Are we forgetting him downing tools cos we wouldn't let him go to Swansea in the January window, and him saying how much he hated us whilst at Sheff Wed? It's all panto but the lads a bellend. Downed tools by playing in nearly every game after? Makes sense. Fans abusing our own players ont witter after games - fine. A player calling them helmets for doing so - send him to the gallows. I'd never abuse a Town player. And the helmet thing didn't bother me at all. But he's an opposition player. Fair game who cares

He was doing the square root of frig all until the song, he didn't do that much afterwards but I think we are better to treat ex players like Jack the Helmet with total indifference. It would hurt their over-inflated egos more if they thought we'd forgotten who they are/were.

Don't be fucking ridiculous! You seem to get extremely irritated by people enjoying themselves. I doubt you'll reflect upon this and come back with abuse because that's your condition. But maybe it's true Steve is well known for it, he was the one who reported people to Sean Jarvis for having a bit of fun at Barnsley away a few years ago. He also holds some very worrying views but goes mad when people call him out on those views.

And was largely shite, whereas before he wasn't? Not sure where I've said folk slating him on twitter were fine. They were bellends as well. But Hunt has never done anything since other than come across as a dick, you disagree that's fine. Not sure how anyone could find that song as owt other than amusing panto though.

But maybe it's true It was intended to be offensive, is a pathetic response to an x-player who stood up for himself on social media using such strong (?) language as helmets. I trust your proud of yourself for supporting their right to entertain themselves, instead of supporting the team while playing quite well.

Did I say it was great? No. Was I in there singing it? No. Did it make me smile? Yes. Was it an attempt to get an atmosphere started? Yes. Do I appreciate what the CL and the SS try to do? Yes. Do I give a shit about what you think you know about me? Guess the answer to that one. Rastrick you’re just a handle on the internet to me - and frankly I to you - bluntly I’m not craving your validation of me either. It’s fine You have an opinion I disgree Such is life sometimes I’ll leave it there and enjoy tonight’s win Fair play, no hard feelings.

Couldn’t quite make it out. I thought it was a self depreciating ‘Tight Yorkshire Bastards’ and repeat. Why is Jack Hunt a bastard? Because when he was 21 he called some people giving him aggro on Twitter “helmets” or something similar ... why people abusing someone on twitter should be upset to get abused back is a bit ironic Forget that he won promotion with Town, played over a 100 games and made us £2m in a transfer fee I don’t get it to be honest I think I get it, he's an arrogant prick imo, helmets indeed.

Personally I thought it would have been better singing songs supporting and encouraging the team and our players on the pitch in the last ten mins of a must win game This. OK sing your song for a bit , get a laugh, then move on. Singing it for 15 mins straight when we're under the cosh must have really inspired our lads. No wonder we conceded. And yes Jack Hunt is a bastard

I doubt that he cares one iota, but it's fun.

God knows how you'd have reacted to "who's up mellors wife" in 1980 There is a difference between supporting your team and being offensive towards the opposition to indirectly support your team. The balance can be a fine one, which in my opinion was inappropriately crossed with that today. That will RIGIDLY remain my opinion!

The period before they scored , they had build up a spell of possession and were threatening. We were hitting them on the counter. How is that not under the cosh?

We were hitting them on the counter. How is that not under the cosh? To me under the cosh means goal line clearances, the keeper making saves, a succession of corners and free kicks. Never happened, as others have said we saw the game out comfortably.

Singing about sun cream and Harry Potter won't inspire the team either. I can't stand that song so from now on will always sing the Jack Hunt bastard version

I suspect Jack Hunt isn't too worried about what the fans sing about him.
He's had a good career, and will have made a decent living out of playing football, which started at Huddersfield Town as a kid - he's one of the very few academy success stories we've managed to produce. Sing about him being a bastard for your amusement, but don't sing it to try and upset him. He will not give a shit.
And he'd get in our squad still, and would have done for most of the period since he left.

Of course some care, they are human

That was before my time but I do remember getting under Lee Chapman's skin with songs about Eric Cantona (and the rumour that he had been shagging Leslie Ash) when he came here with Ipswich. Can't imagine anyone hearing the Jack Hunt song and thinking it's anything other than panto though.
