you for a good profit is not asset stripping, the FACT you have no time to replace them was an unfortunate circumstance, not planned. We could not bring in the premier League loans that were promised simply because the obvious sales and freed up wages never happened. Still can't work out how some cannot comprehend this?

Both Hodgkinson and Winter said before the sales of those last three, that we didn't need to sell anybody (costs covered by parachute payments & contractual wage reductions). Winter said we working on five deals before PH's Q & A We brought in Elphick, Brockhorn, Koroma, Brown & Grabara on loan and paid less than a million in transfer fees (wages will have been nowhere near those we sold/released). Mbenza was already here and Chalobah arrived after Mooy left. You can defend the club all you want and given that you've already had several four letter rants defending Phil, it would suggest that you're either related or an associate of his, but it doesn't alter the fact that the summer transfer window was another disaster.

So what’s your moan? Said working on five deals, brought five in that you’ve listed. Then Mooy went....and in came Chalobah in a 1 in 1 out move despite the lateness in the window. Then VLP went and we can’t bring anyone in until January because of the illegal restraint of trade that the transfer market enforces blocking free movement of workers throughout Europe. What more could they do. Is the real complaint that the players aren’t as good as you expected? That’s always the risk, we spent tens of millions last year doing the exact same thing, so it could be argued this summer window has already been an improvement on that, especially as we don’t really know how these players will turn out yet...looks to me an ok choice...Elphick replaces Zanka and slots above Stankovic so we have proven quality at this level to step in. Brown seems like he won’t be any worse than Lowe to any significant degree, and be better, Chalobah whilst different has already shown plenty of goal threat both directly and indirectly. Grabera is a more than adequate replacement for a keeper that wanted out...definitely a better shot stopper. That looks a pretty good hit rate so far.

......As I think he will be this weekend. Is there any danger of us, the fans, actually getting behind him, the team, the chairman and the whole bloody club? I, for one, am finding the constant digs at the club, especially at the chairman and those working to turn this around rather tiring, extremely ill informed, rather pointless and simply adding to the problems at the club. I’ve every faith that the appointment will be a good one and welcomed by the vast majority so FFS, lets use this news to get behind HTAFC from top to bottom and play our part in taking this club forward again. Enjoy your weekends all..... Afternoon Phil. Your posting history suggest beyond all reasonable doubt that you are - and that’s absolutely fine! If you are going to masquerade as a fan and refer to yourself in the third person all the time, then that’s a little odd, no? You’ll find that a lot of people fully understand your situation, and support your efforts, but you won’t generally find them posting on the web, where it’s easier to let of steam (and our fans really do need to let off steam) You know this, and should be professional enough to not react, in my humble opinion. The Premier League was a poisoned chalice, and the fallout requires us to cut cloth rapidly, or go the way of so many other clubs who have trodden the same path down through the leagues. If we could win a game or two.... Look forward to seeing who our new gaffer is - you have a good weekend too.

The reason for my post was in relation to the fact that the poster I quoted continues his aggressive stance that we didn't have time to bring replacements in, which is not true imo. Regardless of that, three of the signings we've made are deemed not good enough to start (the Brown I'm referring to is Reece, not Jaden) and after last years disastrous transfer dealings the last thing we needed was to be signing players with potential. We needed and still need players for the here and now!
