You can choose to believe what you like but full of shyte is a bit rich To be fair Maynard is usually spot on. 2nd only to me. Unfortunately, thanks to some pedant wanting to score points about the difference between Wagner being the first person to identify a player rather than the one having the final say, Maynard may not be posting anything again đ.

Which would be really sad . Let's hope he changes his mind and returns.

Anybody else get the feeling that Maynard is Josh Marsh? He seems to know a lot about our recruitment policy and he registered on here round about the same time that Marsh was appointed as Chief Scout.
Could be bollox of course.

Considering the dogs abuse Marsh took on here during 'the Great Witch Hunt' (that's what I'm calling pre-season) from posters that struggle to string a sentence together, let alone challenge a point of detail, I'd be very surprised if he survived that only to depart because of Cyril Sneer's* pedantic pop. *More apt under the circumstances me thinks. And nostalgic for some of certain age.

Best way to scout players? Go out and watch âem. Watch what they do when their team is under the cosh, itâs chucking it down and blowing a gale...... as it is today down here. AFC Wimbledon v Doncaster or Crawley v Port Vale for me..... havenât made my mind up yet. Unlikely to see anyone that will catch the eye, but you never know. General principal of above post makes plenty of sense and highlights an obvious weakness in recruitment policy at Town. You need to assess a players character and backbone before you consider signing him.Iknow some clubs in the past have just watched players in away games to get a better idea of how a player copes with being out of his comfort zone. You get the impression this wasnt a consideration when the likes of Kongolo/Mbenza/Zank/sabiri/Diakhaby were bought.

I think the club had seen enough of Kongolo when he came on loan to make the judgement. I didn't see anyone complaining when he was signed permanently? Zanka was ok in our first premier league season aswell. The rest have just been piss poor signings by the club.

How much is the clubs/various managers fault and how much is down to the characters of those players is debatable. I tend to side on it being more down to the players given their approach recently to be 'playing for a move', they might get a short contract with crap money in a second division somewhere if the last few months was a marker on their transfer market interest?

You would think that agents and hangers on would advise playing in every game possible and put in some performances in the "shop window".... Can we get a refund, let's hope we kept the receipts? đŽđŽđŽ

Hope we are getting our business done early. It would be great to have those players leave on 1st January and be replaced during the first week.

Although he's from Newcastle isn't he, so he may want to move further up north. Taken from the Peterborough Telegraph.. Peterborough United have a back-up plan in place in the unlikely event of Marcus Maddison leaving the club in January. Posh director of football Barry Fry made the revelation during a question-and-answer session at the clubâs annual general meeting today Fry is confident no club will bid ÂŁ2.5 million, an offer that would trigger Maddisonâs release clause, as the 26 year-old is out of contract at the end of the season anyway. Fry did confirm some clubs had made offers under that figure - Championship side Middlesbrough are one of them - by there is no chance Maddison will leave unless his buyout valuation is met. Fry said: âWe are not interested in selling anyone in January. We want to add to the squad not weaken it. âThe one issue we could have is Marcus, because if someone meets his valuation we canât stop him talking to the bidding club and he could then leave. âI donât believe for one minute that will happen though. It makes no sense to pay ÂŁ2.5 million for someone you could sign for nothing in five months time. âSome clubs have made cheeky offers, but they wonât get Marcuson on the cheap. âAnd Marcus is happy to stay with us. If he does leave us, he would like it to be with the club promoted to the Chammpionship. âAnd rest assured the club has a plan B in place should anyone leave. We have identified the players we want should anyone

£2.5m seems like a bargain in todays market. And he's left footed as well.. Cowley keeps mentioning we don't have any of them at the moment! Also, I wonder if we would be in with a shout in getting Che Adams on loan? And more importantly a set-piece specialist, that's something we really lack.

I've started thinking set piece specialism is a myth. Many players have come with a reputation of putting a cracking ball in (e.g. Pritchard) but I always end up disappointed!

Heâs nothing special all round but heâs deadly at a set piece.

At 26 and never played higher than L1 I wouldnât be splashing out ÂŁ2.5m on Maddison if we can get him for free at the end of the season then he might possibly be worth a punt but nothing more than that imo.Now donât get me wrong heâll produce more in half a game than the some current wasters weâre saddled with ,but then again all heâll have to do is get a sweat on. Having read through this thread just about every player mentioned is from L1 or below,is that because DC knows the league? I get that most are just hearsay and rumours but if thatâs where we shopping thatâs where weâll end up,like Ipswich.Surely we have learned something from the last transfer window where we ended signing dummies who arenât good enough for this league let alone the league we were in at the time? If we havenât weâd be better off playing our own youngsters who so far have done pretty well.
