I suspect Jack Hunt isn't too worried about what the fans sing about him. He's had a good career, and will have made a decent living out of playing football, which started at Huddersfield Town as a kid - he's one of the very few academy success stories we've managed to produce. Sing about him being a bastard for your amusement, but don't sing it to try and upset him. He will not give a shit. And he'd get in our squad still, and would have done for most of the period since he left. Decent player in his day and his overlap runs were his main feature. However, he looked like he was running on fumes and memories last night.

It was intended to be offensive, is a pathetic response to an x-player who stood up for himself on social media using such strong (?) language as helmets. I trust your proud of yourself for supporting their right to entertain themselves, instead of supporting the team while playing quite well. LOL there isn't a manual as to how you should support your team. Your thinking is so RIGID. Supporters support. Stewards steward.. And that's it. That's the rules.. God knows how you'd have reacted to "who's up mellors wife" in 1980 Aye, the good old "Who's up Mellors wife" song. They just don't make em like that anymore.

If we can get a Harry Toffolo type right back for next season Hunt wouldn't get anywhere near our squad next season. There were none of his marauding runs of old last night, just lumped it forward like the rest of them. One decent cross second half was about it. In fact judging by the amount of times he passed it to one of our players it looked like he thought he was in our squad.

Jack the helmet Hunt.
The same jack that slated the club whilst being a loan player at Barnsley. The same jack hunt that when playing for sheff wed said he hated town and couldn't wait to beat us in the play offs.
Fuck him. He's a helmet.

Just glad someone's cleared up what was being sung. From the north end of the Kilner it sounded to me like someone was singing about a pasty and it made me hungry. I robbed a Greggs on the way home.

Certain ex players will always get stick, others won't, just prior to kick off while Tog was going through the teams he made no secret where he stood with Hunt, I bet he had a wry smile to himself at the chanting, then I think he forgot about Paterson, called for Nahki Wells to be applauded for all he'd done for us and said Palmer was another ex Town man - 4 former players given 4 different greetings by the official club match day announcer.

Once enough people kick up a fuss about the use of this kind of language, it will be criminalised. I clearly remember the "Mellor's wife" incident, it was near the end of the 78/79 season, the crowd was under 3,000, just 6 months later it was almost 6 times that for the same fixture, when the chant first started behind him from the Cowshed he made the mistake of laughing and turning round to actually conduct the singing, no doubt he thought that would end it but it had the opposite effect. I also remember someone nipping over the front wall, grabbing his glove bag from out of the nets and jumping back into the Shed with it. Edit - Seen rams post on it and would remind him we won game 2- nil, the one after we lost 1-3. Not quite as far back I'm sure many on here will remember the two legged League Cup tie in 1992 with Blackburn - they were starting to throw Jack Walker's money around for fun, they even bought Simon Ireland for a heafty £1/4M from us after he scored in the 4-3 at Ewood, before the game there was a tannoy announcement for a minutes silence for the passing of a former Rovers man, the vast majority of it was hundreds, if not thousands of visiting fans chanting "Alan Shearer, you're a wanker," over and over. I believe it was incidents such as this that lead to calls for a minutes applause rather than silence but both are in general well observed nowadays.

I couldn't make out what the words were. Started off a with a few singing: Ohhhh Jack Hunt is a bastard, he wears a bastards hat he could've stayed at Hudders Instead he said f*ck that, He signed for Sheffield Wednesday and they thought he was shiiit And now he plays for Bristol and he looks a f*cking tit, Ohhhh Jack Hunt etc. etc.

You're wrong in your time line for the Mellor chant mate I concur. It was the game AFTER the 1-3 when we both got promoted.. I think it finished 0-0. Crowd would have been 10k plus

I'd forgotten all about this clip. I wish I'd have joined in last night now, smug little prick! Would normally be gutted for someone who got his move to a PL club and then bust his leg pre-season before making an appearance in the top flight and then never destined to play there. In Hunts case though - naaahhhh
