At 26 and never played higher than L1 I wouldn’t be splashing out £2.5m on Maddison if we can get him for free at the end of the season then he might possibly be worth a punt but nothing more than that imo.Now don’t get me wrong he’ll produce more in half a game than the some current wasters we’re saddled with ,but then again all he’ll have to do is get a sweat on. Having read through this thread just about every player mentioned is from L1 or below,is that because DC knows the league? I get that most are just hearsay and rumours but if that’s where we shopping that’s where we’ll end up,like Ipswich.Surely we have learned something from the last transfer window where we ended signing dummies who aren’t good enough for this league let alone the league we were in at the time? If we haven’t we’d be better off playing our own youngsters who so far have done pretty well. Have you seen his stats for that level? Grant wasn’t a bad coup for L1 was he.. now nobody is saying let’s do all our business from L1, but if you can pick out some of the top performing players that are young and hungry, we may just start to build a team we can be proud of. It’s Preston’s model and they “haven’t ended up like Ipswich” have they? We could go abroad but our recent track record has proven that would be a mistake.. they have to adapt to a foreign language, foreign surroundings etc. Looking at players like Maddison in L1 that are relatively cheap, with ability coincided with some PL loans would be a very suitable operating model for the position we are currently in, I believe.

Yes I’ve seen his stats and impressive they are,I’m more questioning why at 26 which certainly isn’t young he hasn’t already been snapped up? As for Grant an absolutely top signing for next to nothing however we’ve also signed Brown,Bockhorn (lower league in another country)and Koroma who have barely featured at all so far. I’ll admit the Preston model is working pretty well at the moment, but Barnsley’s,Luton and Charltons isn’t all of whom have kept 90% of their L1 squad. As I said if we could get him on a free it might be worth a gamble,£2.5m isn’t imo.

That would be a top signing Yes it would. Looked at one point that he'd follow Sancho to the Bundesliga with Monchengladbach extremely interested. So interested in fact that their pursuit annoyed Liverpool into cancelling an arranged friendly with the German side. Thought to have a very bright future in the game and I'd love to see him bolster our attacking options for the second half of the season.

Don’t know how good this guy is. But 2.5 mil for a player out of contract in 5 months seems steep. As in all these cases the player will know which clubs are interested and how much wages they are willing to pay. Barry fry isn’t going to get the money upfront, if the club he wishes to go to his patient it’s as simple as that.

If this lad is any good, someone from the Championship will take a punt at 2.5m in January which could turn out to be our loss. Knowing Town, we’ll run the risk of nobody coming in for him in January and try get him on the cheap next summer.

I think the lad, and his agent, will be looking forward to a nice little 2.5m signing on fee in the summer.

Ronan Curtis........goal scoring left winger at Pompey has always impressed me. We need left footers, we need scorers. Mentioned him before.

They won't want the same thing happening with Brewster

Cowley today- Pretty much September 10 - the day after we came in - we identified what areas we need to strengthen.
We have complete clarity over the positions we would like to strengthen and complete clarity over the type and profile and character of players we want.
We know we need characters who are physically robust.
He highlights:
● Someone who is a set piece specialist.
●More than player to help the boys up front.

Cowley was asked about the links to Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster.
He was non-committal.
“We understand we will be linked to players.
“There’s a lot of clubs who respect Huddersfield Town and the work that me and Nicky have done.”
Danny confirms they have been in conversations with Premier League clubs

Two new wingers that can put decent balls into the box, instead of getting cut out at the first man, and a set piece specialist will do for me! Add to that cover at the back and we will be sorted.

Comes across as Pritchard could play but can't be arsed. Reading between the lines like. Off to Watford for another dose of Premier cash before they join us down here anyway.

Ask Stoke City. Their wage bill is £50 MILLION and are desperate to unload a few.

Lyle Taylor has rejected a contract at Charlton.
Worth a punt if we offload Mounie? will cost less than what we get for Mounie and on a lower wage. Him and Grant had great link up play in the past
We might not even get rid of Mounie but he's not a bad shout if we do
Also just realised, Taylor was a Concord rangers player when Cowley was manager there

Was also linked to Rangers and Brom in the summer, so we will have stiff competition too (if they are still interested, that is).

For a player you really need (which Maddison may possibly be) you sometimes have to accept going above the perceived market rate.
Set piece specialist - tick Left foot- tick Decent age - tick
Have heard he may lack the physicality for a pressing game, but only seen highlights myself, which do not give any insight in this respect.

I didn’t know he’d been at Concord though, interesting. Mind you, I saw Karlan Grant once or twice for Crawley too, and wasn’t mega impressed with him either!
