Lyle Taylor has rejected a contract at Charlton. Worth a punt if we offload Mounie? will cost less than what we get for Mounie and on a lower wage. Him and Grant had great link up play in the past We might not even get rid of Mounie but he's not a bad shout if we do Also just realised, Taylor was a Concord rangers player when Cowley was manager there According to Taylor on Twitter Charlton haven't offered him a contract extension and is bemused at Lee Bowyers claim that he's rejected a new deal.

I can't imagine Bowyer being the type to lie about something like that. Charlton fans seem to believe him over Taylor by the looks of twitter anyway. Strange situation

He lied about stamping on that guy’s head in Leeds, he’s probably lying about this as well.

Was also linked to Rangers and Brom in the summer, so we will have stiff competition too (if they are still interested, that is). The contract situation seems an odd one, you pay £2.5M for a player, that player is the same player whether he has 5 years left or 1 month. Its a negotiating game but surely the purchasing club sometimes has to look at the bigger picture and see that the player is worth £2.5M, that's less than half a Diakhaby, half a Flo and one fifth of a Mounie or Mbenza one seventh of a Kongolo. Plus probably much less in wages. I guess with contract running out though the player and agent will be expecting a juicy pay day and their chunk of the money paid out by the purchasing club. The last coveted midfielder to come from L1 was Dack who is now probably worth way over £10M. I guess a lot depends on getting rid of the shit we've accumulated, that's a lot of wages before you consider the asset value. Looking forward in seeing what Webb and the Cowleys can pull out of the hat but I fear their hands will be tide unless we can shift the crap.

having a think about possible loanees.
Richard Stearman would be a smart move IMO. Experienced at this level, and not gonna get a look in at Sheff United. Would have him as a backup centre back. as pace is a bit of an issue at the back at the moment, I'll throw Fosu-Mensah's name into the ring, but I thought he was gash for Fulham last season.
Left back is a tough one. Neil Taylor hasn't had a look in at Aston Villa for a while and would do a good job, but is their main backup option. Gaetan Bong has been out of the Brighton side for a while, but I don't know a whole lot about him. I would rather Town bought someone in that department to be honest.
Smith Rowe from Arsenal would be my number one choice for a winger.

I didn’t know he’d been at Concord though, interesting. Mind you, I saw Karlan Grant once or twice for Crawley too, and wasn’t mega impressed with him either! Clearly not a particularly good judge then!

Would you have taken Ethan Ampadu, Ollie Watkins, Ryan Woods and Matt Grimes though?

On BBC Gossip page...
Wales midfielder Joe Allen, 29, could leave Championship side Stoke City in January, although West Ham and Burnley have been put off by the £15m asking price. (Mail)
Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater, 29, could see his loan spell at Burnley cut short, with Turkish club Besiktas considering a move for the Englishman. (Burnley Express)
Both could do a job, but as we are potless...

As for Allen (I didn't realise he is under 30) I honestly think we have players in O'Brien and Baccuna that when fit / on their game, can play his role - we need creativity.

Part of me feels we will not go down if we can get rid of the group who we need to get rid of.
Maybe bring a left back in on loan to cover Brown and that's it.
Blood our own like o brien and see what happens and use the summer to build a Cowley squad.
Jan is inflated prices, don't waste whatever money we have and save it for summer.
If we can get rid of Kongolo, diakhaby, mbenza, R Brown and Bockhorn and bring in a left back I would see that as a successful window

A loan for Drinkwater would include a hefty loan fee & if we only paid half his wages that would be £50k a week. If these are the players you think we should be signing then you seriously need to reduce your expectations a lot.

They could do a job, unquestioned. We are potless though and couldn't afford them last year, let alone this, even if they'd come to Town, which they wouldn't, even if we wanted them, which we don't.

If Allen is priced at £15m then that can only mean plenty of dosh required for us to part with Mooy permanently.

We badly need brown Pritchard O’Brien etc back and fit. The lack of info on our injuries is very worrying for me

Pritchard O’Brien sounds like a great player. Very tricky player, he’s got a jump to the left, and a step to the right that no other footballer can pull off. But it’s his pelvic thrust that drives you insane.
