It’s the FA Cup on Saturday, just 48 hours away. The team will fly down tomorrow to Southampton, I assume. There’ll also be a deadline for when new players can play in it, so there’s three options: 1. Incomings are imminent, or 2. We play more-or-less the same team as yesterday, or 3. We play youngsters, plus Coleman and Campbell and Hadergjonaj. ood post and yes we are in a difficult situation but the one thing that angered me most last night was a post on here saying cowley lacked proffesiona nounce. What a stupid and disgusting comment. yes we were poor but the players some on here were slagging off the same posteres were singing there praises against Blackburn.lets see what develops but PH and the management are trying there best in the situation we find ourselves in. We are in a battle and one bad performance and some go into melt down. like you I am frustrated by events but I have full confidence we can get out of this but make no mistake it will be hard. happy new year

To aid rotation and resting key players, I'd play the unholy trio of Diakhaby, Mbenza and Kongolo along with Reece Brown (if he's still here) and anyone else deemed surplus to requirements. Make them do something to earn their crust. Let's face it, we aren't going to win the Cup anyway. Except in our worst nightmare the 'unholy trio' pick up injury's and scupper their moves. True...

Two players due at canalside this morning. That amounts to a spectacular injury list if we only have two players fit!!

Let's wait and see what state we are in come 1st Feb.
The truth is we don't know enough about the circumstances within the club. We know (broadly) who should leave, and what positions need cover. We don't know what PH / Cowley's are doing behind the scenes, nor how much money there is or which players are 'willing' to leave or interested in coming.
Sit tight and lets judge at the end of the window. The speculation will kill us otherwise.

And if we had beaten Stoke those same folk would be full of joy and saying " play offs here we come"

I just looked at TerrierTim’s previous posts to see how reliable he is. Most of them are telling Nick he’s an idiot, so he’s definitely got some common sense about him.

I agree with the rest of your post, I'm sure the Cowley's and PH are working hard to bring in decent players and 3 or 4 decent signings in January will lift us all, I'm confident we will pull away from the bottom.

Jeez MT...It must have been a heavy festive period I'm not actually suggesting that things would improve. This is simply a game where we have to go through the motions of fielding eleven players who won't adversely affect our 13 or 14 squad of league players, either through injury or mental condition (scarred enough as they probably already are). We just need to name players to pull on the kit, so the wantaways would fit the bill, other than if they were to be injured as Codd correctly points out. In any other season I'd be completely in favour of fielding our best side to go as far as we can, but this year it is clear that we are embroiled in a relegation dogfight with the trapdoor looming ever closer given two of the last four results. If anything, we got the last four results the wrong way around - would have been far better off losing to Forest and Blackburn but beating Boro and Stoke. We're still in a right bloody mess.

Manager and team failed to take advantage of a poor ref and linos. Stoke did. The word professional now covers a great deal of grey areas...
At 2 1 up that was the time to get Campbell on, get the ball into their half everytime and get ugly. Use the situation and tension to our advantage, slowing the game and terminal passing into a packed middle area with a daft ref was asking for it. We got it.
When you are given a gift as we were yesterday you have to take advantage. Manager and team failed, we watched it happen.

I agree we need to be resting our first teamers. Those who I would not rest are Hogg (he's suspended for the next 2 league games anyway), Grabara, Simpson, Chalobah, Mounie. I'd deffo give some kids a crack at it such as Daly and Edmunds Green. The next league game is more important than a cup competition we will not win.
