I'n guessing 3 of the tv games will be us, Brum & Wrexham Would imagine MK Dongs v Wimbledon and Northampton v Kettering will be in contention too.

The FA Cup has never been regionalised. The League Cup was for a spell. That's where you're wrong, the first 2 rounds used yo be regionalised, I'm talking 80's and 90's here. It definitely did.

There’s folk on Twitter going on about “Spudman” - don’t you have jacket potato vans up in Yorkshire, or is that a Midlands thing?

Great draw for Chesham v Lincoln and Sutton v Brummies. Two more tv contenders.......Sutton to win the replay at St Andrews. I thought replays had gone this year from Rd 1?

Sutton v Birmingham will 100% be first pick.
After that, there's plenty to choose from.
Tamworth v Town Chesham v Lincoln Franchise v Wimbledon Southend v Charlton Woking v Morecambe Curzon Ashton v Mansfield
It wouldn't surprise me though if whichever one of BBC/ITV doesn't get Sutton v Birmingham goes for Harrogate v Wrexham instead.

Hopefully not on TV. This game wouldn't be quite as appealing with a 12pm Sunday kick off

I'n guessing 3 of the tv games will be us, Brum & Wrexham I’d much rather watch a ‘derby’ game over a potential (lower league) banana skin. Bristol Rovers vs Weston-super-Mare MK Dons vs AFC Wimbledon Northampton vs Kettering TV only care about viewing figures though so it’ll probably be Town, Wrexham and Birmingham, like you say.

Crap draw, why it's not regionalised in the first 2 rounds like it used to be I do not know. Art, if it makes you feel any better, I think Tamworth would have probably been treated as Northern under a regionalised structure. They look to be from the first 16 Northern-ish ties from the Non League teams (and surely they'd have had to put 24 League teams in each section). If not certainly 40 more Southern sides than them.

I'm sure Walsall were in the Southern section for the first round of the league cup & moved into the Northern section to level it up & draw us.

MK Dons v Wimbledon might have been a nailed on TV pick a decade ago, but not now.
Northampton v Kettering won't be picked, regardless of the local derby aspect, mainly cos Northampton are at home. It's rare the league team at home gets picked
Harrogate x Wrexham shouldn't be picked. There are arguably more interesting (and with a decent chance of a upset) non league v league ties that deserve to be picked over Harrogate v Wrexham
Can't remember how many ties get picked, but it should be from the following:
Sutton v Birmingham Chesham v Lincoln Rushall Olympic or Peterborough Sports v Accrington Boreham Wood v Leyton Orient Worthing v Morecambe Tamworth v Town Curzon Ashton v Mansfield Southend v Charlton Taunton or Maidenhead v Crawley

Doesn't mean it's a guaranteed TV tie or the most interesting or appealing tie. I might have picked it a decade or so ago, but now? Nah, even the league games between them generally don't get picked

Will this be Town’s first experience of an artificial pitch for a competitive game?

Will this be Town’s first experience of an artificial pitch for a competitive game? Since the early attempts in the 80's at the likes of Oldham & PNE.....Don't think we played on QPR or Luton's, a lot better these days.

Will this be Town’s first experience of an artificial pitch for a competitive game? Don't think so - we played at Deepdale when they had a plastic pitch. I seem to remember that some of our players wanted to play with tracksuit bottoms under their shorts to protect their legs and we were told that either all or none of them had to wear them i.e. the whole team had to be the same. Sometime in the early to mid 90's?
